it’s kind of grim how dated these references are now

Vietnamese farmers utterly annihilate their invaders
Then the Americans start arriving for their turn

commented by someone who doesn’t really understand that
- this is a fucking joke
- the soldiers of Vietnam were not as mentally prepared or desensitized to the killing of a war like current generations
- this is exactly how it would be today, because look at footage from Afghanistan and how the soldiers acted then

Colonel: You’re reading too much into things.
Rosemary: That’s right, Jack, you’re tired.
Raiden: …
Colonel: Raiden, don’t waste your time thinking unnecessary thoughts. Invest all your energy instead in carrying out your duties.
I have such little hope for the future given the fusion of generative AI and technology advancing faster than our brains can adapt to changing society and conditions. Pretty soon deepfakes are going to be impossible to discern, and then we’ll truly be in a ‘post-truth world’ where nothing can be independently verified

As but if it’s AI, it shouldn’t have anyone operating it.
SpaceCowboy@lemmy.ca 10 months ago
Yeah but the AI has trained people to reach a threshold of references in snarky comments. Without the CIA snark it would be below the threshold and this displeases our AI overlords.

that story didn’t actually happened the way those headlines said it did. the AI was a genuine LLM, but the company also had human contractors that could custom build features for you.

Son, we live in a world that has Live2D avatars, and those Avatars have to be commanded by men with LLMs. Who’s gonna do it? You? You, Lieutenant Weinberg? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago, and you curse the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know – that Santiago’s death, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives.
