watched the main season of SAO

liked the 2nd season but it’s Gun-Gale

That’s good enough IMO. As long as you can recognise some of the returning characters, and not be too lost, you’re good to go!

One more update: I got too impatient waiting for its anime adaptation, so I picked up Uma Musume - Pretty Derby: Star Blossom. I ended up binging it because I simply can’t put it down.

That one’s so good!

Some scenes actually gave me chills and made my hair stood on end. It’s just so peak. I foresee it being just as amazing as the Cinderella Gray anime once it gets adapted.

Interesting Premise

• My Stepmother and Stepsisters Aren’t Wicked - A Cinderella parody? Now that’s sufficiently unique! (in the realm of anime, that is)

Thanks to the announcement of its anime adaptation, I checked out The Laid-Off Cheat-Granting Mage.

It started off like any other exiled-from-party, power-fantasy / revenge slop, but in just a few chapters it degenerated into a wacky comedy.

This may not be the most accurate comparison since it isn’t really a parody, but I was reminded of Konosuba and Isegure.

In other words, it is not like the typical exiled-from-party slop. I enjoyed it quite a bit, and would check the anime out when it’s released.

What is a “prep”?

I binged Vinland Saga too. Though, in my case, ~48-episodes isn’t long enough to be my longest binge.

Not sure if it can be considered a binge since it took me multiple days (but still done in a werk or so) due to the sheer number of episodes, but it’s Pokemon Horizons for me. I believe it was at ~120 episodes when I caught up.

Second place would be Gundam SEED (inclusive of Destiny) which is ~100 episodes long.

If it must be done in one sitting to be considered a binge, then plenty of one-cour (12 episodes long) anime tie for first place for me.

Do you have the slightest idea how little that narrows it down?

Don’t shorten its name like it’s a mass-produced weapon from the Principality.

A Gundam reference? Goated anime.

Like what @scytale@piefed.zip said, it depends on what “action” means. If action just means having fight scenes in them, then plenty of sports anime with flashy sequences meet the criteria. Or anything with a heavy focus on competition and rivalry.

Some of my favourites - that are most relevant to this post - are Haikyu and anything from Umamusume.

For Umamusume, the more “battle shonen-like” ones are Beginning of a New Era and Cinderella Gray IMO. (Even though Cinderella Gray is supposedly seinen.)

Watched All you need is kill last week. It’s great, 'nuff said.

If there’s one thing negative to say about it, it’s that it doesn’t hit as hard as my first watch-through of Edge of Tomorrow - because I got spoilt on the plot in some sense.

Definitely a recommend, especially since it’s rather short in terms of duration.

The last few episodes felt like filler ngl. Now that there are some antagonists (as cliche as they look / behave) the plot should be advancing.
