First half:
Potentially unpopular opinion but Fern and Stark feels more like adoptive siblings at this point. Still, it was a cute date, and I can see them becoming a proper couple in the future.
Second half:
My first impression of the dude living in that dangerous forest is that he is suspicious, and would be revealed to be a demon or someone malicious.
It’s a miracle that his family can even survive in such a hostile environment. How would his children even have childhood?! Perhaps the family has some powerful demon-repelling magic that spans a significant area, covering more than just their house?
Also, the way Fern’s barrier shatters into butterflies is peak.

I like how Kirara just stood there and let Panda and Megumi have a comfortable chat. That was very respectful of her, towards her opponents, in a potentially life-threatening situation.
Also, Yuuji clearly went to

the school of Thorfinn.
Now we all know that getting punched repeatedly is the best way to convince someone.
. . .
I may be clowning on this episode, but honestly its so shounen-y dumb that it looped back around being incredibly fun. I actually enjoyed it a lot.

I haven’t read the manga, but I know of how it ends. (At this point, who doesn’t?!)
Now that we see Kamiki Hikaru - and Akane pointed out how similar father and son are - it got me thinking:
manga spoiler
the ending is poetic as it is, having Aqua fall to his death like in his past life. But do you know how it can be even more poetic? If Aqua murders his father, then for whatever reason (maybe the trauma warped his mind; I bet Hikaru had his share of trauma too) take on his father’s role, and be the new villain ruining multiple girls’ lives.
Now that would be a twist.

My respect for Kondou just keeps growing.
Kondou worrying about his parents back in the original world
Too often, isekai serves as escapism for isekai MCs. To them, they just want to leave everything behind without a care. Granted, they may have their circumstances, but in the end they are losers at best (if they have no meaningful connections, no family or friends whatsoever), and self-centered, selfish jerks at worst (if they have loved ones but choose to forget about them).
That’s why Kondou is such a refreshing take on isekai MCs. Even when going through hard times, he never stopped being filial.
I guess that’s also why I like Subaru from Re:Zero,
Re:Zero out-of-context spoiler
especially during the parents arc.

if you submit an additional nomination ballot, then the new nominations will just be added to your previous ones
Just to confirm, there is no need to resubmit the entire response, right?
Just the category heading with the new nomination would do?

Hibi no Kage
Thanks for the reminder; forgot about it 😅
I believe it should be fine if you have nominated it. The actual vote is a separate round, and this song would be eligible for voting now that you have nominated it.

- Comment on [Episode] Tamon's B-Side • Tamon-kun Ima Docchi!? - Episode 6 discussion 2 days ago:
Now we see why this anime is titled Tamon’s B-Side (bad side?)
I like the direction this anime is taking. Having the MCs overcome their struggles like any other stories would have been too boring, so let’s have the titular character go through a villain arc.
I’m sure Tamon would come around eventually (and hopefully gain some confidence by the end of it).
For now, this next arc is shaping up to be interesting. It looks like the new center is going to try separating Utage from Tamon. Tamon’s possessive side would then kick in, making things ugly.
My popcorn is ready.

To suggest that I have a disorder (and to get treated for it!) based on these words is uncalled for.
My personal take aligns more closely with what others have already said
i.e. Makio is more selfless than the relatives:
she didn’t stop to think about the sacrifices she was going to have to make at all
The thing is,
- this is just my subjective opinion that is biased towards the protagonist, Makio
- this is such an obvious interpretation that makes for a simplistic narrative
Either, I don’t see the need to parrot others by offering the same comment dressed-up differently.
IMO it is more meaningful to offer a more “objective”, “neutral” take (which is still subjective at the end of the day) that doesn’t automatically paint the relatives in a bad light while putting a halo over Makio.
There are too many symptoms of groupthink on social media already, Lemmy included. It’s important to consider other perspectives instead of just your own.

I picked up Isekai Office Worker last week. It turned out to be pretty entertaining, definitely better than your run-of-the-mill power fantasy, wish-fulfillment isekai.
The story follows this dude who gets caught up in a summoning; he didn’t get any cheats since he isn’t the hero; yada yada usual stuff. But there are some catches.
Catch number 1: he has been conditioned to be such a corporate slave in our world that the first thing he did was to volunteer to slave away for the nation.
Catch number 2: without those magical blessings, he has difficulty surviving in this new world - unless he receives “injections” of magic 😏
mild spoiler
Honestly, he doesn’t even need to be healed so many times, had he not pushed himself so hard.
Bro basically enjoys getting fucked in the ass, both figuratively and literally.
With this kind of premise, it immediately stood out and differentiated itself from most other isekais. The main characters may be tropish, but they are by-and-large level-headed and at the very least not dislikable.
Beyond all that, I also enjoy the political, drama-based direction it is heading in.
If you are tired of the usual junk food, consider checking this one out.

For a moment I thought grandma or some other person was embezzling money
Me too, though I gave grandma the benefit of the doubt and assumed it was some other relative.
I guess I’m the only one who immediately thought of Asa regarding the unexpected withdrawal of money, huh. I thought this is a common enough occurence; I’ve seen my fair share of news articles in which kids used their parent’s cards, or withdraw money they are not supposed to, in order to spend them on video games and such.
We’ve already seen that they’re a pretty selfish lot.
The only time we have really seen them being “selfish” is at the funeral. Even then, IMO they aren’t being especially selfish. It was just a realistic depiction of what happens IRL in this kind of situation.
In fact, (extremely hot take incoming) one can argue that Makio is selfish but the relatives are not. The relatives are aware that it is irresponsible to take Asa in when they don’t have the capacity to truly care for her. The way Makio took Asa in was reactive and in the heat of the moment, out of her sense of justice for Asa (i.e. for her own needs) without thinking deep enough of the consequences, and now she’s paying for it in this episode.
(Personally I support Makio’s adoption of Asa; they are whom each of them need.)

Wasn’t it simply because he wanted to leave the ninja clan with his wife?
They sent him on an impossible mission to get him killed, but he is somehow still alive even after getting caught. So now they are sending their own to get the job done.

What luck for the terrorists to have Loid, Yor and Yuri on scene lol.
Next chapter is definitely about the trio taking the terrorists down, individually, while doing their best to hide their identities.
Also, the SSS is sleeping on the job on something. If they are good at their job, this upcoming incident could have been prevented altogether.

The many recent releases of chapter for I Became the World’s Strongest Witch got me thinking of this manga, and as I was thinking that, a new chapter dropped.
Anyway, it’s amazing that after so many chapters, only 8 days have passed.
Also, the writer is setting up the story for Shachiku to die, aren’t they. In fact, when Daanya / Ada woke up from the weird dream at the start of this chapter, is that a previous save-data getting loaded?

That was such a brilliant way to present the story, showing 4 of the skaters’ performance in parallel. The first and last girls were absolute beasts too.
However, the cynic in me says that they are all just jobbers, meant for powerscaling: to show strong Inori (and the teased girl maybe) is when she comes in to sweep the competition.
- Comment on [Episode] Gnosia - Episode 16 discussion 6 days ago:
This kind of twist is exactly what I stayed for. It’s a cliche one where the protagonist is revealed to be the clone / ghost / villain, but it hits hard every time.
There’s one hack for the universe to continue existing even without Gnosia infectees: our Yuri (a.k.a bug Yuri) just have to get rid of the real one and take their place. (Maybe that’s why doppelgangers are always so obsessed with taking the original’s place in fiction…)

Maybe my comment would help?
On a side note, if this is the level of writing in the manga and the anime studio just (“just” is doing some heavy lifting, I know) adapted it, then kudos to the manga author.
I thought it was all the anime director, elevating the source material.

I’m not really sure why Yuuji and Megumi are joining Fight Club, or why Panda is there
I believe they are in a mini crew-assembly arc (like in heist movie) to get more strong players on their side in the upcoming culling game. Kinji is one such key person and the Itadori gang are willing to jump through hoops to recruit him. It looked like they Panda infiltrated first, with Yuuji and Megumi following up to seal the deal.
The bit about cursed corpses was interesting, but again, the story leading up to that felt random and insufficiently explained.
I thought the cursed corpse part drew some parallel to the Maki rampage in the previous episode. It’s more politicking again, this time by the Kyoto principal’s side to maintain / expand their power.
If you think about it, even without Gojo Satoru, the Tokyo students should have been safe from Jujutsu society because of their school. This flashback showed how their principal was dealt with, removing the last bit of protection for these students.
Anyway, I am starting to recognise the trend:
some ramblings
members of the Tokyo JJK are all outcasts, ostracised by the rest of Jujutsu society. It’s not just the students like Yuuji, Megumi, Panda, Maki and Yuta; it’s the staff too, especially Satoru and Yaga. The school is never about actually educating the next generation of students. It’s for keeping potential political opponents in one place, to monitor them, ensuring their power is never threatened.
Regarding Yaga’s backstory, it seems that he was likely placed on a deferred sentence for his powers just like Yuta and Yuuji (if not explicitly, then implicitly; they would come for his life the moment he no longer serve a purpose to them).
He would have been careful not to make any missteps that warrant them coming after him, but they managed to use the personal angle - his family - against him. With Panda as bait to draw him out, and his cursed corpse required to be left behind, he made for an easy picking.

I really enjoy the direction / story-telling in this season of JJK. This style of non-linear started in season 2 as far as I can tell, but they dialed it up a notch in this season. It’s way better than the spoonfeeding of information associated with slops and battle shounens; I’d never get bored.
