Past Seasons
Following my rediscovery of Umamusume, I spent last week finishing up the rest of it.
Season 3
Unlike other Umamusume series, Pretty Derby S3 felt more like a sequel - of season 2 - than a standalone show.
It felt like they tried to recreate the magic (and success) of season 2, but I don’t think they have managed it.
To be fair, we aren’t getting a backstory like Tokai Teio’s in real life anytime soon. Still, they could have went in new direction instead of trying to replicate season 2.
I would have given it a 8 / 10, but had to knock one point off - because of annoyances like overusage of reused animation and failed reuse of past running gags - making it a 7 / 10.

Past Seasons
Toradora
After holding it off for a long time, I finally rewatch Toradora yet again so that I can give it a proper rating on AniList, instead of doing so based on vague memories of the show.
Even after so long, it is still peak drama. The animation quality from pre-2010s held up, as did its soundtrack and artstyle. But what made it stood the test of time is its character writing and story-telling.
There’s no doubt that it is getting a score of 10 / 10. Each episode got me hooked and wanting for me.
The harder test is whether it can enter my top favourites (i.e. top 10). For an anime to make it to my top favourites one vague criterion I have is rewatchability: it must leave a deep enough impression for me to want to rewatch it. Ultimately, I ended up dropping Belle in favour of Toradora.

From a macro perspective, we (read: people in general) have too many positive reviews, which is natural due to selection bias but now we have an imbalance: we know what to look for but don’t know what to avoid. At a personal level, I found your negative reviews entertaining.
I am not immune to power fantasies.
This is only normal; we could all use some junk food to “balance” our diet from time to time.

I think 100 girlfriends set the bar too high. After it came out, none of the harem romcoms hit the same.

Past Seasons
I completed Quintessential Quintuplets season 2 last week.
Personally, I found it to be a step up compared to season 1 in terms of entertainment value. This show is a soap opera from beginning to end.
Plot-wise, I found it sad that

the quintuplets familial bonds were broken by the end of the season which is exactly what Nino and Itsuki feared at the start.
Anyway, I lost interest in it towards the end, so I doubt I will be continuing with the rest of it.
I tried the first episode of Jujutsu Kaisen and I’ve got to say I’m hooked. This first episode alone has a superficial similarity to Kaiju No. 8.
I hope the rest of the show delivers.

which of the other Umamusume anime is similar to Cinderella Gray? Would enough context be given to watch a season as a standalone series instead of starting from season 1?
I heard that the first season - Pretty Derby - is more slice-of-life focused which I am not in the mood for at the moment. I am looking for something more intense with more drama and rivalries.
