Isn’t “terminally online” the term for them already?

That was anti-climatic. It’s obvious how the match is going to end, but I guess it’s the only way forward.
If this is a dating sim / visual novel, having Mai or Satsuki win would have been the way to go about their individual routes. However, Renako - being the true gamer that she is - is gunning for the true “happy” ending, harem route.

I watched Fruits Basket (2019) till episode 6 before dropping it.
It’s decent, but IMO it hasn’t stood out from typical romcoms (yet? perhaps it gets better later).
I don’t have much time, so even good (but not amazing) anime goes on the chopping block.

My anime and manga backlog has gotten crazy long due to being busy IRL😭
I just “cheat” by dropping them / pruning my lists.
The logic is that if I am not willing to make time for it, then it simply means that it failed to keep me hooked.
I ended up dropping a bunch of anime and manga that are pretty good (score of up to 7 / 10), but not amazing.
This way, my lists won’t ever become overwhelming.

+1 on the AoT and Makeine recommendations from @ReluctantZen@feddit.nl (haven’t watched the rest)
I tend to prefer shows that have a strong continuity between episodes, and that’ll grab you and make you binge the rest of the show (or at least the arc) in one go though.
I feel you my man. I love this kind of shows too.
Of anime that aired this decade, I think you may also like:
- 86 (started in 2021)
- Vinland Saga (season 1 aired in 2019; season 2 in 2023)
- Vivy: Fluorite Eye’s Song (aired 2021)
These anime starred high-schoolers as the main characters but you may like them anyway:
- Beastars (season 1 aired in 2019; the rest are more recent)
- Oshi no Ko (came out in 2023)
- Umamusume: Cinderella Gray

Any preferences in terms of genres or themes?
- Comment on Anime Questions, Recommendations, and Discussion Thread [2025, Week 34] 1 week ago:
I completed the rest of Haikyu last week. It has got to be the most hype anime for me since Cinderella Gray.
The training arc was, to be expected, somewhat weaker and slower than the rest of it.
Haikyu mild spoiler; information shown in synopsis of later seasons
But once nationals got started, it was just as exciting as the prefecture qualifiers. One thing I didn’t expect is for them to keep winning the way they did. I thought they would lose at some point, then a timeskip occurs and the story continues with the younger members of the club finally achieving national championship.

True, actual, Slice of Life.
This means no fantasy or sci-fi elements. I’ve seen maybe 3 that fit this category.
Bruh.
There are tons of good real-world-based slice-of-life anime out there.
Just go to AniList or similar, then filter by slice-of-life; make sure to filter out fantasy and sci-fi.
- Comment on [Discussion] What is the most niche genre that you like? 1 week ago:
IMO this is more a feature of parodies than a genre in of itself.
- Comment on [Discussion] What is the most niche genre that you like? 1 week ago:
I don’t know if this counts as a genre (or subgenre), but I like works that are a blend of sci-fi and high fantansy.
The best example I can think of is Captain Corinth.
The anime that best fits the bill - that I have completed - is Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.

Someone with the expertise should correct me if I am wrong; it’s been 4-5 years since I learnt about NPUs during my internship so I am very rusty:
You don’t even need a GPU if all you want to do is to run (i.e. perform inference using) a neural network (abbreviating it to NN). Just a CPU would do if the NN is sufficiently lightweight. The GPU is only needed to speed up the training of NNs.
The thing is, the CPU is a general-purpose processor, so it won’t be able run the NN optimally / as efficiently as possible. Imagine you want to do something that requires the NN and as a result, you can’t do anything else on your phone / laptop (it won’t be problem for desktops with GPUs though).
Where NPU really shines is when there are performance constraints on the model: when it has to be fast, lightweight and memory efficient. Use cases include mobile computing and IoT.
In fact, there’s news about live translation on Apple AirPod. I think this may be the perfect scenario for using NPUs - ideally housed within the earphones directly but if not, within a phone.
Disclaimer: I am only familiar with NPUs in the context of “old-school” convolutional neural networks (boy, tech moves so quickly). I am not familiar with NPUs for transformers - and LLMs by extension - but I won’t be surprised if NPUs have been adapted to work with them.

I’m pretty sure most video games require AI already. I have difficulty naming even one that doesn’t use AI.
Neural nets, on the other hand - I find it hard to imagine one running locally without impacting performance.

This episode has a slower start but given the anime’s pacing in the past episodes, I just know there is going to be a payoff towards the end.
And payoff it did.

Can’t believe I am saying this but the last few chapters of 100 girlfriends feel really weak.
One aspect of 100 girlfriends that made it so entertaining is how unpredictable it can be. When the chapters become formulaic, it starts becoming stale.
I know it is easier said than done but I hope the author can come up with crazy ideas again instead of giving us old wine in a new bottle.

Past Seasons
Continuing from season 1, I watched season 2 and 3 over the past week.
Season 2 had a bit of a slow start because the first half is just a training arc but once they start the tournament proper, it became as exciting as ever.
By the way, I’m proud that I predicted
Haikyuu season 2 spoiler
Kageyama’s last setter dump in the match against Aoba Jousai / Seijo. I was thinking: It’s been a while since Kageyama did a setter dump (compared to all the other attacks the team is making). They were at deuce, and obviously they are going to have the Kageyama-Hinata fast attack combo to end it, to show that they have grown since their last game against Seijo. To get the point before that, given the focus on their other attacks, the most unexpected move has to be a setter dump. As thinking that, the team started their synchronised attack which basically confirms my suspicions. With so many spikers to guard against, the last thing Seijo would expect is an attempt at scoring by the setter himself.

I’d imagine Umamusume got plenty of people into either IRL horseracing, or running.
Personally, I watched the more hyped races, including some that haven’t been adapted to anime.
My favourites include:
- the 2013 Arima Kinen featuring Orfevre and Gold Ship
- the 2020 Japan Cup which pitted 3 triple crown winners against each other: Almond Eye who had 8 G1 wins under her belt, Contrail who was an undefeated triple crown and Daring Tact who was an undefeated triple tiara.

- Singaporean Bridge - It’s basically a crossover of Bridge and Werewolf / Polar Bear / Among Us. That small change of not knowing who your partner is makes for games that are way more fun.
- Pokemon Soulsilver - I love the following mechanic. The other features of the game are really great too.
- Raze 2 - I have seen others describe it as the “Halo of flash games”
