IT WAS REVEALED IN THE SECOND EPISODE
I’ll admit I haven’t consumed a lot of Magical Girls stories, but
Madoku Magica spoiler
isn’t fallen/former-magical-girls-turn-antagonist quite a common trope in these stories? I’d say the later twists are stronger.

formula that you can predict
Yeah, I’d say it’s quite predictable and not what I’m looking for.

Steins;Gate
Steins;Gate spoiler
IMO it’s quite a standard time-travel story, and having watch / read enough of stories, there’s nothing really unexpected.
Ave Mujica
Ave Mujica spoiler
I certainly didn’t expect the reveal of Uika being related to Sakiko. But it’s not on the same level as the example I gave IMO.
Sound Euphonium S3
Takopi’s Original Sin
If there were any plot twists, I must have missed them. But basically, nothing surprised me.

Attack on Titan
Full metal alchemist brotherhood
I will honest with you, these two series have some of the more predictable twists I’ve seen.

Shinsekai Yori
From the New World spoiler
Though my guess about their origins were incorrect, I was still able to predict that the Queerats are (were?) humans.
This is actually a surprisingly uncommon trope. I can name multiple anime with the same twist:
meta spoiler; multiple anime titles
- Attack on Titan - Sword Art Online: Alicization arc - Madoka - Gargantia
Having seen all these anime beforehand made the twist kinda predictable.

Yessss this episode is what I’ve been waiting for.
Yuno and Nono finally felt like they are part of the main cast instead of the supporting characters.
The two songs in this episode sound good too - the one from Yuno’s old band, and the song they just came up with - even if they weren’t fully presented to us.

How about “The Saga of Tanya the Evil”?
Anyway, can’t wait for the (what seems like a) false flag.

Last week, I checked out Though I Am an Inept Villainess since it topped Anime Corner’s weekly ranking.
I found it to be a very entertaining watch, though I’d say the Anime Corner voters overhyped it. Nevertheless, I’d be following it for the rest of the season.
I also tried Ranking of Kings. I made it through 14 episodes (out of the 23 episodes) before giving up on it.
If I have to sum my experience in one line (or one picture), it’s this:
I can’t stand manga that’s well-made and nothing more.
Like, the animation is decent, and there were some minor twists early on to make the story a tad more interesting.
But that is all. It’s just a plain old cookie-cutter vanilla story and nothing more. In other words: it’s boring.
It was so disappointing, considering its high rating on AniList.

I checked out TS-Reincarnated Beauty Netora Reiko Wants to Be NTR’d per @Essence_of_Meh@lemmy.world’s recommendation.
Thank you so much. I haven’t read trash this spicy in a while since A Complicated Sibling Relationship 4-Koma.
This is why I love manga. I just don’t see unhinged plots like this anywhere else.
Give me moar!

What were the circumstances back then? Or is this approaching spoiler territory?

I’ve only just binged this anime and caught up to the latest episode, so here’s my theory: Shu Gabi is the mastermind, isn’t she?
Heck, I suspect that Keigetsu’s parents’ suicide was staged; they were actually murdered.

From the New World spoiler
> the adults might have stopped it because that was what he was intended to be and having the cat kill him wasn’t useful
This doesn’t make sense.
From the New World spoiler
During Saki’s court hearing - the one headed by the Board of Education - I thought it was made quite clear that they attempted to kill Mamoru. The cat should be acting on behalf of the BoE. The way the conversation went when Tomiko joined in, it sounded as though BoE failed in their murder attempt due to circumstances outside their control. So if the adults are responsible for saving Mamoru: 1. does that mean that the BoE changed their mind? or 2. were there opposing factions among the adults? Within BoE? Point 2 is certainly plausible. We have already seen the Ethics committee intervened to save Saki.
