I like how much depth the writer gives to side characters. The set-up for the next chapter is real good too.
There better some progress though, otherwise:

I can’t remember if they have covered it in the show, but why are the voids attacking them again? I was thinking that the main cast should find the root cause and nip it in the bud. Or even better: they should confront the creator of A Tale of Perishing for good.

I’m glad Inori didn’t win even though she did everything perfectly. A journey that’s too smooth-sailing is boring.

Quick thoughts:
- Natsuko looked so beautiful in the hot springs
- how the heck did Luke’s towel stayed on him during his battle with the void??!
- I was expecting Natsuko to draw a shield for Luke, not a Gundam
- I love the Gundam reference as much as Luke loves Natsuko

Weekly thoughts as usual:
Past Seasons
I watched Expelled From Paradise last week. The writing was deeper / more mature than I expected, given that the MC wears a skimpy outfit. I also liked how the deuteragonist is clever.
Otherwise, the setting is kinda Gundam-like, but not much politics
Expelled From Paradise spoiler
just yet. I think they are setting it up and we may see more politics in the sequel.
I enjoyed it a lot - the characters, the dialogue, the action sequences. The only aspect that didn’t stand out is its soundtracks. They are definitely not as memorable as Promare’s.
That’s enough to earn it a 9 / 10 from me. I’m looking forward to its sequel Liberated from Paradise

+1 for Kesa Mo Yuraretemasu / They are Still Being Shaken This Morning

characters feel real, not the imaginary or stereotypical prefect “woman or man”
I think these fit your definition of “real”:
- A Story About a Very Ordinary Couple - A slice-of-life series that follows a very adorable couple doing couple-y things. You may want to read the prequel A Story About a Man and a Woman and When They Sleep Together, Money Appears Out of Nowhere first.
- My Boyish Girlfriend Is Too Cute - Another cute couple, but you can guess what the girlfriend is like based on the title. The boyfriend is based too.

with her being able to do dual-rotation jumps with so little practice
My understanding is that she had been practicing hard all along and perfected the fundamentals, making it possible to pick up advanced techniques in a short duration. We just never got to see her practice on her own.
This is me bragging thinly-disguised as an example, but I can relate to this with first hand experience. I went from being complete beginner with no experience at skiing to do red runs regularly in a matter of days (to be specific, in about 2 weeks in total) which is considered kinda fast from what I’ve heard. One of my instructors pointed that because I did not pick up any bad habits, I never had to unlearn bad habits during lessons. Instead, I could simply pick up new techniques each time, building upon whatever I have learnt before.
I think Inori is in the same boat as I was.
For context, skiing levels goes something like this: learner -> green -> blue -> red -> black -> off-piste / free-style

Coach Tsukasa running a few train stations worth of distance to fetch Inori’s skates:
This is a set-up episode so nothing too amazing here, but it’s still great. I found it cute how Inori tied a bow on Tsukasa’s hoodie without him noticing.
My prediction for next episode is that Inori is going to lose the competition. It’s too much of a Main Character Syndrome if she just keeps getting victories after victories.
A loss here could then propel her for a competition / test / something in the season finale.

More examples of the emperor being based:
- he’s not a lolicon given that he didn’t go after the young consort
- he wants to stop genital mutilation
- looks like he’s the one lending his weight behind the progressive policies being rolled out
I can’t help but think he is being set-up to be the final antagonist though, with a power struggle between him and Jinshi for the throne.

The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, REALLY Love You
If you like harem stuff, well, this is one of the craziest and best-written harem things out there
I’d argue that you would like this one if you dislike the typical harem stuff.

Past Seasons
I watched two movies over the past week: Promare and Redline
The animation and art style of Gurren Lagann and Kill la Kill aren’t my cup of tea, but when it gets shortened into a movie - Promare - it’s palatable for me.
I’d say Promare’s animation is very dynamic, very energetic, but not overdone. Story-wise, it is yet another Gundam-like with themes of genocide / discrimination, mechs and LGTBQ+. Personally, my favourite thing from the movie is its catchy soundtracks, especially Kakusei by Superfly. Apparently some verses are gibberish, but given that I don’t understand Japanese, it’s all the same to me.
Overall, I’d say it’s pretty good. My only complaints are that:
- the rest of the firefighting team got kind of sidelined (but I guess that’s inevitable with a short runtime)
- Kray and his minions did not face any consequences for the death and suffering of the Burnish
I would give it a solid 8 / 10

Ah yes, 100 Girlfriends, my favourite sports anime.
Seriously though, this episode is so well done and is by far my favourite of this second season.
Also, I didn’t realize it when reading the manga, but Rentarou catching the baseball was Kamehameha right?
That brings the Dragon Ball reference count to 3:
- Super Saiyan
- Master Roshi
- Kamehameha

JUST LIKE EMAIL YOU NITWIT!
We have very different perceptions of how people approach emails.
Guess how tech illiterates(?) approach email? They sign up on Gmail - perhaps with some handholding - and that’s it. That’s all they know or care about.
And before you say they don’t deserve to be on the internet: they are all using Facebook, Youtube, Whatsapp, etc. Unless platforms like Lemmy actually treat new users better, there’s not much incentive for people to switch.

We don’t want to send everyone to the same instance otherwise it’ll end up becoming dominant (see Lemmy World)
From what I’ve learnt in network science, I’ve got bad news for you: real-world networks tend to follow power-law distributions.
Lemmy, being a social network, is unlikely to be an exception. Some instances are going to become hubs and the rest would be peripheral.
- Comment on Onboarding experience needs to be simpler for mass adoption 2 weeks ago:
unique interest or theme will determine the type and feel of content in your local feed
Then selection of interests and themes should be included in the onboarding process, instead of the mumbo-jumbo about choosing instances.

I thought it was just Unio at first, but it turns out that most / all of the characters behave like literal children. Take the tail end of the conversation between Luke and Justice. Which grown man would act like that?! That’s a little boy in a man’s body!
Story-wise, I like the resolution of this episode, with Natsuko supporting her team instead of solo carrying.
