- Comment on The Great Migration to Bluesky Gives Me Hope for the Future of the Internet 1 day ago:
the great migration to another investor-backed patiently waiting disaster. enjoy it while it’s good. if only they used activitypub. Mastodon is just too confusing for the average person, it will never take off. bluesky streamlines everything into being simple and understandable to the average user. I laugh when I see people circle jerking about being better than twitter when in reality it was started by the same people and all it takes is someone with too much money and it’ll be another fall-off story.
- Comment on Patient gamers, which games have you discovered/played this week? 3 days ago:
finally going back and playing dark souls remastered as someone who has only played demon’s souls. so far it feels very familiar yet different. definitely has that from software jankyness.
- Comment on YouTube has found a new way to load ads | AdGuard Blog 1 month ago:
I’ve been getting around it by setting my frontend to use an embed request, that way YouTube thinks it’s a third party embed and the ad injection doesn’t work.
- Comment on Youtube has fully blocked Invidious 1 month ago:
theoretically, they could switch the player to use a nocookie embed.

- Comment on Despite tech-savvy reputation, Gen Z falls behind in keyboard typing skills 2 months ago:
yeah… i am typing this with my two pointer fingers by poking each key. typing the “right” way feels weird to me. i used a computer long before any kind of handheld device and i’ve always typed this way. i only learned there was a “correct” way from a 1 week lesson in my 9th grade tech class years ago, but i never really saw a point if i’m getting the words to the screen regardless.
- Comment on Lemmy wouldn't really takeoff to replace Reddit until it's content is search indexable 2 months ago:
good, keep it small and un-fucked with. the more eyes on it, the more in danger its in of either enshittification or being blocked by govs that don’t want open conversation.
- Comment on Weekends 2 months ago:
this happens to me all the time, I’ll fall asleep at like 2am, wake up at 6, unable to fall back asleep and then I accidentally sleep away the entire day from like noon to 7pm. I’ve tried everything even just staying up for days to reset the cycle and nothing works.
- Comment on california 2 months ago:
my only memories of Bakersfield are how when you’re going down 99 you see a giant cloud of dark smog and that’s how you know you’re passing it.
- Comment on HowLongToBeat.com for my game library really helped me to become patient gamer 2 months ago:
I’ve used HLTB as long as I can remember, it’s really good for prioritizing your playthroughs based on your schedule, and seeing your average playtimes and genre to see what other games you might like.

not if I don’t have a smart tv
- Comment on Kim Dotcom to be extradited from New Zealand to the US 2 months ago:
thanks, I didn’t know. I was never even aware that it was all connected to him until a few years ago.
- Comment on Pls don't do that 2 months ago:
I’ve never heard anyone say this.
- Comment on Kim Dotcom to be extradited from New Zealand to the US 2 months ago:
so what happens to mega? does someone else own it now?
- Comment on 2 months ago:
in elementary and middle school sure. but in high school I probably would have gone insane without my phone. my friends dropped out and moved away so by junior year I was all alone and had only my internet friends. never clicked with the neurotypicals.
- Comment on Hey Reddit lurkers! my ad-free, open source Reddit viewer RDX is on Android now 3 months ago:
I can vouch that this thing is pretty dope. While I don’t even so much as lurk Reddit at this point, it was definitely useful when there was a natural disaster in my area and I was checking the local sub for updates.
- Comment on YouTube Not Accessible Across Russia. 3 months ago:
there is a browser extension that loads websites without middleman interference, a lot of people are using that. apparently it even unblocks twitter and some other sites.
- Comment on YouTube Not Accessible Across Russia. 3 months ago:
the biggest ISP in Russia, rostelecom, started throttling youtube by 80% last month and is planning a full blocking. It’s a curious choice though… even the hardest most Z people are not happy about it.

- Comment on “Mastodon for Harris” is a Success Story for Fediverse Activism 3 months ago:
a lot of instances are really just Redditors who refuse to use reddit. this is especially apparent with the USA defaultism. the best thing you can do is curate the feed with blocked communities and only stay in subscribed, but as we can see here it even bleeds into totally unrelated shit sometimes, so.

subsplease dot org
they essentially strip the official subtitles of any fuckery or mistranslations rather than reworking from the ground up, so its more like a hybrid of official and fan subtitles. HorribleSubs did this for many years before them, so a lot of their work is out there too.
- Comment on Reject reality 4 months ago:
I usually download raws with fansubs to circumvent this.
- Comment on FCC proposes ending cellphone carrier locks after 60 days 4 months ago:
This explains why I got a text from my carrier saying all phones now come unlocked. Guess they’re preparing ahead of time. Mine was already unlocked, but still.

If I’m really into a show I am still able to pull a marathon like the days of old.
- Comment on Chrono Trigger (SNES 1995) 4 months ago:
I love chrono trigger, though I’m pretty young so my first time playing it was the Nintendo DS version in 2017. That soundtrack too… I get such warm feelings when I hear it.

- Comment on [News] Adult Swim Announces Toonami Rewind Block With Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z Kai, Naruto Anime 5 months ago:
This is actually kinda dope lol. I watch old recordings of toonami with these same shows a lot when I go to bed on weekend nights. maybe I’ll get a slingtv trial or something just to tune in and show my support.
- Comment on I don't have long left 5 months ago:
I’ve had the same bag since 2018, I got it for school. Since then I’ve taken it all over the country many times and currently it’s still one of the only items I have from my “old life” after I had to move 2 years ago and lost most everything else. It’s also been discontinued. If anything happens to it I will genuinely be as heartbroken as losing a friend.
- Comment on Winamp has announced that it is opening up its source code to enable collaborative development of its legendary player for Windows 5 months ago:
if you’re being for real, it’s successor is this. though compared to other offerings these days I don’t really prefer to use it. open source and no ads tho so that’s cool.
