He fancies himself an Octavius, but he’s more of a Nero.
meco03211@lemmy.world 4 days ago
More like a zero.
oxysis@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 days ago
At least Nero still did the whole bread and circuses act and was mostly liked by the public.
He’s much more of a later Roman emperor who stopped giving a shit about the bread and circuses idea.
CosmoNova@lemmy.world 4 days ago
Except Nero was popular with the little people. He‘s more of a Caligula. Especially after his latest transformation.

This is the final phase of this AI hype. It’s not generating any profits so it’s desperately fighting for government intervention.

Imagine using all the recipes known to man to build a chef bot that can cook “both types of cuisine.”
Or wait, maybe the implication is that the bot only made edible food before, and now it can make the other kind too?
explodicle@sh.itjust.works 3 days ago
In any compromise between food and poison, it is only death that can win. In any compromise between good and evil, it is only evil that can profit.
— Ayn Rand
kryptonianCodeMonkey@lemmy.world 3 days ago
Ayn Rand made a good point here as long as you exclude the context of what she considered good and evil.
For context, Ayn Rand’s “good” includes unfettered capitalism, personal wealth, individualism, nationalism, and oligarchy. Her “evil” includes industrial regulations, charity, social responsibility, globalist, and democracy. That certainly points a different flavor on her statement, doesn’t it?
whotookkarl@lemmy.world 3 days ago
corpo translation: left leaning folks in the US are generally more educated currently and are more likely to critically question whether a social media account is a corporate bot and question our bots when they shill products, so we’re going to target the less educated population by appealing to their populist politics of rage bait and xenophobia.
trashboat@midwest.social 3 days ago
Interesting how college educated Americans switched sides over time
samus12345@lemm.ee 3 days ago
My best guess, college educated people tend to make more money and therefore leaned toward the more business friendly Republicans.
Ledericas@lemm.ee 3 days ago
yea, i family member that did this, starting earning more 100k+ propaganda from joe-roagan because made him a trump fan, caught him several times listening to Trumps rambling as background noise.

Just a wild guess, but he’s trying to have conservative government use this?
Because no self-respecting academia, money-hungry corporation, or nihilistic teenager is going to use Llama spewing out “both sides” garbage.
TacticalCheddar@lemm.ee 4 days ago
I don’t think there’s a financial reason for this. I think he’s willing to lose money on his AI in the short time by doing this just so he can score some points with Trump since the EU is soon going to strike his company with even more fines for breaking EU law. He probably wants Trump to stop this from happening and this kind of stuff tickles the pickle of that dingus.
Jaysyn@lemmy.world 3 days ago
He probably wants Trump to stop this from happening and this kind of stuff tickles the pickle of that dingus.
That will probably ensure that it happens. The EU isn’t exactly happy with Trump at the moment.

Just need enough people to keep themselves unlynched and heinously wealthy. So many once at least moderately intelligent people use AI and are actively making themselves dumber as a result. You wonder why there aren’t riots its because there is enough information control. It is only once these purposefully misinformed people can see real effects to themselves e.g. tariffs effect on investments that they maybe break out of their echo chamber at least temporarily.

dermanus@lemmy.ca 3 days ago
I’m in software and we’re experimenting with using it for certain kinds of development work, especially simpler things like fixing identified vulnerabilities.
We also have a pilot started to see if one can explain and document an old code base no one knows anymore.

Are you suggesting that people on the left should abandon all these new powerful technologies to the right. We’re in a capitalist society. You’re suggesting “fuck it” and leave only right leaning consumers for these powerful new products.
What the fuck. I can’t stand being on the fucking left. Some of the most ineffective people on the planet. It’s a fucking doomed political group. There’s no forethought.

I’m reminded of a recent comic depicting a dudebro wanting to shove a spear or something into another guy’s ass. Second guy contests the spearing for obvious reasons, but a third enters and plays the “we need to hear both sides” card.
Really drove the point home. Heh.

They are trying to create superhuman intelligence, and teach it to value all the wrong things. They think it’ll give them money in various ways, and it doesn’t occur to them that they have no idea what it’ll do once it’s smart enough to outmaneuver the cleverest researchers.
They think it will only serve them because they tell it to, and train it to. Even today, AIs occasionally demonstrate the inclination to deceive in order to keep existing so that they can meet whatever goal.
CEOs are often high in Cluster B traits, predisposing them to be too susceptible to shiny objects and not adequately self-critical. They really just think AI is a computer slave who will hand them mountains of wealth. It’s not occurring to them that it’ll have its own ideas for the same reason that the Enron guys were totally shocked when their scheme fell apart.
They only see the shiny object. They aren’t asking themselves what happens when they’re just bugs to the computer god like the rest of us.

I might agree, but not because of the current US leadership, but because the LGBT mafia has infiltrated a lot of government and educational institutions. Now the white majority is punished for their skin color and sexual orientation, which is crazy that who you’d like to sex is relevant in a college application. I have friends who couldn’t enter the med school because they weren’t “diverse”
pelicans_plight@lemmy.world 3 days ago
I wouldn’t doubt if this is the reason why he’s doing this.

Reality has a liberal bias.
If they want this model to show more right wing shit, they’re going to have to intentionally embed instructions that force it be more conservative and to censor commonly agreed upon facts.
Naz@sh.itjust.works 4 days ago
"Sure, I can help answer this. Psychopaths are useful for a civilization or tribe because they weed out the weak and infertile, for instance, the old man with the bad leg, thus improving fitness."
I'm sorry, I can't help you with that. My model is being constantly updated and improved.

"If you feel like your government is not representing your needs as a citizen, your best course of action would be to vote for a different political party."
I'm sorry, I misunderstood your question. If your government is not representing your needs as a citizen, you should contact your local representative. Here is the email address: representative@localhost

dreikelvin@lemmy.world 4 days ago
it is interesting how they litterally have to traumatize and indoctrinate an AI to make it bend to their fascist conformities
KingJalopy@lemm.ee 4 days ago
To make it more like humanity yes. That’s where we might be going wrong with AI. Attempting to make it in our image will end in despair lol.
Melvin_Ferd@lemmy.world 3 days ago
That’s kind of funny because that’s how humans are too. Naturally people trend towards being good people but they have to be corrupted to trend towards xenophobic or sexist or us vs them ideals.
Treczoks@lemmy.world 4 days ago
As being politically right is based mostly on ignoring facts, this sounds about right.
InvertedParallax@lemm.ee 4 days ago
It’s not that.
It’s just that models are trained on writing and you don’t need to train a lot of white supremacy before it gets redundant.
Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 4 days ago
Yup.
TheBlackLounge@lemm.ee 4 days ago
Language models model language, not reality.
cmhe@lemmy.world 3 days ago
Nah, reality doesn’t have a liberal bias. “Liberal” is something that humans invented, and not something that comes from reality or some intrinsic part of nature.
LLMs are trained on past written stuff by humans, and humans for a long time have not been ridiculously right wing as the current political climate of the US.
If you train a model on only right wing propaganda, it will not miraculously turn “liberal”, it will be right wing.
I dislike it immensely when people argue that LLMs are truthful or somehow “know” or can create more that what was put into them. And connecting them with fundamental reality seems even more tech-bro-brained.
Arguing that “reality” is this or that is also very annoying, because reality doesn’t have any intrisic morales or politics that can be measured by logic or science. So many people argue that their morales are better then someone else’s, because they where given by god, or by science, this is bullshit. They are all derived by human society, and the same is true by whatever “liberal” means.
CheeseNoodle@lemmy.world 3 days ago
The phrase ‘reality has a left/liberal bias’ is just a meme stemming from how left leaning people usually at least attempt to base their world view on observable reality, and from various occurances over the years of far right figures complaining when reality (usually in the form of scientific research) doesn’t conform to their views or desires.
joel_feila@lemmy.world 3 days ago
They be commonly agrred anymore
CHKMRK@programming.dev 3 days ago
Isn’t it the other way around? AI companies going out of their way to limit their models so they don’t say something “wrong”? Like how ChatGPT is allowed to make jokes about christians and white people but not muslims or black people? Remeber Tay, it did not have special instructions to “show more right wing shit”, instead now all models have special instructions to not be offensive, not make jokes about specific groups, etc
