So risking everyone else’s life around you is worth it?
- Comment on public services of an entire german state switches from Microsoft to open source (Libreoffice, Linux, Nextcloud, Thunderbird) 2 weeks ago:
It would be nice to redirect a part of that money to support the development of used software. Thunderbird for example is constantly at risk of being shut down.
- Comment on Microsoft announces new Windows changes in response to the EU's (DMA) Digital Markets Act for EEA users, including Edge not prompting users to set it as the default unless opened 2 weeks ago:
Uninstalling the store would be the biggest feature. A lot of telemetry is tied to it. I tried some of the “debloaters” out there, but the windows Installation breaks after a couple of months (I assume when ms pushes a new major update).

How is that different than any other global online market place? Even Amazon tries to put additional things in my shopping cart without me ever asking for it
- Comment on Backup for important files/pictures? 2 weeks ago:
One copy on the file system (which gets pulled into selfhosted picture apps) and once again in my nextcloud instance. The original folder gets a versioned remote backup

Maybe redo the driving test like… At least every 20 years? There are people on the roads who got their licenses when their town didn’t even had traffic lights. People who never saw a roundabout in their first 20 years of driving.
Its nice that we restrict young people by making them take more and more driving lessons and paying more for tiered licences, like we do in Europe for motorcycles and trucks.
But maybe also take a look at the 70+ year old grandpa who had two strokes and one heart attack, has two pairs of of glasses but his license says that he’s perfectly fit.

Same. The last time I saw an YouTube ad was around 2015.

- Comment on Wikimedia Foundation's plans to introduce AI-generated summaries to Wikipedia 2 weeks ago:
Who exactly asked for this? Wikipedia isn’t publicly traded, they aren’t a for profit company, why are they trying to shove Ai into people’s faces?
For those few who wanted it, there are dozens of bots who can summarize the (already kinda small) Wikipedia articles

I agree with that part. What I don’t agree with is corpos posing as holders of truth and bastions of morality.
- Comment on Bluesky has started honoring takedown requests from Turkish government 2 months ago:
Wow, all the bsky lovers are now facing the reality. None of the corpos have user’s interest in mind. They only care about numbers: number of active users’ data that they can sell to the highest bidder.

You just proved my point, all these people in the west are “supporting the LGBT movement” because it’s trendy. No one cares about these minorities in the middle east, where being gay is punished by death.
Blackrock is pushing DEI because it’s the new popular thing. I never said that Fink believes in it, but still he’s the one “forcing behaviors”.

I’m talking about present day, not about someone’s forefathers. Today people are separated and judged based on their skin color and their preferred sexual partners. If it wasn’t right 100 years ago, I don’t see how it is OK now.
- Comment on Facebook Pushes Its Llama 4 AI Model to the Right, Wants to Present “Both Sides” 2 months ago:
Why must there be special places, devided by sexual orientation and skin color? Are non-white/non straight people less smart so they need special slots? How is that “equality”?
Also I’m sorry, but as a non native English speaker I fail to understand what you meant by the last paragraphs. Also, I don’t know your name and I’m not sure I care.
- Comment on Facebook Pushes Its Llama 4 AI Model to the Right, Wants to Present “Both Sides” 2 months ago:
I might agree, but not because of the current US leadership, but because the LGBT mafia has infiltrated a lot of government and educational institutions. Now the white majority is punished for their skin color and sexual orientation, which is crazy that who you’d like to sex is relevant in a college application. I have friends who couldn’t enter the med school because they weren’t “diverse”
- Comment on Facebook Pushes Its Llama 4 AI Model to the Right, Wants to Present “Both Sides” 2 months ago:
That the left is “more educated”? I’d press “doubt” on that. Radical lefties are just as closed minded as the radical right. Supporting the new shiny trend doesn’t make one smarter.

- Comment on YouTube removes 'gender identity' from hate speech policy 2 months ago:
Speaking about false equivalence, how did you came to the conclusion that just because I don’t find a corporation removing gender stuff from their policies relevant from a technological stand point - makes me an LGBT hater? You seem to already have made your mind, you probably did assume that I’m a trump supporter who wanna see gays being hanged, even though I was saying that I expected more tech and less gender politics from this sub.
There are a lot of subs dedicated to LGBT, I came here for tech. Which sub would in your opinion be more appropriate for tech talk if not this one?
- Comment on YouTube removes 'gender identity' from hate speech policy 2 months ago:
Of course everyone is allowed to speak their mind. But being called names for not supporting a particular point of view sounds like hate speech to me, wouldn’t you agree?
- Comment on YouTube removes 'gender identity' from hate speech policy 2 months ago:
Sure, you can’t always separate the technology from the politics, my issue was that this is what most posts around here are about. I took a look and most content comes a few accounts, and it’s always about the “nazi this” and “fascist that”. Is that really only thing that happens in the tech space, what Musk said and what YouTube changed in their policy?
