Try the code on the first floor
Is this just Epic begging people to come to their platform and shelling out $ to cover the cost for devs?
I never spent a single cent on their store and probably never will, but since Epic is so keen on burning money I am happy to help them with that.
That would imply that, at some point in the future, Epic might not be able to cover their devs through the EGS and have to close it. Which would probably mean you lose access to games on there.
But that would require me installing epic games.
Nope.
Heroic Games Launcher
Yup. I claim through the website and play through Heroic. I haven’t ever installed the Epic Games launcher, yet I’ve played several free games.
New to this? You go to the website and claim the game, then never play it and go back to playing whatever you were before.
playing whatever you claim DOES however require you to download the launcher. so ill still pass
Actually, no you don’t.
And Heroic recently put out an update that fixes the games claiming bug
Hmm, it appears I already owned it on there. Which means they put it out as a free game at least once before already.
The only games I have on there are free games.
It was given away with Amazon Prime.
Ah okay, that would explain it!
Hey, it’s me, that Julia that loves to grief you on your playthrough because you forgot to turn off online play.
I don’t think they let you turn it off on launch, or maybe I couldn’t find the setting. I had the laggiest julliannas ghosting around my map every run.
Single player was great, the invasions were awful.
The game is forced multiplayer? Yeah, then I’ll pass.
I’ll take it, throw it on a 300+ pile, but I won’t install your shit Sweeney.
If you don’t like the Launcher from EG you can use Heroic:
I know, I know, that’s why I’m piling it on still.
Thanks.
I had it on PlayStation a while back. Really enjoyed so much about it, but ultimately found the controls on console to just be unbearable.
Don’t worry, the controls on PC are just as unbearable. It’s that style of mouse movement that would be fine in an RPG but is absolutely terrible with an FPS.
Oh interesting, I had Dishonored on PC and didn’t remember it being so bad. And I know what you mean, the controls feel so off beat though it’s hard to put my finger on exactly what it is. Some kind of acceleration/mapping function thing. I like to use motion controls for ADS as well and those were very sensitive.
I played this on Game Pass (Gamepass? I don't recall how they brand it) years ago and had fun with it. I'd enjoy playing it again, assuming I could forget my previous playthrough.
Thanks for the headsup !
Nice, thanks for the info
Just picked it up! Thanks for the tip.

I really enjoyed Deathloop, so here’s a recommendation from a random internet stranger 👍
FeelzGoodMan420@eviltoast.org 1 day ago
Interesting. I’m a random Internet stranger and I thought it was boring and not fun. However a lot of people liked it so I’m not saying it’s bad it just wasn’t for me.

My thoughts were not too dissimilar. Definitely with you, fellow internet stranger, on the boring, but I found it to be a mixed bag of fun so never finished the game. Though it’s been some time since I played, I may revisit to see if that has changed over the years.

Is this now a fight between random internet strangers? Are we supposed to use slurs? (JK, just in case)
Totally fair! Nothing can appeal to everyone, and I would never be accused of having average tastes. Loads of people seem to like Mario Cart, but playing it makes me want to Kyle my way through a wall. I had just played Prey Mooncrash, and was jazzed up on the loop mechanic. If I played again I may feel differently.

I fucking loved the dishonored franchise; is Deathloop anything like it? Since it’s from the same devs.

It’s not as good as Dishonored but shares a lot of gameplay, powers with it

I play every Dishonoured game every year, and Deathloop feels similar. It’s more like a new book from your favorite author, but in a different genre than they usually write in. Definitely feels closer to Prey gameplay wise (I also highly recommend Prey).
There is not as much interaction with the story NPCs, and there is less of a focus on stealth. I found myself murdering way more than with Dishonored. That said, I really enjoyed the powers offered in the game, the quick “restarting” of the loop, and the overall story was good.

Yeah it shares a lot of stuff with Dishonored gameplay wise, but has a roguelike bent to it. It doesn’t compare in terms of world building but it’s still fun, especially for free.
LandedGentry@lemmy.zip 1 day ago
Ehhhh not really. You get all sorts of quirky powers though
nawa@lemmy.world 1 day ago
It is quite similar in mechanics. It’s a small sandbox and you also have superpowers just like Dishonored. It’s pretty different in the overall vibe and obviously more gun-focused. I think you’ll enjoy it, and since it’s free it’s easy to try.

I second this recommendation!
My wife and I enjoyed playing through this. I didn’t 100% it but I got what I wanted it of if
