That’s awesome :D i’m planning to buy/play them in the next few months, so this is very convenient timing.

Sounds interesting, what’s the state on E2EE?

Good catch. I just checked the posts votes, there’s an insanely huge amount of SJW users, all accounts created on 7, or 3 months ago. Completely empty accounts, too…

Thank you for this! :D

Sorry bout that. Instance was down for some time.
Anyways here’s a mirror just in case
That entry in the modlog is from today, but I’ve definitely handled similar accounts in the past, and seen others do so elsewhere.
I didn’t see any of that, but i’ll take your word for it. Still, this is most likely, if not definitely a real account.

Checking the modlog i see one user - @abff08f4813c@j4vcdedmiokf56h3ho4t62mlku.srv.us
Which the reason afaik they have such a weird name is: lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/26773150/14235814
Are there any other users you’ve noticed with this type of username/instance name? This is the only one i saw.

Yes, but the middle east is Asian (specifically, southwest asia). So it counts

I’m from the middle east. Arab dude from Saudi (I know, I know…)

Haha, i don’t recall discussing too much about stuff like this when you were active on matrix :p Either way, glad to hear it :D
By the way, how’s your hand now? Hope you’re doing better now
- Comment on Holy shit, pick one already please 3 weeks ago:
😊 Just glad i got to talk about it lol

Good pun, but i can’t help myself:
en.wiktionary.org/wiki/اسلام_آباد#Urdu
اسلام اباد in urdu, literally translates to “Islamic area”
The اسلام (Isla:m) part comes from… the arabic word, duh lol
The اباد (a:ba:d) part comes from the PIE root *peh₂-, descending from middle/classical persian and then urdu.
The root just means “to protect, ward or shepherd” which leaves a lot of room for interpretation. The persian words mean thriving/populous (so does urdu).
There are also many derived (and recognized) words from it: en.wiktionary.org/wiki/…/peh₂-#Derived_terms Is pretty interesting to look at.
Do not it’s not like i really know too much of what i’m talking about, i just love this stuff.

It’s happened to me before. It was a real account, too (i can’t remember the username but it was some ML account). I would’ve banned/reported them but i deleted my old account anyway in favor of this one.

- Comment on Thoughts on lightweight platforms like gotosocial? 3 weeks ago:
Can’t say much abt mbin, but piefeds easier/lighter to host than Lemmy. Personally if I had to host an instance for myself I’d go with piefed (theres already an alpha API at can be enabled with FLASK_DEBUG, Pferd and interstellar already support piefed)
- Comment on Thoughts on lightweight platforms like gotosocial? 3 weeks ago:
I’d use gotosocial over mastodon/*key for self-hosting. I heard masto/*keys are pretty heavy to host

Oh, i see your edit now. I did a little testing, sadly this only applies to rooms with two people (including you) only, so it only functions like a normal 1:1 call (there’s group videochat tho)
What’s the telephone icon then on the linked screenshot
If you mean my very top comment, there’s no telephone icon :p I guess you mean that person symbol? Those are DMs :D
Or is it like only 1to1 calls
Yep
multi user rooms to join like discord/teamspeak u mean?
Also yeah sadly. If you’re insistent on it, as i said mumble is a good choice; FOSS, not tied to one server. Here’s a link www.mumble.info
- Comment on Any fediverse like discord clones? 3 weeks ago:
This doesn’t cover all rooms. However, for a bigger list use: matrixrooms.info
On element:
Press "Join public room"
On cinny:
- Comment on Any fediverse like discord clones? 3 weeks ago:
Sadly, no. In that case mumble is the best choice.

Ah, matrix being a PITA; what a surprise :D
Yeah, it’s a far fetch calling it federated at all. Will edit, thanks.

Activitypub and the matrix protocol are different things, they aren’t supposed to interact with each other. Matrix servers using matrix implementations (synapse, tuwunel, conduit, etc) can interact with each other, since they are all based on the same protocol. Same way we do it, how AP servers with mbin, piefed, lemmy interact all with each other, since they are all based on the same protocol, too.
Revolt doesn’t federate at all. They even admit this.. I stand corrected on rocket.chat, they actually implemented the matrix protocol, so it’s interoperable with matrix.
I think your last point is flawed, since even with multiple revolt instances; they don’t interact at all. Which, is not federation. Matrix is federated, there’s no other way to look at it and they’re not comparable, and not meant to be compared at all.
