Continuing my replay of Red Dead Redemption 1, probably followed by 2. Probably going to finish my replay of Subnautica. Not sure what new games will slot in after that.
It's 2025 now, what are the games you'll be starting the year with?

Having never played rdr1, do you still recommend it, knowing I played through rdr2 already? I’m wondering if I should put it on my wishlist to pick it up at a sale or not even bother.

I played Alan Wake 2 last winter on my Steam Deck, fearing I would get spoilers before I build my PC. Now that I have built it, I will proceed with The Final Draft and the DLCs.

how did you manage to play it on deck?

Heroic Games Launcher and added to the Game Mode. Native resolution with FSR2 set to Quality preset. Most of the game ran at 25-30 FPS. Frankly, the game is quite slow-paced. Only problematic spots were the first boss fight in the forest during rain (>!Nightingale!<), and the final shootout near the end of the game (>!Andersons’ song!<), where it dipped to 17-18 FPS.

Two of my all-time favourite games. Both are probably top 10

How? It’s an overwatch with new characters to experiment with.
I expected it to be a janky mess but it actually plays well.

I don’t think it sucks, but I have a lot of opinions about some of the balancing and character abilities.
It’s fun enough for me and I enjoy playin with friends, but I don’t think I’ve quite found a character that really speaks to how I like to play - which is a bit odd considering how many characters there are.

Hopped back into Octopath (the first one) after finishing Sea of Stars. It’s a honker of a game haha I feel like it’s going to take me a while.

Finishing up Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom (not patient, I know), Hogwarts Legacy, and A Hat in Time.
After that, I’m excited to play some games I got in the Steam sale:
- Bomb Rush Cyberfunk
- Firewatch
- South Park: The Stick of Truth
I’m going to try holding off buying more games this year to get through a bunch of games I have that I haven’t played.

Replaying ranked Mario kart and seeing the meta evolve has been cool. There are so many yoshis now.

Lord of the rings return to moria. It’s basically been a valve in but with dwarves. Loving it.

I don’t encourage anyone to playing around with proprietary software games. Instead there’s plenty of great foss games that you can have fun trying and playing

Psychonauts 2. I picked it up for 80% off during the autumn Steam sale and just getting around to playing it.
I also picked up It Takes Two and have been playing that with my wife.

Starting with? No clue.
I am hopeful that I might finally get around playing some scifi stuff that’s been collecting dust on my digital shelves, like Sword of the Stars and Between the Stars (it finally left early access).
I might also dabble with PS2 games, I bought a damn console, put a nice HDD on it, all back in late 2023, and powered it on once in 2024.
I’ll be happy if I play 10% of what I intend to 😞

I just started the thaumaturge and it’s freaking awesome. Looking forward to Stalker 2 later this year after they patched it a bit more
