Oh I don’t work with the stuff, it’s just from what I’ve seen. I don’t really find any AI art I’ve seen to be this big impressive thing. I’m more interested in it from a data standpoint. I feel like not actually making your own art feels kind of depressing. Like what’s the point? Unless it’s for commercial use? Like if I feel creative, I’m going to make something.
Like I used to write, and I feel like if I wanted to write, I’d write. I don’t see the point in “writing” a prompt that pulls from other people’s work. Like what would I get out of it.
Yeah, commercial applications for it are great. It Makes life easier, lowers the barrier to entry, and hopefully will result in less work.
But for purely creative and cultural reasons, I just don’t see the point. Like I know nothing is original and we all pull from somewhere, but part of the enjoyment —to me— is the process of learning, of researching, reading other’s work to hone my craft.
And art without that is soulless and not an act of expression that comes from the deep reaches of ourselves.
It’s as empty as somebody buying a race car and a team to manage it, versus someone building their own and knowing every inch of it.

I’ll say it again because I always do. I’ve never seen AI art that I couldn’t tell was AI generated . It’s always wrong. The light source is always wrong, like the lighting is painted on subjects instead of cast onto them. And it lacks imperfections caused by human hand. Maybe it’s the photographer in me, but I’ve never seen believable lighting in AI art

What I’ve seen from the average person, torrenting safely is for techies and most aren’t bothered with the effort of it. It’s a low hurdle that most people don’t want to waste time on. Building a local collection takes a shit ton of time. I’m currently rebuilding my music collection to roll my own music streaming server and I’m questioning the time value. But I’m sick of music I like getting deplatformed due to licensing

From what I’ve seen and spoken to the younger generation in my comp sci classes. None of them pirate. It’s too much work for them and they’re into that instant gratification. They thought I was an animal for pirating media… so I don’t know what they’re talking about

- Comment on Love picking up new Gameboy games in 2023 5 months ago:
It’s a bit simple compared to their other releases like The Machine. but the vibe is good. I would love a more in depth game like OG gbc games, but I assume that takes a bit budget and a team.

This has been in my backlog for years. Maybe I’ll play it next. But I did just get horizon zero Dawn ultimate or whatever it’s called in the steam sale

I just finished A Plagues take and Before I Forget. So I’m between story games at the moment.
I’m going to be playing a heck of a lot of euro truck simulator 2 because it’s the holiday challenge and I find the portals to the snowy areas cool because I’ve always wanted snow in the northern countries. The physics are pretty cool.
I typical replay Earthbound this time of the year because it’s just a nostalgic time and it’s my favorite game, so I’ll probably play that by the light of the Christmas tree this week, either on my GBA, my pi zero 2 powered Gameboy, or my pitendo cart.

Every game I’ve bought this year has ran perfectly in Linux. And I don’t check the Linux status before I buy them. Yolo has paid off

This game has taken so long that it’s either money laundering, the devs are just incompetent, or they suffer from the inability to edit themselves down

Is it real antisemitism or just not supporting Israel?
About when they start going on about “Zionists” Is where I draw the line and where it typically takes a turn.
As a Jewish person, I find it healthy to criticize the Israeli government. Most young Israelis do. Their government has been steamrolled by a wannabe dictator that is corrupt as hell and his team of racist, backwards conservative orthodox buddies.
They were just protesting in the streets weeks ago and now we’re expected to turn around and support the government? Nah. This doesn’t change anything.

I think people were expecting fallout no man’s sky…and I don’t know why.
I’d rather play nms for exploration/sandbox
And then a Bethesda space game for goofyish gunplay with a decent story.

Best modern Sony can do is a streaming shitbox that you can accomplish the same thing with using a phone or tablet you already own, and it’ll have same janky aesthetic as well.

I had one for 2 glorious weeks after buying it at initial release. Then my baby brother dumped water or something on it while I was at work. That was a lot of money for a teenager at the time. I is sad
- Comment on What is your gaming "comfort food" and why? 10 months ago:
Walking simulators and story/emotion heavy games like Life is Strange. Sometimes a good feels helps.
And Skyrim is my comfort game. Helps with panic attacks.

I really love launching the new big picture mode. Valve is really nailing the better console feel
- Comment on What have you been playing and what do you think of it? 07/16/2023 11 months ago:
I’ve been going through a nasty divorce, so my tastes have gotten weird with my emotions. And I’ve been using my laptop hooked to my new 4K tv as a console, and it’s been great for a 2019 thinkpad x1 carbon.
I started replaying Life is Strange because I craved some emotion. It’s one of my favorite games and I haven’t played it since 2017, so it feels fresh.
And then I picked up the two Lego Harry Potter games on steam because I craved something innocent and fun. It’s actually a lot better than I expected.
And I’ve been playing left for dead, the original. There is a surprising amount of people playing this, and I had no problems finding people to play with. But they probably think I’m an idiot because I’m always too stoned to be playing lol.
