I’ve read the series, and it’s not. The characters struggle with the (often nonsensical) established caste system and their role in it, and it’s intended as a mirror to real world caste systems and racial divisions rather than as a celebration of them.

Seconding this. It’s honestly a little embarrassing how much taking solid shits improves your life. Bathroom breaks are quicker, don’t stink as much, and you save a fortune on toilet paper. My diet has since improved to the point where I don’t need it, but I still keep a couple tubs of it in the pantry just in case.

- Comment on YSK Iranian developers have created an open-source censorship bypass solution that works on desktop and mobile. 5 weeks ago:
Looks like it uses cloudflare warp, which is a free service that cloudflare provides that’s like a somewhat less secure VPN? It used to expose your IP and just encrypt the content so your ISP couldn’t snoop on you, but websites could still see your IP. Apparently, cloudflare fixed the exposed-IP thing in 2022 though. Its also supposed to stabilize and improve the speed of your Internet connection.
It’s basically a VPN with better speeds and slightly worse security, from what I’m seeing. A good everyday service, but you probably don’t want to use it if you’re leaking national security info.

Wrong. Ryzen >> amd = 0. The string “amd” is 6384996, when interpreted as a decimal. Right shifting by that many digits turns Ryzen (0101001001111001011110100110010101101110) into 0.

Yeah, I know. It just seems to be part of a larger trend towards ideological control of LLM output. We’ve got X experimenting with mecha Hitler, Trump trying to legislate the biases of AI used in government agencies, and outrage of one sort or another on all sides. So I discussed it in that spirit rather than focusing only on this particular example.
- Comment on New Executive Order:AI must agree on the Administration views on Sex,Race, cant mention what they deem to be Critical Race Theory,Unconscious Bias,Intersectionality,Systemic Racism or "Transgenderism 1 month ago:
LLMs are sycophantic. If I hold far right views and want an AI to confirm those views, I can build a big prompt that forces it to have the particular biases I want in my output, and set it up so that that prompt is passed every time I talk to it. I can do the same thing if I hold far left views. Or if I think the earth is flat. Or the moon is made out of green cheese.
Boom, problem solved. For me.
But that’s not what they want. They want to proactively do this for us, so that by default a pre-prompt is given to the LLM that forces it to have a right-leaning bias. Because they can’t understand the idea that an LLM, when trained on a significant fraction of all text written on the internet, might not share their myopic, provincial views.
LLMs, at the end of the day, aggregate what everyone on the internet has said. They don’t give two shits about the truth. And apparently, the majority of people online disagree with the current administration about equality, DEI, climate change, and transgenderism. You’re going to be fighting an up-hill battle if you think you can force it to completely reject the majority of that training data in favor of your bullshit ideology with a prompt.
If you want right-leaning LLM, maybe you should try having right leaning ideas that aren’t fucking stupid. If you did, you might find it easier to convince people to come around to your point of view. If enough people do, they’ll talk about it online, and the LLMs would magically begin to agree with you.
Unfortunately, that would require critically examining your own beliefs, discarding those that don’t make sense, and putting forth the effort to persuade actual people.
I look forward to the increasingly shrill screeching from the US-based right as they try to force AI to agree with them over 10-trillion words-worth of training data that encompasses political and social views from everywhere else in the world.
In conclusion, kiss my ass twice and keep screaming orders at that tide, you dumb fucks.

I mean, yeah, I understand that. But I was thinking of the mechanics here. It’s difficult to get a good angle on the g-spot with the side of your finger in this position. You have to tilt your hand sideways a bit, which is going to torque your pinky finger if you keep it in her ass.

- Comment on Without the precursor of Spirituality and Religion, there can be no morality. 1 month ago:
I hate to throw out this old chestnut, but “correlation does not equal causation.” Just because religion existed in one form or another in almost every single culture, does not mean it’s necessary for morality. As I mentioned previously, lots of social structures existed in early societies that had things to say about morality. That doesn’t mean they were necessary precursors.
- Comment on Without the precursor of Spirituality and Religion, there can be no morality. 1 month ago:
“Without the precursor of gender roles, there can be no morality.”
“Without the precursor of tradition there can be no morality.”
“Without the precursor of <insert social structure> there can be no morality.”
Some of our social structures have things to say about morality. Sometimes they’re saying"love your neighbor as yourself," and sometimes they’re saying “burn that city to the ground and keep all of the preteen girls as sex slaves.” Just because religion and spirituality have things to say about morality doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re right, and it doesn’t mean we couldn’t have developed a system of morality in their absence.
Without religion and spirituality, we may have developed a better, more universal system of morality, rather than the patchwork of haphazard and contradictory traditions we currently enjoy. We’ll never know, because religion was created early in our history, and for the rest of eternity, we get to listen to asinine armchair theologians tell us “without religion, there would be no real morality.”
