I am doing that for friends and family. For now Windows is the default in Grub. Most are trying out Linux and like it.

I find your lack of faith disturbing. You can install Windows 11 anyways.
Be careful not to choke on your aspirations.

True. That makes things even worse!

If they have to label it “100% real cheese,” what does that say about what’s normally in there? Not exactly building consumer trust here.

A number of the questions are impossible for “regular users” to answer. 32 bit or 64 bit system? Isolated spaces?
Just recommend Ubuntu or Mint. That’s it. We can figure out other distros later if necessary.

For a proper plate of pasta you should at least get +40. If you cooked it yourself maybe even +1 skill point. If you fed someone, “you are now friends”.

- Comment on Windows 11 is closing a loophole that let you skip making a Microsoft account 2 months ago:
Makes sense. Would packaging like Flatpak or AppImage be an option? Or just make sure it runs with Wine? Probably all not that straightforward.
- Comment on Windows 11 is closing a loophole that let you skip making a Microsoft account 2 months ago:
Same here.
Game performance on Linux isn’t always the best. So I’ll keep a Win10 around.
Are Linux ports of games so hard to do? Genuine question. I am not a games dev.

- Comment on Digital Fingerprinting: Google launched a new era of tracking worse than cookie banners | Tuta 3 months ago:
Sure. You can still be profiled, though. That can open doors for discrimination or other unsavory agendas. One also loses a measure of anonymity. Users don’t clearly see how and know that they are tracked, meaning there’s a loss of transparency.
It’s not just about ads.

Neither well protect you truly from fingerprinting, sadly.

I’ve found that some people use Linux just to be apart of the “cool tech kids” on the internet. They don’t understand how to use a CLI… I hope that’s true. If Linux got this far to make PC life possible for the cool kids, I say welcome every single one of then.

Well, I completely disagree! Taking things seriously is the only way to have meaningful conversations. If we don’t challenge each other’s views, how will we ever grow and learn? We need the “battleground of ideas”!

- Comment on YSK about Darkpatterns.games, a website that rates mobile games on their "Dark patterns" 7 months ago:
Fair. Just that the selection of quality games is rather limited.
IMO monetisation is fine, after all we all need to make a living. To goad people into spending money is the issue. Enter dark patterns.
A one-off purchase after testing the first level? Awesome! Wait a few hours - or days - for a building to finish? Watch a deceptive ad for a meager reward over and over? No, thanks.
