How do they not realize once they try to ban it, it’s going to stick? If they just ignore it, it might go away after a while.

It’s the Streisand effect

Having participated in the epic Mac vs. PC flame wars of the 90s and 00s I’m upset us Mac users never came up with Microslop.

No, but we did have a cross platform PC game about it:

I always used to say that Gates named the company after his dick.

clearly true with all the time he spent on that island with those children.

I might make Microslop Winslop 13, making fun of the AI hype cycle.

Probably because Mac marketers never thought of it. Their whole marketing strategy during the 90s wasn’t even about what Macs or PCs could do but that cool people liked Macs and only middle aged business men liked PCs. Despite most of the games that weren’t on both platforms being on the PC side and Macs being the overpriced underperforming one (which IMO is the opposite of cool).

I’m pretty sure Apple’s marketing team didn’t come up with “Micro$oft”

Windows 12 is to be a mixed AI and Subscription model service.
Cris_Citrus@piefed.zip 5 weeks ago
That turned out not to be real reporting and reputable outlets covering it retracted the story, but I wouldn’t put it past Microsoft to decide its a great idea

Oh really? Guess they were testing what public opinion would be. They deserve the fury of the public at least to guide them lol
HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 5 weeks ago
i personally think it was real: it was a controlled “leak” to test the waters (or to prove to the executives to change course), and when the reaction was so predictably overwhelmingly negative the executives maybe woke up a little?

Don’t forget the windows 360 cloud thinclients they are now selling.

It won’t work, but the C-Suite will have their primary objectives met - it’s got AI and Subscription, what more could anyone want?

What show is this? Assuming it is.

I love saying Microslop because Micro$oft doesn’t translate well into speech … I use this in formal conversation with customers as a support engineer on a fortune 500 European defense contractor.

There is a solution to this microslop thing that is super easy for them to implement. I’ll solve their problem right now. Remove any and all copilot garbage from the OS. All integrations, all in program bots, everything. Not “turn it off if you want”. Remove it entirely.

What about the 30% code is made with AI, and Windows having major problems? Or the fact that there is no innovation and they offering just the basics?
No Microslop fits them perfectly.

Delete it all. Start again.
KairuByte@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 weeks ago
Sadly there are many users who are all in on the AI bullshit, so that likely won’t happen until after the bubble pops.
HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 5 weeks ago
they could 50% improve their implementation if they renamed it clippy
