It’s not really Plato that’s saying that, he’s attributing it to his teacher, Socrates.

‘teacher’, in fact, is a pointer that the person may have been an older man that topped the pupil. Yes, in a gay sex way.
We don’t even really know whether Sokrates was an actual person or made up by Platon though, let alone anything else.
