That’s how they get ya.
Baby: “Teke-lili! Teke-lili!”
Woman (with a hideous smile): “SKREE!”
Human: “WTF?!?”
Woman’s arm curls around from beneath, grabbing the human by the throat.
Then the woman and the baby, they feed….
- Comment on How we are brought into this world 6 days ago:
The woman’s arm naturally grows that long so she can pull the baby out by herself if need be.

iirc the new company was re-established by one of the original owners. I think Tripp NYC is still around and having a comeback too. (neither one was ever my thing tho…)

Why are y’all downvoting the mfer? This is a “rant” community, and they’re ranting. It’s a worthwhile perspective to hear. Sure, they should spend their time making this a better place instead of pining over the corporate cesspool that’s written them off, but that’s a perspective you can upvote in comments.

Glad to hear that. FWIW the current community description, “A place for 90s and 2000s nostalgia”, makes it sound like the 80s aren’t invited.

… since founder Jamie Siminoff returned, the company has renewed its focus on using its products to prevent crime.
Siminoff said he came back because of the possibilities AI brings. With this technology, he believes neighborhood cameras could be used to virtually “zero out crime” within a year.

I’m guessin this is bait, but anyways:
- human emotions have cognitive (as well as physiological) components that interact in ways we don’t yet understand. For example, if two people listen to a song that they enjoy, one person’s memories may be wistful and another’s may be tinged with a negative emotion, and each of these will trigger different physical reactions (which will themselves trigger cognitive responses, etc.)
- “The happiness you experience from eating is the same as the happiness from cocaine.” lel, no: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cocaine#Pharmacodynamics
- That being said, there is something called “loving-kindness meditation” which encourages intentional benevolence for all things and is kinda in the spirit of this post: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maitr%C4%AB#Mett%C4%81_meditation

If someone can manipulate a search engine to provide results different to what it would otherwise do, that’s a bug they will fix
But there are more people manipulating the results, than people fixing the bugs.

that site is odd… looks like we have to go to https://lemmyverse.net/ and THEN click “communities”…
- Comment on we need more users 1 month ago:
Yeah, feeds are neat bc they’re user-curated, they’re easy to copy, and you can easily tell which communities are active.
Your proximetry metrics is a good idea too, I bet it would work best in a tool like the Lemmy Explorer: https://lemmyverse.net/communities
