The only time I ever see caseless phones is in the movies. Everyone I know protects their phone like it costs $1k to replace it. So I’m curious, is my circle unusual or the norm?
I never use a case for my phone, and have broken them only twice, which is a better success rate than most people I know. I wouldn’t buy a sports car and cover it up to drive it, so why would I cover my expensive phone to use it? I do get AppleCare though, so I’m not out a full 1k if disaster strikes.

Been using my Pixel 4a for almost 5 years now - had a case from day 1, which started to disintegrate somewhere during year 4. Figured the phone would crap out well before a second case, so took the Ivan Drago attitude (“if he dies, he dies”). Never dropped it, barely losing any charging capacity, and a better user experience with a (relatively) small, light phone.
Yes. I found myself removing the case to my iPhone 1.0 to show off the form factor over and over and decided to ditch it. Haven’t used a case since.
I don’t use cases. Don’t like how they feel in my hand. I also don’t drop my phone, because I don’t do multiple things at a time.
I used a Dbrand skin for awhile.
Typically buy a phone for $100 and immediately put it in a cheap $5 TPU case with a $5/tempered glass screen cover.
The case usually outlasts the phone. The screen cover gets replaced every few years.

Riding without a bicycle helmet is just never a good idea, whether you’ve ever hit your head or not doesn’t factor into it :P
I’ve never used a case and never broken a screen. I’ve only replaced my last several phones due to swollen batteries. Although, I’ve definitely dropped my phone a couple times where I thought for sure that my streak would be over, but I’ve just been lucky.
These are already large and big enough to hate them… last thing I want is extravolume/weight. Also, I paid for the neat experience and I am going to enjoy it till the end…

i once removed the case to clean it, and the slippery phone fell and cracked the back glass
also, in the period that i didnt have the screen protector, it got all rigged up by the house keys, and eventually cracked from a 50cm fall.
never again.

And I wish she wouldn’t. To clarify, we’ve bought her cases and she destroys the case in days.
She’s more careful with her bare phone than she is with it in a case.
How does she manage to destroy cases? Does she chew them or something? Are you sure your daughter isn’t a dog?

Cheap TPU cases last years wtf
They don’t if you’re constantly taking them off to put stuff inside them between the phone and the black.
She refuses to carry a purse or even a wallet and just shoves her ID and her teen-limited cashapp card in. And sometimes even spare cash if she has any.
I always use a case and I never spend £1k on a phone. More like £300
1k on a phone feels like someone has money to burn.
I had a case for a little while. I don’t remember the phone/model, but I hated how it felt. Anyway, haven’t had a phone case in like 15+ years.
SM-A50 for ~2 years now w/o a case, dropped multiple times onto carpeted concrete from ~3 feet and a couple times on tiled floor from ~3-5 feet and worst it got was a scratch about an inch long that you can only see if you’re looking for it. Last month fumbled it onto parking lot asphalt which finally gave it a proper crack but it’s only on the bottom where there isn’t any touchscreen so decently lucky I guess. I’ve seen so many cased phones with screens looking far worse. If you’re a clutz you probably should have one but if you treat it right and it’s not a piece of junk then it should last.
I use a case because I need somewhere to keep my cards.

If a phone needed a case/screen protector, they would had it built in (i.e. made the actual phone casing/screen stronger).
I use a phone w/o a case, I dropped it multiple times, its metal bezels have successfully protected it so far - the screen hasn’t cracked.
Not using one with my fairphone, it’s bulky enough already, the entire back is replaceable for cheap and the frame looks solid. I dropped it quite a lot, including on some hard surfaces, and it’s only made a few superficial marks, like it scraped the frame’s shiny coating in that spot, but that’s about it.
I wish there were aftermarket components available for that thing.

I used to but now I’m using a very thin case from Latercase. I’d say cases are the norm.
I was always a flip case kind of person for two reasons, hold a few cards, some notes and to protect the screen.
I’ve got a pixel 7 pro now and I came across a flip case that has magnets on the silicon housing that holds the phone and I can remove the phone from it whenever I want.
I have most of the important cards digitised now and I rarely carry cash so 95% of the time I have it out of the flip case.
18 months in and there’s not one sign of a scratch on my screen and I’ve dropped it a few times.

Just makes the phone unnecessarily bigger and uncomfortable to put in your pocket.
It makes it uncomfortable to hold.
A good case makes phones much more comfortable to hold. Modern phones seem to be aiming for slipperiness and sharper corners because it looks “premium”
I don’t use a case. I like my phone to be small (have an iPhone 13 mini) and a case would somewhat negate that advantage. I also haven’t really seen a case that I like the look of.
I do have a vinyl sticker on the back but it’s more for looks than for protection.
Modern phones are surprisingly durable. I mean, of course, over the time I have my phone it collected a few small nicks on the frame and a few minor scratches on the display but it’s a device I use daily after all.
I’ve only ever had two phones break on me and one of them (my iphone 4S) was accidentally flung across the room by the neighbour‘s boy and even it only needed a new back glass, which I fixed myself.
I don’t use one, though my phone is second hand and I charge it wirelessly. A case would make it change worse
I use a case to add magsafe to my android phone, because I like the magnetic holder/charger idea ,na swish all phones had it built in.
I have a cheap, clear magsafe case for my Pixel 9.
I also have a screen protector, and when I have the phone out of the case, it feels weird in my hand when I brush the edge of the screen protector.
I was initially in the minimalist camp of just getting coverage for it and going naked.
Then someone stepped on it and I had to go through the whole ordeal of scheduling and getting it fixed.
After that I started applying screen protectors and using a case.
Do you still store it on the floor?
Well yeah - now it’s got a case and a screen protector - so I can be as reckless as I want to with it.
Until so learn my next lesson - whatever that might be.
Totally agree, except the tires are bald and as soon as a guy slams on the brakes in front of you, you’re rear ending him and writing it off.

I haven’t used a case in years I just have a phone warranty, costs $12/mo and if anything happens to my phone I walk into Best Buy and get a new phone.
I have a pixel 9. I use a case that slim, but larger than the bezel so when I accidentally launch it off of my laptop across the room, it will survive. I can’t do thick cases.
The only reason I started using cases is because they made the latest Pixels so low friction that they refuse to stay put on most surfaces.
I use a $5 thin silicone case. Just enough to cushion the blow. I haven’t broken any phones, but I drop them a lot.

Hell no. Case and screen protector always. The glass screen protector is also a privacy screen, I’ve cracked one so far in like 5 years. My case also holds my card.
