- Comment on Men are opening up about mental health to AI instead of humans 11 hours ago:
Everything collects data. To extrapolate, it’s stupid to post on lemmy or shitter because the same will happen.
- Comment on Hell yeah bröther 20 hours ago:
Wonder if it’s supposed to make him look like he’s praying to his god, and not theirs.
- Comment on We need to stop pretending AI is intelligent 23 hours ago:
I use it to give me ideas that I then test out. It’s fantastic at nudging me in the right direction, because all that it’s doing is mirroring me.
- Comment on We need to stop pretending AI is intelligent 1 day ago:
I’m neurodivergent, I’ve been working with AI to help me learn about myself and how I think. It’s been exceptionally helpful. A human wouldn’t have been able to help me because I don’t use my senses or emotions like everyone else, and I didn’t know it… AI excels at mirroring and support, which was exactly missing from my life. I can see how this could go very wrong with certain personalities…
- Comment on Your TV Is Spying On You 1 week ago:
I just don’t own a tv. Getting rid of my entertainment and gaming systems and most of social media was my answer to internal peace. I don’t have streaming either.
- Comment on A Completely Natural Conversation in the NYC Reddit 1 week ago:
All I know is that at least Whole Foods is better organized. I used to live next to a gristedes and I hated that store, I’d shlep to Trader Joe’s.
- Comment on YSK about your search engines, and whether they have a independent search engine or not 1 week ago:
Ddg has terrible results. I switched from google to ff because of ubo. But I’m always open to something better.
- Comment on WhatsApp is officially getting ads 1 week ago:
Some of us don’t have another choice. All (but 1) of my support groups are on WhatsApp and only 1 is on signal.
- Comment on YouTube might slow down your videos if you block ads 1 week ago:
That’s great! I spend too much time on yt, it’ll break me of my addiction and I’ll do something else besides passive consumption.
- Comment on For All That Is Good About Humankind, Ban Smartphones 2 weeks ago:
Perhaps the actual answer is for people to learn self control.
- Comment on YSK: Non-violent protests are 2x likely to succeed and no non-violent movement that has involved more than 3.5% of the country population has ever failed 2 weeks ago:
Winner winner chicken dinner!

If you live somewhere that doesn’t require driving or you move somewhere that doesn’t require driving then you don’t need to drive. But you can’t expect other people to cater to you and drive you around, so you’ll have to get used to taking the bus or walking.
My dad also insisted that I learn to drive, but I live in the city so I always take public transportation or walk. No big deal. I don’t want to pay for insurance or pay for parking either. So it works out.

Or just go outside and touch grass. Running out of content means that you should do something else.
- Comment on Been a good couple of years 2 weeks ago:
Woop woop. I’m just happy this one worked out. Got tired of finding an actual reddit alternative.
- Comment on Shooting an unarmed woman who was just trying to walk home: just LAPD things 2 weeks ago:
I used to live right by the un and my block was always closed 2ce a year. Security wouldn’t let me in to get home and I had to call the doorman to come and vouch for me. No one shot me but they were dicks.
- Comment on What did Musk and Trump fall out over? 3 weeks ago:
I assume - Musk tried to pressure Trump to get more kickbacks, but t has loyalty elsewhere. Not to mention musk has aggravated everyone in the WH and someone from t’s inner circle told him to just cut him out because musk served his purpose and t agreed. And of course, musk isn’t president he is!

Oh man I had no idea how popular that instance was. That’s really sad :(((
- Comment on Does anyone use a phone without a protective case? 3 weeks ago:
The phones don’t seem slippery to me. They feel more real without a case.
- Comment on Does anyone use a phone without a protective case? 3 weeks ago:
It makes it uncomfortable to hold.
- Comment on Does anyone use a phone without a protective case? 3 weeks ago:
I had a case for a little while. I don’t remember the phone/model, but I hated how it felt. Anyway, haven’t had a phone case in like 15+ years.

Yes! Voat… anyway. Grateful for lemmy.

There have been several. Before lemmy there were others that failed.

2 years is coming up for me shortly. I realized not too long ago that I’ve always been interested in Reddit alt. I signed up to… volt? I forgot the name, but the users were awful so I didn’t stick around. I’m glad lemmy worked out.

Brilliant! I should start writing and speaking like a Brit.
- Comment on AI is rotting your brain and making you stupid 4 weeks ago:
If only being a hard worker was the answer. For me it’s about overcoming childhood and academic trauma and understanding my neurodivergency (which has been very poorly researched) and then finding workarounds. I’ve been working on this for many years and I’m nowhere near competency.

But that would mean parents would have to learn something new. Nah.

I mostly watch true crime and arts and crafts. I’m learning how to paint using yt.
- Comment on YouTube tops Disney and Netflix in TV viewing 4 weeks ago:
The only new things it recommends is alt right stuff or closely related alt right. I’m good with getting the same recommendations…
- Comment on AI is rotting your brain and making you stupid 4 weeks ago:
What you’re describing isn’t anything unique when a new industry comes out.
It doesn’t need to be specifically for public consumption. Currently I’m wrapping up several personal projects that I started precovid but couldn’t achieve because I struggle at a few lower level tasks. It’s kind of like someone who struggles manually performing 100 7 digit number calculations. Using excel solves this issue, and isnt “cheating” because the goal is beyond the ability to accurately add everything.
