- Comment on How are Americans so outgoing and extroverted and how can I become the same? 1 day ago:
When I moved to America I adopted this personality. All it is is a script for me - I talk about observations in the current environment, the weather, comment if I like someone’s outfit/bag/shoes. It’s not genuine interest, although sometimes I get bored and talk to people.
- Comment on Partner has ADD, do I have misophonia? 2 days ago:
Yikes. I’m sorry that you’re in this situation. Is your partner working with someone re his depression and add? Are you getting support? At the end of the day, the only person you can control is yourself.
For me personally I can’t handle that type of behavior. I was working closely with someone like that and i ended up leaving. I felt terrible. Aside from her issues, I really liked her and she was very knowledgeable but working with her caused me very high anxiety and I just couldn’t deal with it.
- Comment on People have private conversations on speaker phone but if I participate then I'm the crazy one 3 days ago:
Fuck it. Be passive aggressive. Put music on your phone and sit next to them.

I ask chatgpt first. It usually gives me decent ideas to test out.
- Comment on A VPN Company Canceled All Lifetime Subscriptions, Claiming It Didn’t Know About Them 6 days ago:
This is also why I stopped prepaying for things. Sure I’m spending $50 more a year but at least I have flexibility.

Can’t you open up a trust with the money and put a provision on it saving you from yourself?

- Comment on Are We All Becoming More Hostile Online? 1 week ago:
It depends on what communities you subscribe to. You’re not going to get much hostility in a gardening sub, but you will get it in political sub. With that said, my reddit score is very polite. Always has been. My secret is being aware of my emotions and not responding when I’m being egged.
- Comment on Skype was shut down for good today 2 weeks ago:
I used Skype a couple of times - I was talking to someone overseas. This was pre zoom. It’s interesting that they dropped the ball, they could have been zoom.
- Comment on ‘The Worst Internet-Research Ethics Violation I Have Ever Seen’ | The most persuasive “people” on a popular subreddit turned out to be a front for a secret AI experiment. 2 weeks ago:
People are afraid to question their belief systems because it will create an identity crisis, and most people can’t psychologically deal with it. So it’s all self preservation.

Yup. We’re all susceptible to joining a cult. No one willingly joins a cult, their group slowly morphs into one.

This isn’t even a theoretical question. We saw it live in the last us elections. Fox News, TikTok, WaPo etc. are owned by right wing media and sane washed trump. It was a group effort. You need to be suspicious not only of the internet but of tv and newspapers too. Old school media isn’t safe either. It never really was.
But I think the root cause is that people don’t have the time to really dig deep to get to the truth, and they want entertainment not be told about the doom and gloom of the actual future (like climate change, loss of the middle class etc).
- Comment on Does the average person have no critical thinking? 2 weeks ago:
Questioning beliefs takes a lot of time and courage. Very few people do it.
- Comment on Microsoft getting nervous about Europe's tech independence 2 weeks ago:
It’s not even America first. It’s Trump and maybe the .00001% first and fuck everyone else.
- Comment on Google’s dominance on search is declining – for the first time ever! 2 weeks ago:

Robots are taking over our jobs… did folks who work is sewers make good money because it wasn’t a pleasant job?
- Comment on Getting mixed signals from Reddit. Furthermore I shall henceforth be on Lemmy full time. 2 weeks ago:
I just came back from a 3 day ban. I was warned before. In the 10+ years I’ve been on reddit this has never happened to me. But whatever. Lemmy is a great alternative.
- Comment on Why am I seeing political ads for Donald Trump in April of the year of his second inauguration? 3 weeks ago:
I haven’t seen a commercial in years, but what I can speak about is the random us flags. Is this for July 4th or is it to support Trump? My grocery store sells so many sizes now and they’re so cheap. It’s the cheapest thing they have.

- Comment on 34% of the US population doesn't vote. Why do polticalitcians cling to the idea that these voters can't be reached? 3 weeks ago:
My state allows for mail in voting. My problem was that I was always stuck in survival mode. I couldn’t take care of my basic needs, there was no room for civic duties. It’s like I was in a trance. The problem is having to work too many hours, plus commute.
- Comment on 34% of the US population doesn't vote. Why do polticalitcians cling to the idea that these voters can't be reached? 3 weeks ago:
The bullet ballots were such a statistical anomaly. They should have been investigated/double checked.
- Comment on 34% of the US population doesn't vote. Why do polticalitcians cling to the idea that these voters can't be reached? 3 weeks ago:
I’ll tell you why I didn’t used to vote. I worked too many hours and was emotionally exhausted all of the time. I didn’t have hobbies or interests or energy to do anything else. My personal life was a complete mess. I didn’t have friends or relationships either. I ate poorly and didn’t exercise. All I literally did was work. I suspect a lot of people were in my shoes.

- Comment on ChatGPT spends 'tens of millions of dollars' on people saying 'please' and 'thank you', but Sam Altman says it's worth it 4 weeks ago:
So I also don’t say please/thank you and I asked chatgpt if it thought I was rude for not say it. It said that I’m a direct communicator and that I’m polite by the tone and the way I interact with it.
- Comment on As a US citizen who was born in the UK, how risky is it to leave and reenter the US right now? 5 weeks ago:
My parents just came back from Jamaica without a problem. They had no issues but they’re white, have no social media, they don’t have anything negative about Trump on their phones and they’re legal. As long as you fit the right demographics you should be fine.
