- Comment on New tool burns images onto Compact Discs' recording area using ones and zeros — unlike Lightscribe, the technique works on any disc 12 hours ago:
Since you’re burning audio data to create the visual image, you can’t also store data, etc.
So what’s the point?
- Comment on Would alcohol be as popular if it weren't a beverage? 12 hours ago:
Before water could be reliably sterilised beer was the only thing people could drink safely. So it would have been the only thing a lot of people drank for their whole lives after they stopped breastfeeding which I think will have contributed quite strongly to it’s popularity.

It was the style at the time.

Hell no. Case and screen protector always. The glass screen protector is also a privacy screen, I’ve cracked one so far in like 5 years. My case also holds my card.

I think I just have a woman fetish. I’ve had “oh damn” moments with various body parts on different women over the years. Feet, hands, decolletage, ears, eyebrows… all sorts.
- Comment on Valve CEO Gabe Newell’s Neuralink competitor is expecting its first brain chip this year 1 week ago:
Digital onboard data processing and spike detection allows the device to operate via low-bandwidth wireless interfaces.
It also receives power wirelessly so probably going to be the only option.

- Comment on A Judge Accepted AI Video Testimony From a Dead Man 4 weeks ago:
I found this interesting. The AI said it believes in forgiveness.
“To Gabriel Horcasitas, the man who shot me, it is a shame we encountered each other that day in those circumstances,” the AI Pelkey says. “In another life we probably could have been friends. I believe in forgiveness, in God who forgives, I always have. And I still do.”
But the victim’s sister, who created the AI did it to try to get the maximum sentence for the defendant.
The prosecution against Horcasitas was only seeking nine years for the killing. The maximum was 10 and a half years. Stacey had asked the judge for the full sentence during her own impact statement. The judge granted her request, something Stacey credits—in part—to the AI video.

Ha, genius. So true as well, this is the inevitable result of personalised ads. A video of your dead Grandmother popping up saying: “I sure did love big brand hazelnut chocolate. Celebrate my birthday tomorrow and buy a bar for you and the whole family.”

I had this conversation with some non-tech savvy relatives a while ago. They were under the impression that just by virtue of something being posted online it will remain there forever. Had to explain its more like once you post something online you lose control of it. So it could disappear completely or someone could download/ screenshot it and you then have no way to stop it proliferating so you should act like everything you post will remain online forever.

I have a JBL Clip 3 I use in the bathroom when I shower. Sound quality’s pretty good but I just listen to podcasts with it rather than music.
