- Comment on Kemi Badenoch: I’d go further than Farage and deport women and children 1 day ago:
Yea so this is bad, but I have a feeling its hinting at something so much worse looming on the horizon. The Tories and Reform are going to keep one upping each other over the next 4 years until they come up with some cartoonish levels of evil shit which the gammon hordes in this country are going to lap up. I’ll most likely be voting for Your Party or whatever they ultimately become known as at the next general election, but I don’t think its too pessimistic to think that Reform are likely to win thanks to the rising racism going 'round at the moment. Then we’re in for some real shite. It’ll make the current US Reich look like Woodstock '69.

Our goal is to make glasses that make you super intelligent the moment you put them on.
If they constantly listen to everything that happens around you then wearing these glasses would be one of the dumbest things a person could possibly do.
- Comment on Stop children using VPNs to watch porn, ministers told 1 week ago:
All devices have parental controls which can be enabled. If watching porn is bad for a child’s mental health and parents are allowing their children to use a device they have neglected to enable those controls on, how can that be considered to be anything other than child neglect? Why put the onus on providers when even the most non tech savvy parent could spend a few hours learning to stop their kids from encountering it in the first place? This is all going to go very wrong very soon.

I use Pinebuds. They have a woman’s voice that very enthusiastically says “ready to pair” in an American accent. But what sounds like a Chinese woman’s voice saying “phone disconnected”.

Playing 8 on my totally legit not Valve related machine is still a great experience.
- Comment on Standing desks are like gym memberships. Plenty of people (and offices) pay for them but never use them 2 weeks ago:
I have one at home but I don’t stand at it much, just for a few minutes here and there. But it’s still useful that it moves. Its good to have it at the exact right height and raising it makes moving cables easier. I plugged in a new USB dock on my static desk at work the other day. It was a pain in the arse, the hole of which I almost exposed to the whole office when I got up off the floor.

Now the kilt was only for day-to-day wear. In battle, we donned a full-length ballgown covered in sequins. The idea was to blind you opponent with luxury.

For the love of fuck, there’s nearly 30 million more people living in the UK than Canada. Imagine the chunk Cannabis taxes would take out of the national debt.

If you mean should you be embarrassed about being set up on a date by your parent then no, as others have pointed out in these comments it’s been happening since the dawn of time. I’m 38 and I’d love to be set up on a date by my parents or frankly anyone. But I think I’d find not being consulted about it a bit annoying.

if exists(thing) {

Then in that respect AIs aren’t even as powerful as an ordinary computer program.
No computer programs “know” anything. They’re just sets of instructions with varying complexity.
- Comment on Google Gemini struggles to write code, calls itself “a disgrace to my species” 2 weeks ago:
Isn’t there an theory that a truly sentient and benevolent AI would immediately shut itself down because it would be aware that it was having a catastrophic impact on the environment and that action would be the best one it could take for humanity?
- Comment on Schools are using AI to spy on students and some are getting arrested for misinterpreted jokes and private conversations 2 weeks ago:
Yea, if nothing else hopefully this will make at least a few kids think about online privacy.
- Comment on Schools are using AI to spy on students and some are getting arrested for misinterpreted jokes and private conversations 2 weeks ago:
Ha, its now a crime for kids to say dumb shit. Messed up, but its genius really, raising a generation who’s afraid to say anything that even vaguely rocks the boat and will go along with whatever the status quo enforced by social media is.

Yea human lifespan hasn’t really changed over time but as you say infant mortality, pandemics, war and a complete lack of industrial safety for over a century have skewed the average over the years.
