- Comment on If you were (falsely) accused of murder, but you have records of your phone at home with youtube videos being played, can you submit those records as a sort of Alibi to exonerate you? 4 days ago:
The prosecution lawyer is going to argue that evidence could have been faked. Then it comes down to how convincing the jury find that argument. Personally I’d say that you could have been using a VPN to make it appear that you were accessing Youtube from home or that you left your phone at home and just left Youtube auto playing or ran some sort of automation to search for and play videos.

Also can kids just leave the house and “play out” on their own these days like they used to?

Yea I’m in the UK and smell it all the time too. It’s kind of the worst situation for it really. Cops don’t seem to care about possession so it’s use is widespread but cultivation is still illegal so it’s done by criminal gangs often exploiting vulnerable people and obviously not paying taxes.

I can’t ever remember seeing a kid wearing them here in the UK but my grandma once said she used “reins” on my dad and his siblings which would have been from late 1960s to late 1970s.
- Comment on New tool burns images onto Compact Discs' recording area using ones and zeros — unlike Lightscribe, the technique works on any disc 2 weeks ago:
Since you’re burning audio data to create the visual image, you can’t also store data, etc.
So what’s the point?
- Comment on Would alcohol be as popular if it weren't a beverage? 2 weeks ago:
Before water could be reliably sterilised beer was the only thing people could drink safely. So it would have been the only thing a lot of people drank for their whole lives after they stopped breastfeeding which I think will have contributed quite strongly to it’s popularity.

Hell no. Case and screen protector always. The glass screen protector is also a privacy screen, I’ve cracked one so far in like 5 years. My case also holds my card.

Digital onboard data processing and spike detection allows the device to operate via low-bandwidth wireless interfaces.
It also receives power wirelessly so probably going to be the only option.

- Comment on A Judge Accepted AI Video Testimony From a Dead Man 1 month ago:
I found this interesting. The AI said it believes in forgiveness.
“To Gabriel Horcasitas, the man who shot me, it is a shame we encountered each other that day in those circumstances,” the AI Pelkey says. “In another life we probably could have been friends. I believe in forgiveness, in God who forgives, I always have. And I still do.”
But the victim’s sister, who created the AI did it to try to get the maximum sentence for the defendant.
The prosecution against Horcasitas was only seeking nine years for the killing. The maximum was 10 and a half years. Stacey had asked the judge for the full sentence during her own impact statement. The judge granted her request, something Stacey credits—in part—to the AI video.

Ha, genius. So true as well, this is the inevitable result of personalised ads. A video of your dead Grandmother popping up saying: “I sure did love big brand hazelnut chocolate. Celebrate my birthday tomorrow and buy a bar for you and the whole family.”
