Power through. Talk again. Never give up. Or at least give it fifteen minutes of trying before you go “It feels like I can’t get a word in edgewise”.
Should try again tomorrow

That’s just shitty people. Find people who you vibe with, and then interact with them.

When I talk to people irl there’s like a 50% chance they’ll start yawning. They don’t even try to hide it, wtf.
That’s why I like Lemmy. I know y’all are yawning, I know it. But at least I can’t see it!

That’s not fair, that’s because I only get 4 hours sleep

Jokes on you! I thought that was the “vomiting” emoji, that only happens 10% of the time.

I’m usually the Debbie Downer (SNL) that silences the room by bringing oom and gloom or causing everyone a existential crisis.

Have you tried not using your voice to communicate?

I’m guessing you are doing social interaction wrong.
You are supposed to talk about them, matters they bring up or have interest in. Social interaction is mostly a circlejeck where people talk about themselves and matters of their interests by proxy, without talking about themselves or matters of their interests.
Transfer of information has nothing to do with it.

Not trying to challenge that it feels like that for you but that’s quite different from my own experience. Not thit people don’t like to talk about themselves but for me it’s more about finding common ground than just mirroring them.

In “How to Win Friends and Inflence People”, the author found that people that were described as great coversationalists are usually the ones that look like they are actively listening and not talking much.
In my own experience this is is correct.

You should try talking to me instead. I’ll still interrupt and talk over you, but I’ll also repeatedly apologise for it.

Talk to Dad, Dad doesn’t care.
Talk to sister, sister interrupts constantly and just “waits” for her turn to speak.
Talk to brother, brother never stops talking and doesn’t listen.
Talk to mom, get silence because she’s just ash in an urn.
Dude, my family sucks. 😩
JoShmoe@ani.social 11 months ago
Have you tried gulp raising your voice?

You can’t choose your family … but you can choose your friends
I have trouble with my family too … which is why I moved so freaking far away that they are forced to have nice conversations with me at least once a year because they know it will be months before I talk to them again.

Atleast your mum lets you finish a sentence even though she’s a damn paperweight, my mum always gets a phone call whenever i start speaking and forgets about me instantly after that

That’s funny nobody would ever say this to me because I talk way too much.
