Being overly informed is a trap. You definitely don’t need to know every bowel movement Trump takes. I’m sure they’ll eventually prove scientifically that consuming the constant barrage of doom news impairs your ability to effectively plan and organize against “shock and awe” politicians.
I havent watched the news in like 20 years. I feel quite calm. Whats the point of worrying when you cant do anything about it?

Here’s the kicker for most people, THOUGHT EXPERIMENT TIME!!! : for non home owners, how far would you move, and what kind of a career change would you accept in order to be guaranteed an actual house with a mortgage you can definitely afford even serving French fries at McDonalds, and is guaranteed to be paid off within 15yrs? Would you walk away from your current career carte blanche? Cash out your retirement and work construction on homes with the understanding one of the homes you work on is yours at a cost you WILL be able to afford when they are all completed? I personally can’t think of a job I wouldn’t do except prostitution, and naked body shows, meaning I would clean toilets, I would clean dog shit, I would clean up after nasty sex shows so long as i got proper biohazard protection gear, I would walk away from a 20+ yr career as an IT Engineer to learn basic and then advanced construction. I bet I’m not alone.
These are problems for all people, not just the young ones.
That differs for a lot of people.
My wage was nearly unchanged for 15 years(a total increase of €16 per month) while i watched rent and groceries triple in cost.
It all started like: your wage is low, here’s help with the rent insurance and bills plus you’ll be locked into the low rent segment.
Right now they claim i have a high wage and am locked in the high rent segment with no support anymore.
My father however never had the oppertunity to buy and is still renting according to the old rules and pays a third of what i pay for twice the space. His retirement is almost identical to my income.
Yeah it’s definitely conditional and worse the younger you are. If you own a place or have owned a place for a while your overall cost of living is treading water and in some cases even going down over time. That’s definitely not the case for renters.
I really feel like it’s time to worry about making a sustainable, entirely local effort to stop playing the game, and just have your own sources of necessity, like farms, ranches, people willing to build shelter, and just stop doing all this exterior shit. Because pretty soon here in the US the open corruption of kleptocrats is going to inevitably lead to everyone else not caring about the rules no one is paying to be enforced.
I’ve thought the same except climate change will lead to more rolling disasters. For instance, wouldn’t it be great to homestead, but what if extreme heat kills all your crops? You’re dead. This is a global problem that will only change through social change or not and 99% of us die.
So…
The key is to and just believe the over-monetization is good, climate change is overblown and good, and just work harder?

This planet has - or rather had - a problem, which was this: most of the people living on it were unhappy for pretty much of the time. Many solutions were suggested for this problem, but most of these were largely concerned with the movement of small green pieces of paper, which was odd because on the whole it wasn’t the small green pieces of paper that were unhappy.
