Congrats, you are now Flemish!
To give some context: in Belgium there is two main regions, Flanders and Wallonia. Flemish people speaks Flemish Dutch and Walloons speak French.
Since Flemish Dutch and French are the two official language of Belgium a lot of Fleming are learning French as a secondary language to be able to communicate with Walloons. Walloons on the other hand don’t care to learn Flemish Dutch at all.
So as consequence a lot of Flemish do know French but refuse to speak French with Walloons.
So as a French person I ended several time in a situation where I’m trying to communicate in English with a Fleming who refuse to use French with me, until he realize by my accent that I’m not Walloons, then he would start speaking to be in French.

Moderation is the issue with pizza, at least for me.
I’ve been making pizza and pasta from scratch. It’s basically the exact same ingredients:
- flour
- tomatoes
- cheese
But when I’m making pizza I know that I can almost double the amount of flour because we are eating way more pizza than pasta.

- Comment on PRUSA releases the OpenPrintTag, open source standard for filament spool identification and data tracking 2 weeks ago:
By itself, it’s does not solve anything.
However it gives some extra data that can be used by the printer firmware.
The NFC tag contains data about the right printing temperatures, the color, the amount of filament left in there spool …
So a lot of QOL features can be developed with that. For example
- having a message of the amount of filament left in not enough to finish the print I’m about to start,
- auto adjust temperatures depending on the loaded filament,
- importing a library of available filament in the slicer just by taping the spool on the NFC reader.
- using this library of filament for multicolor/multi material printing. So instead of printing selecting each head individually in the slicer and then having to remember to load the right filament, right color in each head you can just select the filament you actually want and the printer will manage.

Which SpaceX contact was a disaster ?
There is a lot to criticize about SpaceX but overall for NASA they’ve been pretty good partners, especially composted to ask the contracts NASA has with traditional aerospace companies.
Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I see several contracts
- The commercial crew development: NASA awarded two contract to SpaceX and Boeing for sending astronauts to the ISS (with Boeing receiving almost twice the amount for the same missions).
- Result: the capsule Crew Dragon has been sending astronauts regularly and safely to the ISS. The only astronauts that used the Starliner capsule from Boeing had to use another capsule (sent by SpaceX) to return because it was too risky to use the Boeing one.
- All the satellites and probed launched for NASA. NASA chose SpaceX for multiple missions, I don’t think any of the missions failed because of SpaceX. It include Europa Clipper, a probe that was originally supposed to be sent on the SLS (the SLS program is a disaster).
- The human landing system: even though there is delays SpaceX is progressing well in the development of the system. Blue origin got a contract as well but so far they only launch their rocket once and didn’t managed to recover the first stage. I don’t know about their moon lander, I don’t think there is many info available about it. As a comparison SpaceX launched the Starship rocket, recovered the first stage AND reused it several times already. Although comparison between the two companies is hard since they have very different approaches.

It took me a week to assemble my mk4 last year, between work, cores and kids but I loved the process.
I loved the process as well. The instruction is very well made and it’s an extremely satisfying process.
The printer is now getting close to 2500 hours of printing and still printing well.

- Comment on "Pro-life" and "pro-choice" aren't actually opposite positions 1 month ago:
Because “pro-life” is not describing their position. They are not even “pro-fetus-life”. They are not taking any action to avoid accidental miscarriage in women, no educative program in this sense or collective action like distributing prenatal vitamins.
No, the only way to describe their position is “anti-abortion”. They are not pro anything, they are anti.
- Comment on How many hands long do they get? 2 months ago:
Yes, since the 60’ in the US the measurements are based on the metric system.
In 1959 the inch was redefined to be exactly 25.4mm.
So the US and any other country using the imperial system is just using metric but which weird conversion just to make things harder.
- Comment on How many hands long do they get? 2 months ago:
Yes, it was implemented during the French revolution.
- Comment on 2 months ago:
I disagree, but in not in your situation so I can be wrong.
Unless you are producing way, way more electricity than you can use I think net metering is a great arrangement for the customer. (Not so much for the utility company)
The electricity is usually bought by the utility company at a much lower cost than what the customer is paying. Because the generation cost is only a percentage of the cost, there is taxes, maintenance of the grid …
For example in France we pay 0.1952€/kWh, but the utility is buying the solar electricity produced by household at 0.04€/kWh.
Meanwhile with net metering your electricity is virtually bought at the same price as what you are buying your electricity for.
- Comment on 2 months ago:
Net metering is great, much better than being paid for the surplus.
With net metering the grid is basically an free, infinite, 100% effective battery.
