That seems somewhat circular to me. Sure, if you define it that narrowly.

Is there a Best of Lemmy? This should definitely be on there. Kudos.
- Comment on How often do guys have a haircut? 2 days ago:
Curly hair, so it often looks shorter than it is. I let it grow until it gets heavy enough to be annoying. 6 months to a year, maybe.

I think intelligence could be malleable to a degree. Neural plasticity is pretty powerful, and we’re still on the cutting edge of figuring that stuff out.

Memory is often used as a facade to demonstrate intelligence that lacks thinking, though.

Didn’t Ramanujan write to a Cambridge professor? His English would be great. Colonial India—a lot of elites would’ve had knowledge of English.

Interesting that he said that, given how much he dunks on philosophers.

Agreed, Leonardo had that natural sense of curiosity and wonder that I can imagine being completely infectious.

Fair point. Probably not very separate to begin with, but definitely so now.

Seconding the bread for sure. German bread (especially rye) is a real treat, and most larger supermarkets have bakeries in them.

I’m also from the Midwest and I lived in Munich for a year. It’s a lovely place. The groceries were cheaper and fresher/better quality, the food was great, public transit was incredibly useful (I’m not sure how it fares in/to Grunwald, but the transit in Munich is quite extensive). At least near the city, most neighborhoods are fairly walkable and have nice neighborhood shops, cafes, etc.
If you’ve been to Aldi in the US at all, definitely check out a German Aldi. It’s next level and amazing. Fresh sliced bread, falafel, mango lassi… I miss it.

Truth to the legends… there’s a reason two separate religious codes banned consumption of pork.
- Comment on If CEOs think they can replace everyone with AI, why do they think Wall St. will need CEOs? 5 weeks ago:
Yup. Everyone turns to 1984 as the dystopia of our time, but it’s really Brave New World, and it’s always been. Even Huxley said as much in a letter to George Orwell, lol.
- Comment on If CEOs think they can replace everyone with AI, why do they think Wall St. will need CEOs? 1 month ago:
Exactly. Everything needs to be peak consumerism, or else their model of “line on the graph infinitely goes up” shatters. It’s a Brave New World dystopia.

Also adding a data point for Optery. I’m sure the other services are comparable, though. Most have free trials.
