- Comment on Data centers are now hoarding SSDs as hard drive supplies dry up 1 day ago:
But the crash is the moment where the people with actual tech knowledge will have leverage to say them: “pay me 10 times my standard rate or get bent”
- Comment on DVDs are the new vinyl records: Why Gen Z is embracing physical media 1 day ago:
With a nice stereo system? There is also specialized hardware that can play and digitize any kind of retro media (cassettes, vinyl, disks)

Basically it’s an interface between your favourite LLM and a bunch of bots that can access your files, calendars, emails and so on.

What, have you never seen a man clone his dead wife into a half-angel, half-teenager?
(Yeah, weird stuff happens in NGE)

Here’s another series no one asked for?
- Comment on Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney supports the $900 million lawsuit against Valve, arguing Steam is "the only major store still holding onto payment ties and 30% junk fee" 3 weeks ago:
They are the most profitable company tech company per employee, of any tech company.
They are also known for not hiring in excess, which leads to company bloat and massive layoff years down the road?

Meanwhile plqces like EA are a bastion of virtue?
- Comment on 'I'll believe it when I see it': Windows 11 users are cynical about Microsoft's promises to fix the OS and stop pushing AI 3 weeks ago:
Unless you are locked in by hardware or some very specific software, you can make a very compelling case on how much your company can save on MS licenses every year.
- Comment on 'Scowling Void of Pure Nothingness': Critics Destroy $75 Million Melania Trump Documentary | Common Dreams 3 weeks ago:
No, the director is laundering money. The movie critic is the one stuck watching the crappy movies.

Because it’s their job? They can’t just watch what they like.

That’s the origin story of The Matrix. Only, we don’t have real AI but glorified chatbots.
- Comment on Microsoft’s $440 billion wipeout, and investors angry about OpenAI’s debt, explained 3 weeks ago:
They presented to you a reasonable use case (assisted learning) and your response was “lol, you’re just lazy. Do it on your own”.
I am in a similar position, networking is Martian to me and if I search guides on how to do stuff, it’s full of people that go “just use X to do a reverse proxy”, as if I have 200h of experience under my belt. I’d rather have a chatbot explain to me like I am 5 in some cases.

Because the last time someone introduced an invasive species to a completely different environment worked extremely well.

- Comment on Wine 11 runs Windows apps in Linux and macOS better than ever 5 weeks ago:
I have been a bit cautious because of the merge with Canva, but Affinity v3 works under Linux. There is a non-official project for helping with installation
github.com/ryzendew/Linux-Affinity-Installer
It is supposed to work with v2 also, but I couldn’t test it because the distro I use is not compatible (yet)
- Comment on Wine 11 runs Windows apps in Linux and macOS better than ever 5 weeks ago:
Software outside of gaming usually has native alternatives, so unless you are forced by your employer to use a specific program it is less of an issue (since you are probably also forced to use Windows)

Yes, it was the base tier in the episode (not free). You’ll forgive me, it’s been a some time since I watched it.

Literally that Black Mirror episode, where the woman has a brain implant to cure a brain trauma, and they put ads in her speech because she is on the free subscription tier.

I didn’t even know what an em dash was before ChatGPT, so I guess that’s a positive result of LLM.

I know one such person and can confirm they don’t have a basic understanding of chemistry. When I asked what would an alkaline diet consist of, I have been told a list of mostly acidic fruit and vegetables. And for some reason “refined” carbohydrates are evil.

I don’t know. Is arxiv peer-reviewed? The “best” solution I can come up with, is paying the extra 500$ fee to publish under open license,if the journal allows you.
- Comment on 🏃♀️ 🏃♀️ 🏃♀️ 6 months ago:
Here’s another trick for obtaining free articles: write an email to the author and ask for a copy. We have to pay to publish on journals and don’t see a dime, so we really don’t care if you pirate it.
