Next time I’m in an airport food court I’ll try to really take in the view of the cinnabon next to the starbucks.

Is it just me, or does she look GINORMOUS compared to that child? He looks at least 3, but is the relative size of my 5 month old?

If you’re looking for a more schlocky horror experience, give Resident Evil 8 a try! Extremely fun to play with a story that would be kinda ‘eh’ if the performances didn’t elevate it to cult-following b-movie perfection.
Subnautica would be a good game to transition from the end of summer to the beginning of fall. Spooky atmosphere where you play (almost) entirely underwater.
Crow Country came out earlier this year and definitely capitalizes on PS1 era horror games. In that vein also, Signalis is an excellent cerebral sci-fi horror.
- Comment on Spooky Games 2 months ago:
Horror comedies are definitely a thing, but tbh I’d still consider Alan Wake 2 an outright horror even with the lighter stuff! Very spooky elements, with great writing and story crafting. Bonus points if you play Remedy’s other games for the Easter eggs

None of the others are as good as Until Dawn, imo, unfortunately :( I keep hoping, but no joy every time

Fucking thank you. Men’s libbers (and there’s a loooooot of them on lemmy, as you can see in your downvotes) like to trot out the “men don’t report because of stigma!” line, but it’s like, my guy, women do too?? For every woman brave enough to report, there’s anywhere from 5-10 that don’t report at all due to fear/stigma.
Of course rape happens to men (mostly by other men) too. But, couple things:
- it’s not a competition or dick measuring contest. Rape is bad, m’kay? Regardless of gender.
- it’s disingenuous to say that it happens to men just as much, or more. It feels icky, like they’re shoving themselves in a victimhood narrative where they don’t belong.

It was really depressing when I found that Pendleton, literally THE wool store, is mostly dealing in poly-wool blends now. That completely defeats the purpose of the wool?? A breathable fabric that stays warm when wet for winter, but can also keep you cool in summer? Yeah, let’s just shove some plastic in there. Fucking capitalist brain-rot of these companies, man.

Fair enough, thanks for chiming in and correcting me! I’ll remove mine too, so it’s not overly antagonistic in an inappropriate place (though I do think what I said was accurate, just not the place to discuss it, haha)

I have a surface duo 2 right now, and had the Motorola razor (rip the iconic chin design they ditched with the new models) before that. Emulating the ds on a flip phone is goated

But that’s kinda part of the challenge of the game, though, right? Having to adapt to various layouts is part of the puzzle aspect of each map, imo
- Comment on Whistleblower 'would not' put family on Boeing 787 jet 6 months ago:
Idk… That might even out. During a 30 drive, I’d probably add on at least 8-9 hours for every 8-9 driven, because that’s as long as I can stand to drive at a stretch without needing to find a hotel to stop for the night. Driving for that long is goddamned miserable, and at least in a train you can book an overnight car to sleep in so that even when you sleep travel keeps happening.
Idk, maybe I’m totally off base and this is totally personal preference, but if I’m already driving that far, I’d rather just take the train to not have to worry about driving myself.

Intend to watch the full thing later, but I already love his style based on the opening minutes! The interviews remind me of old PBS/Nova style documentaries where so much of them was just letting people talk and tell their stories. Very cool!

- Comment on What games do you replay regularly/annually ? 7 months ago:
I always think of myself as being in between runs of the Long Dark; it’s the game I’m always in a state of playing for long stretches, even if it’s been 6 months to a year since I last booted it up. You just can’t beat that first gameplay loop of trying to find something, anything, to keep warm and stay alive for another day.
I don’t agree with some of the choices they’ve made with the new dlc, but it remains my most played game of all time and is a GOAT for sure.
- Comment on If Adams Apples are primarily male, why aren't they a common fetish? 8 months ago:
Asking why a fetish isn’t common is kinda oxymoronic, in a way, considering all true fetishes are pretty rare. If you just mean ‘why aren’t they seen as attractive by straight women/other male-attracted groups’ then I can assure you they are.
The whole neck, collar bone, shoulder and peck area is like, my favorite part of the male form, and I am not alone by a long shot. Maybe talk to more women about this stuff lol.
Lots of us appreciate several parts of male anatomy in similar ways that straight men do female anatomy.
- Comment on The Terrible Costs of a Phone-Based Childhood 8 months ago:
As an example of this, if I got a C on any report card/progress report, my parents would take my phone away for the following 9 weeks until the next one came out with better grades. As a kid with undiagnosed ADHD, that meant I had my phone taken away…a lot. As a result, I had no real friendships by the end of high school, and ate my lunch alone every day. If you couldn’t text people/connect on socials, then you never got included in plans or developed those relationships with anyone.
It was lonely, painful, and it fucking sucked. My parents were too wanna-be Boomer to give a shit or even ask. I don’t speak to them any more for that and other reasons.
So yeah, social media may suck, but cutting your child off from modern social circles is a much worse parenting choice. Ideally you’d keep an eye on their use and help them form a healthier relationship with it. But I understand parenting is hard, especially when both parents work full time jobs.
- Comment on What are some good games with *zero* replayability? 8 months ago:
Funnily enough, what that review said is basically what I said in my review about chants of shenaar, except without the glowing praise. Lots of tedious running across maps and very surface level language-puzzling, whereas I don’t remember any tedium with heaven’s vault at all. I guess different strokes for different folks?
I would say, it’s such a unique and well-executes concept that I would give it a play yourself to see what you think. It’s one of those games I haven’t found a replacement for, even with chants of shenaar.
- Comment on What are some good games with *zero* replayability? 8 months ago:
If you liked chants of shenaar, check out heaven’s vault. I think it does what chants of shenaar does, but better, and it did it years before. It was a bit strange to me to see chants of shenaar get so much hype, but have heaven’s vault stay slept on.
