When I used to swim we’d be told to just swim it off. Calf, foot, right above the knee were all things you could kinda dead leg and use the flip turn to unkink, but now and then you’d get a hamstring cramp and that’s when you just sink and stretch. There is no negotiating with a hamstring cramp.

It’s the gap over the top that you have to really worry about when people start heaping handfuls of water onto you.

It is a little odd that it’s going to KY from CA. All that stuff is produced in the south by big tobacco so normally it’s going the opposite direction. Maybe it was repackaged in CA, who knows.
This was released to someone they thought was legit, and then they disappeared. So someone was able to show up with the right bill of lading numbers and their info must have checked out to get loaded. So you’ve a either hack or someone on the inside.

- Comment on Nearly a third of Pennsylvania gamblers are at risk of problem gambling − but few seek treatment 3 weeks ago:
It’s not just online gambling.
I live in PA and every gas station and vape shop have “skill games” now. 15 years ago association with these things sunk a few local politicians, now they’re at every corner. And maybe I shouldn’t judge a book by the cover, but the people I see playing them don’t look all that up on their luck. I don’t keep a strong routine but I still see the same faces at the gas station at these machines.
And because of PA laws, gas stations that serve alcohol must have a place on site you can consume. So it’s like there’s mini casinos every 5 miles across the state now.

- Comment on Is "dark humor" generally acceptable or is it just my parents/culture more sensitive towards jokes? 3 weeks ago:
And too frequently the person not getting it is the person who thinks they’re great at dark humor.
- Comment on Is "dark humor" generally acceptable or is it just my parents/culture more sensitive towards jokes? 3 weeks ago:
I think this is less about the humor, and more about the superstition about speaking something into reality.
Here’s a story for you. My grandmother never struck me as on overly superstitious person. But she was very serious when she told me that one day she had a friend over eating in her kitchen when a blackbird flew in through the window. Her friend told her that it was a really bad omen, specifically that it was a harbinger of death. The next day my grandmother’s first born was killed in a hit and run.
She couldn’t get over why her friend would even say that out loud. Not really because she thought her friend was clairvoyant but because it poisoned their relationship. She’s got one of the most negative moments in her life made even worse because of a callous prediction a friend made that now tolls like a bell any time her son comes to mind.
There are some forms of negativity that are better off left unsaid. You saying it isn’t going to burn down the house. But one day you might wish you hadn’t said it.
In the end, are you any less frugal than your parents? When confronted with an issue, all you could afford was a mean spirited “joke” that isn’t funny. People are accepting of dark humor if it actually is humorous.

The last thing our three headed beast of a tech sector wants is Linux to take off, especially right now. It’s not just about the Steam Deck, but everything Valve is bankrolling and developing.
