It desensitises the dick. Same reason for FGM. Beyond all of this, it is just a marker for tribal in-groups, a method of trust for converts into the religion, and a method of control.

I hear that mentioning lemmy as a reddit alternative attracts the ban hammer on reddit nowadays. I do it anyways when I’m feeling cheeky.

I had actual pomegranate juice from the side of the road, from a literal four sticks and a tarp set up with a hand cranked, 100 year old looking juicing contraption. The man selling was weatherbeaten and old as fuck, but when I had my drink and the I have seen the light look on my face from tasting proper, real pomegranate juice for the first time, he chuckled and told me he sees that face very often.

I feel strange when instead of deleted it is a random bunch of words, a trademark of actively having used some browser extension to clear out your posts and comments as part of the exodus from reddit.
Then I feel good about seeing the effects of protesting against the reddit megacorp, but also hair pullingly annoyed because FUCK NOW WHAT DO I DO ABOUT THIS TOASTER

Problem is critical mass for communities that simply won’t happen because of the overall demographics of Lemmy’s userbase - it would make little sense to have a community centered around, say, Facebook or Google products because the common Lemmy user is inclined to dislike either of them.

My situation was a dorm room situation I couldn’t get out for a WHOLE FUCKING YEAR. The caretaker didn’t give a shit, all my dorm mates slept with a lighter close by, lighter fluid was traded around like cigarettes and blowies in a jail yard.
We got our revenge on the asshole caretaker though, the bugs managed to infest that guys room too. Unlike us he couldn’t just get up and leave at the end of the year. Fuck that guy.
If I have to travel, I keep my luggage out the door and check the entire fucking room like I’m Brezhnev’s Soviet security detail in the 1973 Washington summit visit. No stone unturned, no corner or edge left unchecked.
Fuck Bedbugs.

Thanks for the info. Usually information like this is locked in forums that are too technical for me. I’ve had a newborn interest in bootloaders after having some issues with grub some time ago and more recently, migrating to grapheneOS.

I hope you have a speedy and painless solution to our problem, but I’m really glad I’m not you OP. My god, if I never see these bastards again it will be too soon.

Eyy you didn’t mention the distro you jumped to. Around these parts, that’s a spanking.
Out with the distro or prepare your buttcheeks!

If you’re using a new computer with Nvidia graphics, expect that to be a pain point. I’ve also had issues with the grub bootloader though within weeks I had a mitigation flow. Just remember to have a second computer around to use the internet to troubleshoot, and put important info you need that you work on on the PC on an attached thumbdrive also. This way you don’t have to worry about losing data. Makes the migration a lot more peaceful.
