  Houses of worship with security make me chuckle.

  “Look, we don’t really believe.”

  The premise of their organizations is assurity in God’s plan for their lives and an afterlife.

  If someone comes in and kills them the worst that happens is a beeline to heaven, according to their supposed beliefs.

  Security (or emergency medical care, in this instance) only delays when they get to reach the place they claim they want to go, and insinuates they aren’t true believers.

  Funny stuff.

    Okay but if this article was about churches NOT teaching first aid after having been through several mass shootings, you would criticize them for that too.

    I argue this point a lot when I was younger and a “believer”. They always seem to take more precautions against death then the average person.

    I once told a Christian that was so goddammit precaution that they shouldn’t look both ways when crossing a street. After all you go straight to heaven want you?

    Most Christian I met fear death more than anyone you met. Even ones that swear they are true believers. I’m talking speaking tongues etc fear dying. I think deep down they all had doubts.

    I think it human nature to want proof of things and with god there is none. Hence deep down they fear death. Or they fear hell because they all know they are not good Christians and deserve hell.

  I like the idea of being proactive instead of reactive. NJ hasn’t had any mass shootings since 2019 but, the state seems to be prepared for these kinds of tragedies. Good for them.

      Thanks for the stats. I suppose I could have adjusted my phrasing to specify a shooting where people congregate. Drive by mass shootings are also a problem.

      I’m certain these kits have the potential to help outside the houses of worship as well. I would hope they would use the kits on anyone who needs them.

  On a technical comment. In my country the use of tourniquets is not allowed for civilians and was excluded from first aid training. Only certified emergency paramedics are allowed to apply one now. Too many panicked well intended but ultimately confused people used them wrong and caused a lot of deaths from complication to people who would’ve otherwise survived.

    Banking tourniquets is really dumb. The number one way people die after getting shot (besides the bullet) is from bleeding. It only takes a couple minutes for you to bleed out and die, and tourniquets save lives.

      I agree but people were putting them on superficial stab wounds, not tightening them sufficiently, and wouldn’t control time of placement correctly leading to several preventable deaths. People who weren’t even remotely in life or death situations ended up death from tourniquet related complications. Weapons and gunshot wounds on limbs aren’t even remotely as frequent as in the US to warrant having tourniquets used by first aid amateurs.

  Why churches instead of schools? Why is taxpayer money being used to supply private churches when our public schools are goddamned shooting galleries? Why is DHS super concerned with helping christians to prep instead of putting these supplies where shootings actually happen, schools? What kinda conspiracy bullshit is this that “theyre coming for your churches and bibles”? So fucking done with this shithole country.

    2. DHS isn’t involved, this is FEMA and NJOHSP
    3. The Interfaith Advisory Council helps churches, synagogues, temples and mosques
