no idea how but it looked white to me until the colour appeared
OpenStars@startrek.website 9 months ago
Well, now I’m back on my original device (laptop), and I see the color too. Maybe it was legit white there for a bit, like a partial file upload that somehow finished?
Surely that’s it. All the other comments, all the upvotes for my comment, yes, all the evidence points to that. Indeed. Surely. Indubitably.
… and yet. I prefer the alternative facts explanation that I am simply a crazy person:-P.

That's not Fürst Pückler, that's Napoleon!

For a moment I imagined Napoleon having a finer taste in ice creams
Phoenix3875@lemmy.world 9 months ago
There’s indeed a cake called Napoleon, which is not invented by Napoleon. I know at least in Russia and China, this cake is known by the name of Napoleon cake.
Legend has it that the name originates from the Napoleonic war with Russia and since people have to throw the cake to the ground (table?) to break the sugar layer on top of it and thus the Russian people call it Napoleon so that they are breaking Napoleon.
I see no mention of this etymology elsewhere, so take this with a grain of salt.

Ohh no, given enough time even the ideas will die.
cm0002@lemmy.world 9 months ago
I’m not so sure about that, religion is still unfortunately going strong some 6000 years later.
I’m not entirely unconvinced that religion wasn’t just some prank some guy thousands of years ago cooked up that just completely and utterly spiraled from them lmfao
eager_eagle@lemmy.world 9 months ago
I’m sure plenty of ideas died in the meantime. But yeah, fuck religion.
rocket_brewster@lemmy.world 9 months ago
The measure of an ideas longevity is how much can someone get out of that idea. People can be made into billionaires off religious manipulation but it’s difficult to persistently benefit from Neapolitan ice cream beyond how tasty it is
dudinax@programming.dev 9 months ago
Religion is obviously a mix of history with lame answers parents came up with because their annoying kids wouldn’t stop asking questions and the stupid kids believed them.

You should read up on the history of the Illuminati. It’s pretty much that haha

Spumoni > Neapolitan. Fite me.
EtherWhack@lemmy.world 9 months ago
Unfortunately, it’s near impossible to find in the US

The old spaghetti factory still serves it
grue@lemmy.world 9 months ago
That’s a good point. I only have it once a year, because there’s one specific Italian restaurant I go to that gives you a free meal on your birthday and includes spumoni for dessert. I’ve never actually noticed it available anywhere else.

i don’t think it has anything to do with him though
stevehobbes@lemy.lol 9 months ago
Indeed not because it’s a shitpost sub; it’s Neapolitan not Napoleon, Neapolitan meaning of Naples, Italy, they could have also used a Mille Feuille which we call a Napoleon in the US that he also didn’t have anything to do with except they were popular in fancy shops during his reign.
