- Comment on That time when Microsoft bought and killed Nokia phone unit 6 months ago:
To be fair, Microsoft only bought and killed off the phone division. The rest of Nokia is still around including their R&D department bell labs. You know the same bell labs that’s developed some little know inventions like C and C++, solar panels, the transistor, and UNIX…

Amtrak can pull your own private rail car. Nothing says that car couldn’t be the US’s navy’s armored caboose which may or may not actually have anti air weapons (classified)

Which polestar?
The polestar 1 is a hybrid (discontinued)
Polestar 2 charges 20% to 80% in 28 minutes using LGES or CATL batteries depending on spec
Polestar 3 (unreleased) charges 20% to 80% in 30 minutes using LNMC batteries
Polestar 4 (unreleased) charges 20% to 80% in 30 minutes using LNMC batteries
Polestar 5 (unreleased) is still in development

You have to talk to a Westinghouse sells rep. If you want uranium outside of a fuel rod most chemical supplier sell it.

The avarage used car loan in the United States is 26k. That price is not “out of reach for the vast majority of people buying used cars”.

This is just a distraction while valve nerfs the bison again.
- Comment on Tesla to lay off everyone working on Superchargers, new vehicles 6 months ago:
Your thesis is fundamentally flawed though because you are taking your situation and extrapolating to the public as a whole. While I’ll agree the market for new EVs is stupid right now the used market is far from. I say that writing this from my 22’ model 3 I paid 18k for used. And that price wasn’t a fluke.
I’d also like to add the last mile transportation I was referring to isn’t public transport or some ride share app but the industry of van drivers who specialize in business transport. Companies like PTI or Halcon who specialize in getting you from anywhere to anywhere.
- Comment on Tesla to lay off everyone working on Superchargers, new vehicles 6 months ago:
But it’s still going to be fast (and cheaper with wages factored in) to fly and then use one of the countless ‘last mile transportation’ options available when the distance is greater than an EVs range while you can’t afford to loose time to charging. The only exceptions I see is those jobs who need tools/supplies on site in which case you are almost definitely taking a fleet vehicle and this whole problem is moop.
- Comment on Tesla to lay off everyone working on Superchargers, new vehicles 6 months ago:
If it’s a business trip where time matters where you can’t afford to loose 25 minutes every few hours, why are you driving instead of flying?
- Comment on Tesla to lay off everyone working on Superchargers, new vehicles 6 months ago:
The part about not suing tesla over patent infringement was the true poison pill and why no one took them up on it. Ford has over 79000 patents alone and that’s just one auto manufacture.
- Comment on Why people are boycotting Asus all of a sudden? Asus outrage explained 6 months ago:
The problem with asus was all the engineers who cared went to asrock when they split. For those who don’t know, asrock started life as a subsidiary for asus to cover the low end and OEM markets. There used to be a lot of shared engineering between the two companies but there started to be some bad blood between each other as asus was releasing server hardware and asrock was releasing enthusiasts hardware. Ultimately it was decided since neither side wanted to stop stepping on the others toes they would let asrock fully separate from asus as a company and let the market decide things. Ironically that only lasted for three years before the majority stake was bought up by Pegatron, a company owned partially owned by asus…
- Comment on Why people are boycotting Asus all of a sudden? Asus outrage explained 6 months ago:
A lot of their shady practices are on their laptop side. For example their ROG laptops support USB PD as their main way of charging however asus forces you to use their own chargers. If you decide to use a third party USB PD charger (of the same wattage or greater mind you) then your laptop will disable the dedicated GPU and limits your fan speed profile to silent which causes your CPU to throttle under heavy load.

I posted this in another thread but it doesn’t, DMA boards are capable of spoofing other PCIE device IDs which was one of the few ways vanguard used to detect DMA boards. - Comment on US patent office confirms AI can’t hold patents 8 months ago:
One click purchasing is a website element not a layout. If you read the patent there’s a bit more going on then just here’s a button that purchases items. The patent describes how the front end and backend works in order to make it work and that’s what separates it from being ‘just a layout’ and makes it patentable.
- Comment on US patent office confirms AI can’t hold patents 9 months ago:
That’s a horrible idea as it would essentially would prevent anyone but mega corporations from obtaining a patent. Right now for around 20k anyone can get a patent on their original idea but if you change it to R&D investment protection some company could just out spend you on R&D (whether or not that even makes it a better product mind you) and claim the patent. This would kill many small businesses industries especially the hobbyist accessories business.

- Comment on Proton Mail says that the new Outlook app for Windows is Microsoft's new data collection service 10 months ago:
That’s my problem with proton as their marketing would lead you to believe their email is completely encrypted. Their marketing really needs a asterisk that tells you exactly what is encrypted and when.
- Comment on Wi-Fi 7 Signals the Industry’s New Priority: Stability 10 months ago:
I know this is a joke but please do not buy repeaters they do not work how you would expect them to work.
Repeaters take an already weak signal and amplify that signal while increasing the latency. Sure this makes the signal go farther but it doesn’t increase the bandwidth and if you stand in between the originating wifi source and the repeater your device may not migrate to the source wifi even though it might be faster because the reapeter has the illusion of being a better signal because it’s louder.
The better route to go is to use multiple wifi APs through out the building connected back to your router with ethernet.
You could also go with mesh access points but you have to do a lot of research and planning; The two key things to look out for is they mesh system must have a dedicated backhaul and you must place them where each node has an excellent signal to the next node. Since most backhauls run on 5Ghz and 6Ghz this means there shouldn’t be any walls between them.
