I swear to Apophis I can hear this thing all the way through the cold vacuum of space just by looking at that picture.

I’ve never actually seen it… I just know enough to get away with some passing references

Like TNG, the pilot episode is a solid intro, but the first season is rrrough. Y’know “Code of Honor?” The same writer submitted the same script as “Emancipation.”
Decent formula episodes: Cor-Ai (s1e16), A Matter Of Time (s2e16), The Other Side (s4e2), Scorched Earth (s4e9), The Fifth Man (s5e4), Revisions (s7e5).
… and honestly the episode everyone goes on about is not a bad introduction. Window Of Opportunity (s4e6) stands alone.

I finally watched it a few years ago, I’ll say it was worth it, you’ll find even more memes

The Ori and Pah Wraiths are startlingly similar.

These often get a chuckle, but this one made me laugh out loud right in the classroom.

Hope they evacuated the top part, because that’s gone.

I love how they have said that big splosh vaporizes everything it touches, but then the effect is literally just water.

I want to see Jadzia meeting Sam Carter. The nerding out would be legit.

SG1 and DS9 would be a weird crossover.
You have the humans of the enlightened future meeting a team of military personnel from the past, lead by a man who tries to avoid enlightenment whenever possible. He’d probably end up in Quark’s playing darts.
Carter is going to immediately frustrate any attempts to limit damage to the timeline (not that it makes sense given that they’d have be from a parallel reality) or invoke the prime directive. She’s going to be full of questions, and she knows enough about advanced alien technology that she’ll probably be able to figure out more than they’d want just from observation. She’d also probably figure out how to use the wormhole to get back home, being something of an expert on the topic.
Daniel is going to have the unique experience of being an archeologist that is now a relic of the past. Not much for him to do as a linguist since they have universal translators, though it would be funny if they brought it up and he thought they had all just been speaking English, since everyone in their galaxy does for some reason. It’d so be funny for him to be recognized by the prophets or Q, as though they knew him from his brief period as a vorlon or whatever.
I think Dax and Teal’c would hit it off, they have so much in common.
And things would get very confusing if someone activated an emh.
Also probably for the best that the Atlantis team isn’t there, as O’Brien would have some awkward questions to answer. Besides, they’re already too busy crossing over with Enterprise and answering their own awkward questions about Tripp.

I would watch deep stargate 9
Matombo@feddit.de 1 year ago
I think you downloaded the wrong stargate
RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Sure. Let’s throw a Greg Evigan in there and then sink the whole thing in the ocean.

The Prime Directive wouldn’t even apply. The Ta’uri have been properly FTL capable ever since they started producing the F-302 in what, the year 2000? As much as Starfleet would hate it, SG1 represents a humanity that is wearing the big boy pants just like they are.

If we aren’t being strict about warp technology specifically as the measuring stick, I think the gate network itself would qualify, even if they weren’t the ones that built it.
That said, the principle of noninterference likely should apply to some extent at least. After all the trash talking they’ve done over the years about people in the 20th/21st century, it would be crazy to let a military unit from that era get access to anything that might help them advance technologically. Especially when they’ve already got a history of capturing and reverse engineering alien technology. And all the more so when it becomes clear that any technology they do get their hands on will be used almost exclusively for the purpose of fighting alien civilizations (and perhaps even others on their own planet).
In the long run, if a stargate found it’s way onto DS9 or Bajor and permanent relations were established, I could see the federation providing aid to the Tau’ri to help them fend off the Goa’uld and/or the Ori, which they could justify because they would be preventing an advanced civilization from exploiting a technologically inferior one. But I have to think it would take them a while to get to that point.

You are really crossing the streams on this one. But fuck, it was a missed opportunity not to have John de Lancie as a cameo in that diner.
“O’Neill - you punched an admiral?”
“I mistook him for someone else. A real sonofabitch.”
“Who’s he a mirror of in your timeline?”
“The vice president.”

O’Neill (two Ls) absolutely would not be just sitting in a bar playing darts. He’d be poking around where he should be, telling Daniel to ask his annoyingly humanitarian questions to make sure DS9 isn’t some weird hidden prison camp (anymore) and probably trying to step in to help assist against the dominion. If it’s Mitchell, above still applies but he’d also be participating. I assume it would have to be Mitchell if the Atlantis team is able to appear, but hey it’s time travel baby! Rules go byebye. Sha’re and Drey’ac could show up too.
Daniel is always translating for the group, and we only get to hear other languages spoken when Daniel has trouble translating. It’s their version of handwaving why everyone speaks English instead of handwaving as a universal translator (that wouldn’t work if you aren’t on a ship or don’t have a comm badge or are on a planet where no tech works, but everyone still understands each other anyway)
And Carter would be having so much fun trying to figure out how all the tech works, I think she would demand to see the chief engineer and science officer. Things could get weird if she’s read the Atlantis mission files yet.
And if it’s the Atlantis team showing up, they’re probably going to assume someone figured out Laiden’s plans, saved Cowen, and now they’re plotting revenge on a repurposed mining station from a long dead civilization.
Man there are so many actors that have been in both franchises, it’s hard to pick which would be the most interesting in-character interaction to see.
Jellico/O’Neill would be hilarious. The Nox could sure teach quark a thing or two. I’d love to see Q come face to face with Simmons. Teyla rounding a corner and running into Tucker would certainly be a fight worth watching.
I wonder, would Teal’c even recognize Ishta as tpol?
