I would love to see Darling in the next game. Through the very process he describes here.

I loved this game. I need to buy the big edition, the dlc was as fun as the main game (and added some cool shit) which is rare
edinbruh@feddit.it 5 months ago
There are two DLCs, Foundation and AWE, did you get both? I think AWE is good, but Foundation is really great

Ultimate edition was 4 bucks. I had hoped for ps5 (that chair is more comfy) but I couldn’t pass up that price

Pretty sure this is the voice actor of Alan wake. I played them backwards, control first then Alan wake and I knew I recognized the voice.
daannii@lemmy.world 5 months ago
Yes. Dr darling is the same actor as Alan wake. Not just same voice but same guy. It’s crazy how different he looks and sounds as Dr darling.
edinbruh@feddit.it 5 months ago
Nope, Alan Wake is voiced by Matthew Porretta (Darling) but acted by Ilkka Villi. Just like Alex Casey and Max Payne are acted by Sam Lake (the creative director of Remedy) but voiced by James McCaffrey (Director Trench)

This got me to look at Control for the first time, and I can’t wait to play it.
Ultimate edition currently on sale on Steam for only $3.99!

Wait what ty I love this game but only had it on the online service bullshit for Playstation
daannii@lemmy.world 5 months ago
You are in for a real treat when you get to the astray maze.
No spoilers but.
Be ready for something . Wear headphones during it, if you can.
RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 5 months ago
Which do you like better? The Ashtray Maze or The Interlude from AW2?
HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 5 months ago
No put on the 7.2 surround
nutbutter@discuss.tchncs.de 5 months ago
After that play Quantum Break, then Alan Wake and Alan Wake II. I am sure you have played Max Payne 1 and 2 already. Yes, they are all connected, kind of.

I couldn’t get into Alan waffle 1. I’m not sure if it was the bullshit flashlight battery mechanic or something else it’s been a while, but I enjoyed what of the story I played. I think I checked it out from the library and wanted to play something else.

It’s fantastic all the way through. The janitor missions are the best.
bridgeenjoyer@sh.itjust.works 5 months ago
Its amazing. You wont want it to end

I love the idea of Objects that can do things we can’t explain.
The Lost Room is probably what got me started, and Control really scratches that itch. I absolutely love the idea of The Oldest House.
daannii@lemmy.world 5 months ago
Love the lost room. Also the scp universe ties in nicely to it and remedy universe.
Postmortal_Pop@lemmy.world 5 months ago
Holy shit a Lost Room mentiom that isn’t my own alt account! I loved the concept of that so much I bought it on dvd. Still great show all the way through. Hit me up if you need a copy.
absentbird@lemmy.world 5 months ago
I just watched it last year, really solid show, I wish I’d seen it years ago.
SARGE@startrek.website 5 months ago
I still have the VHS I recorded it on back in the day. No vcr, but it’s sitting in a box in my closet, waiting for the day when I want to see commercials for SG1 Mondays and other Sci fi shows.
Also the DVD, since I actually want to watch it every so often…
I keep introducing it to new people, but it seems to be a bit of a niche interest.

Every time I remember about this game I remember this in specific www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAYDNGlcVxQ

A great example of saying nothing, but causing a sense of panic.
primrosepathspeedrun@anarchist.nexus 5 months ago
Not saying nothing. It’s a fantasy/scifi setting where materialism is almost certainly wrong and the pneuma (Kinda. Mostly.) is not only real a place you can go and fuck around with.
Like “what if the Nazis won world war 2 and movies were multiverse fuckery magic” or “what if we brought dinosaurs back for a theme park”. It’s explaining lore if the setting and why a magic Bakelite telephone that makes you levitate or whatever is a cohesive part of the setting and thread you can follow and not just random bullshit, some of the logic of some of the mysteries and puzzles in the game(s), etc.

God I love this game. God I love Remedy.
Tigeroovy@lemmy.ca 5 months ago
Same, I already liked them because of Max Payne but now with Alan Wake, Control, and Alan Wake 2? They’ve got me hooked!
Also honourable mention to Quantum Break!
Banana@sh.itjust.works 5 months ago
Quantum Break, the only thing keeping that game from being as good as it could’ve been was that Microsoft owned it
daggermoon@lemmy.world 5 months ago
I need to finish this game. I was really enjoying it.
