Not using zfs at this point, but this sounds like a good thing to keep in mind
- Comment on [deleted] 2 weeks ago:
The reason I suspected temps was I changed very recently to a define r6 (got it second hand). And since the start I am a bit suspicious of how it performs thermally (terms of sound is actually quite OK).
I do have a fan on the drives but still one of the drives goes up to 40C still (even with front door open).
Also, when you talk about fsck, what could be good options for this to check the drive?
- Comment on [deleted] 2 weeks ago:
I am also inclining in this direction. I just ordered a new 8tb drive, and will proceed with smart long tests. When you tall about secure erase, are we talking using dd with /Dev/null?

I am sad because unlike this cat, I can’t lick my nose

What filter are we even talking here? Are they filtering any automatic mentions for Lemmy? If that is the case, that is some petty shit

That is bizarre… What could possibly be the issue with this post on reddit?
- Comment on How to keep track of system temps and hardware health indicators via dashboard with a proxmox installation? 1 month ago:
I did know about zabbix before, and I actually did try to install it before using the proxmox helper scripts page. Somehow, by the end I for a blank page. Hence I made this post to see more alternatives.
I do know zabbix is super recognized in this area. I just did not install it successfuly on my previous attempt

I will look into this one. First impressions looks interesting, thanks for mentioning it!

I will check how that one works. I was not planning to have another machine to do dadhboarding, bit maybe there are ways to host this as a VM or lxc and make it that way
- Comment on How to keep track of system temps and hardware health indicators via dashboard with a proxmox installation? 1 month ago:
Those are good questions. I would prefer somewhere in the page of proxmox to have this info. If that is not feasible for any amount of reasons, second best option is to have a service to have a dashboard page. I did forget about graphana, but I can look into it

Can we agree air fryer is just a rebranding of convection oven? Also, it is useful (specifically for smaller kitchens)

- Comment on 1U mini PC for AI? 3 months ago:
I tried a couple of times with Jen ai and local llama, but somehow does not work that well for me.
But at the same time i have a 9070xt, so, not exactly optimal
- Comment on 1U mini PC for AI? 3 months ago:
So is not on this rack. OK because for a second I was thinking somehow you were able to run ai tasks with some sort of small cluster.
I have nowadays a 9070xt on my system. I just dabbled on this, but until now I havent been that successful. Maybe I will read more into it to understand better.

I have a question about ai usage on this: how do you do this? Every time I see ai usage some sort of 4090 or 5090 is mentioned, so I am curious what kind of ai usage you cab do here

The real question is: can you deep fry a microwave? Bonus points for turning on the microwave on after

Huh. Somehow this could potentially be a movie plot. Is there something out there that uses this as a plot device?

Legit question: if anyone wants to visit Albania, what would be the best things to do? Once I made a plan to go there but didn’t happen ( we planned mostly nature walking and hiking)

It uses Linux? That’s actually nice to see (but do you really need a full blown OS to show a logo?)

There is a podcast about this called “better offline”. I will say right off the bat: his delivery is not always great, but at least explains clearly what is wrong with ai at this point. From an economical stand point, this whole endeavour is weird that is even a thing. However, we have bosses that are SALIVATING to get people replaced, because frankly they cannot think of anything else.
- Comment on Done with being the one in charge of maintaining friendships 4 months ago:
I had this problem several times as well. I was told once I should at least extent my hand and be the one starting the conversation. Thing is, if I am doing that all the time and I never have it the other way around, means 2 things: either they don’t care enough to even ask how I am doing, and/or take for granted I deal with that.
Most relationships are a 2 way street. You may start the conversation a couple of times, but if you keep doing with 0 payout, eventually falls off.
This also reminds me of the people that only bother to tell something on birthdays (only if it is visible somewhere like LinkedIn or so), and/or Xmas just to give happy birthday/holidays. If the conversation is that short every time (get felicitations and say thanks, not much more), then maybe don’t bother saying anything at all. And please, do not only reach out when you have problems. If we didn’t talk for years, and you tell me how I am doing just to ask for a favor, please kindly fuck off. Got several time those as well.
- Comment on Anyone use Hetzner Storage Box to backup their Synology NAS? 4 months ago:
I am using them on a small storage box (around 2tb) and I am quite happy with it. One of the things that I particularly liked is the documentation. If you have a use case for rsync, Borg backup or others, it’s probably covered in their documentation (plus, never had an outage or issue with my data). I didn’t use their support at this point, but ibheard good things about it as well.

Frankly? No idea. I know taxidermy can be a touchy subject, but I do not know how it is treated. And mind you, this is eBay around early 2000’s
