They fucked around with our water, and now are moaning that there’s consequences? I hope they get nationalised. Can’t happen quickly enough. It’s a shame that the people at the top of Thames Water can just make off with their ill-gotten gains, and all have golden parachutes. Some community service wouldn’t go amiss.
We face nationalisation if we’re not let off fines, Thames Water warns

All good. Nationalise or regulate to where we might not have to have faeces regularly dumped in our waterways because you’ve unjustifiably given our infrastructure money to directors and shareholders.

Won’t someone think of the shareholders and the poor management bonuses.
Poor things, they must be down to their last few millions by now.

However, Chris Weston, its chief executive, told MPs that the company needed an exemption from the £1.4 billion in fines he expects the regulators, Ofwat and the Environment Agency, to impose for future breaches of environmental and performance rules.
Won’t somebody think of the poor company facing the consequences of its own actions.

It’s mad isn’t it, what use is it fining them anyway, they will just make the customers pay and still pay out their dividends and bonuses.
Should just be nationalising no questions asked no compensation given.
Naich@lemmings.world 10 months ago
All that money for bonuses has to come from somewhere.

The threat he is trying to make is around the government being on the hook for the loans and urgent improvement works at a time the government is trying to cut costs.
Should we nationalise it? Yes but it needs to be in such a way that we write off the costs of doing so as much as possible. I have no idea how we can protect ourselves in doing that without causing at least some problems downstream.
