STOP. CENSORING. EVERY. FUCKING. SWEAR!!!
Ridiculous that we can have people pushing challenges that cause harm, telling you the earth is flat, that trump is god emperor, or that autism is easy to cure. Those garbage posts go crazy. But if you swear some algorithms lower your visibility and certain words get your posts hidden or banned.
That’s fucked up.
It’s an easy way to test your censorship algorithms. People swear all the time. It’s also a message to “think what you’re saying before posting” which is great because the best censorship is self censorship. By “great” I mean it’s essential for fascism. Control how people speak, it makes you control how they think, then you control how they act.
That’s why we should not crosspost from other filthy, corrupted, centralised, properitary and corporate controlled platforms. I wish cross-platform posts were banned in this comm. Or an alternative existed. But Alas…

most fascists don’t call themselves fascists. so censoring the word “fascist” tends to muzzle people calling out fascists, not the fascists themselves. it vexes me.

lemmy.ml (used to?) automatically replace “bitch” with *removed*. I’d see people call themselves a “basic removed” or say “removed please” and it was very confusing. it applied to every message.
“cunt” wasn’t censored, though? or maybe they removed the filter at some point.
I’m not a tankie so I left and never looked back.
Unfortunately, if you want censoring to stop, we have to stop letting our lives be ruled by algorithms.
Is there any way to subscribe to posts upvoted by specific Lemmy users?
Lemmy uses an open one though and isnt it just based on upvotes and time?
I meant more of a societal “our”, more-so than Lemmy users specifically. We’re certainly a bit ahead of the curve, but most of our content that lands here comes from other social media sites first.

Lot of people been asking me why my voice beeps all the fking time. The Torgue shareholders wired my voicebox with a digital censor, so I can’t say stuff like St ck py or fkin-dkballs. That’s like half my vocabulary, it’s goddamn bulls*t!!
Stop telling people how to write if I want to add an * to a word I fucking will do. Sometimes I find it adds something to the word like highlights this is a strong word. Y’all are some basic b*tches complaining about dumb stuff all the fucking time.

Yea, I can’t really explain it but I saw a post the other day here somewhere and basically I agreed. They were saying that curse words have become so prevalent that they’ve lost some of the power, if every other word is fuck then it loses it potency, writing f*ck kind of adds that emphasis.
Honestly though I’m just sick of all these people on here complaining about it to be honest, it’s the most minute of issue that they latch on too. Free expression means I can write what I want and if some people don’t like that that’s their problem.
I guess also I’m just in a better place in my life and the constant negativity on here is just not something I’m prepared to keep consuming.

This place has literally become the Donald for us on the left and it’s a massive circlejerk of all us fellating each other for being so moral when in reality we ain’t changing shit and we have made our own little echo chamber.
I’ve gone from 4 hours a day on here to less than 5 mins on average and I’m happier for it.
But that might scare away advertisers…
