Let me give you one, kids try to explore topics out of curiosity. They are probably not going to look up someone torturing animals, because they don’t want to see that. Kids usually look up and explore things they are ready for. Also “kids” is a pretty diverse group, a 5 year old and a 15 year old kid are very different.
For real young kids parents should monitor online behavior anyway. For teens, how is life this different than looking at a playboy or a porn tape. Teens have been doing that forever, the people creating these laws probably did that when they where kids.
It’s probably a lot better to let kids (teens) explore nudity and sex in a safe environment, instead of letting them go unsupervised in places that ignore the law.
It’s basically the same argument with drugs, offering legal options vs. going to a dealer and possibly getting much more dangerous drugs mixed in.

So they have more time to watch people shooting each other.

Mentally healthy? Since we have 2 kids I rarely sleep 8 hours, 6 is the new norm, and it’s definitely not helping mentally. I still try to get 8K steps daily, doing 500 or less would make me even more miserable.

When Trump got elected I sold some of my stocks. My investments are also my retirement funds, so I don’t need them for a while. I’m waiting until the next crash starts, or something else that’s pretty bad (war, rogue AI, whatever). If the market crashes I can immediately step in.
- Comment on MIT report: 95% of generative AI pilots at companies are failing 1 week ago:
I once had stocks in Shell, mainly because it’s a Dutch company (I’m Dutch) and its a pretty stable investment. But it felt very wrong to invest in oil. So after a few months I sold them (thankfully with a little profit).
Personally I just don’t want to invest in anything I think fucks up the world. It’s also why I don’t want to invest in meta and some other tech companies.

It is also the equivalent of letting a LED light bulb run for an entire day (depending on bright it is, some LED bulbs use under 2 watts of power).

My kid is almost 6 so he doesn’t really know modern games. For now he is totally into lemmings and the incredible machine 2. It’s fun because I played those games a lot and can easily help him when he is stuck.

No, no, no, this is all wrong. When we discuss immigration and the current situation in the US all Americans are European immigrants.
When we talk about the genocide of the natives Americans, it was done by Americans, Europeans had nothing to do with it.

That a porn ban does not work and people will find a way around it.
When I was a kid there weren’t all this free porn sites and most of them were paid.
So you would go to some shady site where people shared passwords. This might make a comeback

It is assistive technology, but that is not how tesla has been marketing it. They even sell a product called full self driving, while it’s not that at all.

Or just get a steam deck, or another device you can install your own software on. This for me is a reason I never would get an iPhone. Although I don’t have a ton of apps from outside the playstore I do want the option. Maybe my next phone will just be a Linux phone.

I once ate shrooms and went to a club (late 90s in the Netherlands, psytrance). The party experience was complete gone for me, it was just like watching a nature show, where I heard a David Attenborough narator talk about how the female of the species was using various color pigments on her face to attract the male. While the males where using dance moves to show strength and virility.

Exactly if we need to blame anyone, its fucking Wall Street and investment firms. Those are the people jacking up prices and reducing quality, they are also responsible for the entire outsourcing to China etc.
- Comment on Grandma is on her own 1 month ago:
Yeah let’s blame grondma it’s absolutely her fault we had inflation and rising house prices in the last 50 years. She did it all by herself!

While this is true, I don’t eat fish in general (don’t like the taste), so it’s more a sport than for food.
- Comment on Breaking the generational barriers 1 month ago:
Honestly, as a kid I loved fishing, I recently started again, but I actually felt kind of bad for the fish. Maybe if this trend continues I’ll be a vegan in the next 20 years.
- Comment on Breaking the generational barriers 1 month ago:
If possible I save the grease. My house is next to a river, so I made it a habbit to not just throw away food but feed it to the fish. Sometimes we have leftovers and it’s been a little too long to eat, so I throw it in the river.
- Comment on Uber Eats or something idk 1 month ago:
What does that mean? Where I live you borrow a certain amount of money and you pay it back plus interest (in my case 3.5%), and that percentage is fixed for 20 years. In 20 years I expect to have paid most of that entire amount back and my house should be mortgage free
- Comment on Uber Eats or something idk 1 month ago:
I mean it more like if you would have borred 100K for a house in the 70s that was a lot of money, if you still live in that house you probably paid it back, but even if you didn’t 100K today isn’t that much money anymore
- Comment on Uber Eats or something idk 1 month ago:
What do you mean with “inflation was added to your mortgage rate”? The prices of houses do go up but this is mostly a problem for first time buyers, after that your current house has gone up in price too, so that helps with the next house. But if you buy a house and don’t move your mortgage is fixed for 20 or 30 years (unless you go without a fixed rate). So your monthly payment will stay the same, while hopefully your salary goes up.
- Comment on Uber Eats or something idk 1 month ago:
Not necessarily, if you own a home AND your pay slowly goes up to compensate (both of these unfortunately aren’t happening for a lot of people), relative to your income your mortgage goes down.
Or in more generic terms, inflation is good if you borrow money.

You can buy bags with fake mold, but people will probably see it and throw your food in the trash, so I don’t think it really helps.
