I got my husband to migrate to Signal with me, but the only alternative to talking to my parents on Whatsapp is using some russian government-owned chat platform that they recently installed to talk to my grandparents (apparently Whatsapp no longer works in Russia). With those two options, I’m sticking to Whatsapp for now (on GrapheneOS, in a separate isolated profile that is completely off while I’m not using it and has no permission to do anything on my phone)

Read up on your passenger rights! With more than 20mins (projected) delay, your “Zugbindung” ends and you can take any other ICE to your destination. If your delay is more than an hour, you get a 25% refund, if it’s over 2 hours the refund is 50%. If you miss any following trains, need to take a taxi or need to stay in a hotel because of the delay, DB will refund you the cost of that as well. You’re also entitled to a free drink in the train at some point, I don’t know the specifics of that off the top of my head though

Average walking speed is 4km/h. So in four hours, you’d go 16km. If it takes you an hour to go 16km by car, then you’d literally be faster on a bike, because you can go past traffic without stopping
