Why??

Social media and news is overwhelmingly controlled or otherwise influenced/flooded by the right or those acting on their behalf.
peregrin5@lemm.ee 4 days ago
It’s pretty easy to explain too. Social media and traditional media are all owned by billionaires and they want to push a rightwing agenda because that means less taxes for them and fuck everyone else.
takeda@lemm.ee 4 days ago
They are also pushing the identity politics, so we are distracted fighting among ourselves instead of uniting against them
drmoose@lemmy.world 3 days ago
Its not even about taxes but straight up class warfare. Lately billionaires noticed that they are not as untouchable as they thought they were and now they’re aligned to fix this.

I keep one emergency leave day aside so I can celebrate when Rupert Murdoch finally fucking croaks
Yeah his kids are probably no better, perhaps even worse, but god damn I fucking hate that piece of shit
Melvin_Ferd@lemmy.world 4 days ago
No, it’s not that it’s controlled. It’s that none of you participate or share this stuff. “They’re owned by X” argument is just an excuse.
db2@lemmy.world 4 days ago
You’re reading about it from someone who shared it right now. Derp.

I’ll give you a hint: billionaires don’t buy newspapers, social media and TV channels with shitty-shit Returns On Investment (if at all profitable) to make money from them - what they’re really buying isn’t the business, it’s an audience for “opinion making”.

Oh come on. You know.
