Because outlets like The Washington Times are on this list. This is going to be a PR nightmare for them.
Comment on Far-right websites got hacked and defaced; 6.5 terabytes of data got leaked.

I really don’t know why this did not get any coverage in the media.

idk if cult owned far right rag has that much pull (it’s not washington post, owned by bezos)
tonytins@pawb.social 4 days ago
Fair enough. Similarly outlets can get confusing.

Pretty confident that’s the intention of that name
can@sh.itjust.works 4 days ago
I bet there’s some left leaning publications that would appreciate the tip?
otp@sh.itjust.works 4 days ago
In North America, most major mainstream news companies are owned by right-wing or right-leaning corporations. In Canada, I think it’s literally all of them.

I’m aware. But others do still exist and may be looking for a story.

Because they’re shitty little sites no one has ever heard of?
clients have included
Whoop dee do. Yes, I’m sure the scum that were name dropped threw a couple of shillings in the pile.

Because they have to see if they are in it yet

Why??
TheFeatureCreature@lemmy.ca 4 days ago
Social media and news is overwhelmingly controlled or otherwise influenced/flooded by the right or those acting on their behalf.
peregrin5@lemm.ee 4 days ago
It’s pretty easy to explain too. Social media and traditional media are all owned by billionaires and they want to push a rightwing agenda because that means less taxes for them and fuck everyone else.

I keep one emergency leave day aside so I can celebrate when Rupert Murdoch finally fucking croaks
Yeah his kids are probably no better, perhaps even worse, but god damn I fucking hate that piece of shit
Melvin_Ferd@lemmy.world 4 days ago
No, it’s not that it’s controlled. It’s that none of you participate or share this stuff. “They’re owned by X” argument is just an excuse.

Where is this from?
Aceticon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 days ago
I’ll give you a hint: billionaires don’t buy newspapers, social media and TV channels with shitty-shit Returns On Investment (if at all profitable) to make money from them - what they’re really buying isn’t the business, it’s an audience for “opinion making”.

Oh come on. You know.
