Thank you! Honestly I thought Java was one of the easiest as people said that it was… I don’t really have a frame of reference honestly.

Thanks for your response!
Unfortunately for him, I am starting to get annoyed at being followed around. I am an introvert and I get easily irritated about certain stimuli, and another thing I dislike is people thinking of me in relation to someone and not as a person of my own, among other things. Recently someone asked me if I was his gf (as he was following me around) and that internally made me feel the bitterest or sourest of emotions. I also don’t like the idea of playing an idealised role in someone’s own self-narrative. For the sake of our friendship yes I probably should have to enforce distance. Instead of being worn down I feel like a ticking time bomb. Also I kinda feel bad for his friends cuz he’s spending a lot of his time with me :(

Our current teacher is a bit more laid back and we didn’t get any major projects. The thing is, is that she doesn’t really give lectures during our time and instead tells us to watch her lecture videos. Our credit hours for this subject is all Lab and no Lecture so I can sort of understand. Not all of my classmates have computers of their own so I guess another reason is to let the students develop their skills independently, and to pass their assignments using the computers. But yes, I also hate the way programming is taught. I personally would prefer an incremental approach at the beginning like short workbook style exercises. Isolating concepts and progressing into more complex implementations. As it stands programming classes start with our teachers making us stare at a huge program and expecting us to learn everything in bulk by analysing it.
Also… I remember watching a Developer roadmap video and at the bottom of the iceberg Philosophy and Math were mentioned :sob: I also do wish we had a class that outlines what programming is all about. Like what we should expect and its general philosophy. I did read that developers spend most of their time trying to think how to solve a problem than just typing code. I also noticed that some people lose self-esteem because of AI, because we as a society are so focused in the output rather than the internal process. We think that what a programmer is all about is producing code and not being a problem solver.

Tbh I feel like there’s a difference between gaming and short form content. When you’re a dedicated gamer you at some point would at least use your brain to solve problems. I mean, hopefully anyway. Some games that focus on grinding and idling are pretty low on the mental effort scale, but passively consuming content is literally on the bottom tier, even worse than watching television, to the point that I’ve been catching news of television trying to get into short form movies where the episodes are like super short.

I have ADHD and on the surface it looks like that, but I have something akin to auditory processing disorder, in two ways. Like sometimes I just can’t comprehend what has been said even though I can hear it. Also if I don’t bring my full attention to something I would think that I got the entire verbal command but actually end up not getting parts of it. To the point I ask my teachers to write on the board instead of dictating instructions.

(n.) Supposed deterioration of a person’s mental or intellectual state, especially viewed as a result of overconsumption of material (now particularly online content) considered to be trivial or unchallenging. Also: something characterized as likely to lead to such deterioration.
“The devil take Don Quixote of La Mancha! How did you get this far without dying from all the beatings you’ve received? You’re a madman, and if you were a madman in private, behind the doors of your madness, it wouldn’t be so bad, but you have the attribute of turning everyone who deals with you or talks to you into madmen and fools, too; if you don’t believe me, just look at these gentlemen who are accompanying you. Return, fool, to your house, and look after your estate, your wife, and your children, and stop this nonsense that is rotting your brain and ruining your mind.”

Well I think I just realised why they do it. There’s this longstanding conspiracy theory that whenever a politician does a fuckup they conveniently say keywords associated with the fuckup but put it in a different context (like say, scandal related to trains, so they get into a model train hobby), so if people search up their name plus trains what shows up are articles talking about their new hobby.
Just thought of this because I was searching up “Banana Republic” in the context of neocolonialism (while reading my country’s history) and besides the Wikipedia page being the first result, the next results were that store. And I remembered this reply.

We wont have bananas that taste any good.
Cavendish bananas aren’t the only varieties of bananas that taste good. For example Lakatan and Latundan taste good raw. It’s just they aren’t hardy enough for long-term storage and export. - Comment on Banana 3 months ago:
One epidemic and we won’t have bananas anymore.
Only for a few countries ;)
There’s still a lot of banana varieties eaten around the world. - Comment on Banana 3 months ago:
Idk about Brazil but there’s a lot of banana varieties that are regularly consumed around the world. There’s Lakatan, Saba and Latundan in the Philippines for example, the Saba banana being really popular as a fried snack on a stick.

Students, especially in the Philippines and some 3rd world countries. You can basically use Messenger and Facebook without data, just without images or video. For the sake of accessibility schools tend to use these services.

I’m sorry for blowing up on you. It’s just that I feel powerless and I feel like it’s hard to take direct action. I’ve been trying to get people involved but it’s so hard to get the momentum going that it tends to fizzle out (kinda like c/Philippines). I really wanted free internet to be a thing here in my country (not only that, we pay more for lower quality internet cmp to other countries due to underdeveloped infrastructure) so that it would break the monopoly of facebook but I’m not sure if they’re doing their promise. I’m just used to my actions not having an impact unless it was supported by some external circumstance. Like how Lemmy became popular because of an external event.

Apathetic attitude? Not everyone has the privilege of having ever been under an authority figure who actually cares about their job. My school can’t even bother to fix their drainage system, my city has had its reputation dragged in the mud on national TV for its shitty (literally) garbage collection system, even though people have been complaining about these for months. Do you seriously think they’ll take my opinion seriously? If I try to rally people to my cause, which would most likely be on Facebook, people would just snarkily say I’m overreacting and that I’m a hypocrite for using Facebook (which is the only thing I have). Even when I complained about the drainage system I was being name-called and insulted by someone who thought that making any demands to a school as a student was being entitled and what did I get out of it? Nothing! Do you think the geriatrics at the upper level even care about privacy or information? They still admire Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg goddammit! Have you ever had to really fight for a cause? Because you are painting an unrealistic landscape that I’ve never been able to see my entire life.
