Good call. According to wiki, the French escala is descended from the Latin scala (ladder)
- Comment on How do you manage your home server configuration? 1 week ago:
I used to have a fille with every cli command and notes on how each thing was set up. When I had to reinstall it from scratch it took all day going through lots of manual steps and remembering how it should all go.
Recently I converted the whole thing to Ansible. Now I could rebuild my entire system from a fresh install with one command that completes in minutes. If I ever break anything, it will reset everything to its intended state and leave it alone otherwise. And it’s pretty easy to learn and start using.

I bet this is true but also that a lot of the “human” sources they reviewed were actually written by LLMs anyway, not humans. This is reddit we’re taking about.

I try to shop more local small shops these days. But youre right, Amazon has killed off most of them.
- Comment on Bread mold 3 weeks ago:
Let me put it this way: when I get american cheese at my local deli (I like the white) it is delicious and much like eating any other deli cheese. When I get Kraft slices, they are like eating solidified vegetable oil, with weird bubbles texture, individually wrapped in plastic. Theres a difference.
- Comment on Bread mold 3 weeks ago:
American Cheese is a processed mix of cheeses like Colby and Cheddar, and is great.
Kraft American “Cheese Product” is the square sliced “plastic” one people think of.
- Comment on Do people know what the Streisand effect was about? 3 weeks ago:
I have a pretty bad memory and I still knew what caused the name. But I was aware of it when it happened, not learning about it much later. That probably helps.

I read that it’s due to model collapse - the AIs are now trained on their own AI-generated content, like all the auto generated ghibli-style images.

I guess, but Windows already ships with more rich-text editors like Wordpad. When I’m using notepad it’s because I want to see the pure raw unformatted text.

- Comment on When we eat the billionaires, we should spare Gabe Newell? No? 1 month ago:
I believe a moral person would not horde such obscene wealth while people are struggling and starving unnecessarily. Were not talking about just being “well off” - It’s more money than a person could need in countless lifetimes. So yes, I think she should give it away.

Being a billionaire is immoral in all cases

Since a lot of comments are arguing your point OP I just want to comment that I agree. Theres no reason to force email registration for self hosted services, it’s very annoying.
