Use whatever you like, but don’t pretend Apple is a better company than Google.

Besides, Cook also threw money at Trump.

My first Atari was a 1040ST. Amazing machine, spent a gazillion of hours on it gaming and programming in GFA Basic.
- Comment on Pixelfed Uptick in Monthly Active Users 1 week ago:
Maybe because Meta is going to use your photos and all the other shit you post to train their AI models.
I think they started doing this 2 days ago, it was in the news, here in Europe at least.

Me too. Switched to pushover. Arrrrrr apps support it just fine. And it’s free.
- Comment on Star Citizen’s new cash shop offerings provoked fresh pay-to-win and predatory monetization accusations | Massively Overpowered 4 weeks ago:
I played this game and threw some money at it. I wanted it to succeed. Recently there have been plenty of developments that convinced me to quit this game completely. This one just gives me more confirmation I did the right thing.
I think CIG is at its tipping point now and it will be game over for Star Citizen in a few years.
Class action suit anyone?
- Comment on YouTube's new ad strategy is bound to upset users: YouTube Peak Points utilise Gemini to identify moments where users will be most engaged, so advertisers can place ads at the point. 4 weeks ago:
Gemini also being forced on me more and more in Android. Seriously considering a linux phone next.
- Comment on Netflix will show generative AI ads midway through streams in 2026 4 weeks ago:
Nobody read the article.

- Comment on Microsoft CEO says up to 30% of the company's code was written by AI | TechCrunch 1 month ago:
Horseshit.
The current state of code generated by AI is sketchy at best. I often get plain wrong answers because the model tries to derive. It comes up with calls to functions and properties that just do not exist.
“You are right, I made a mistake. Here is a better answer.” Continues to give wrong answers.
Apart from that, apps that are glued together from AI generated code are not maintainable at all. What if there is a bug somewhere and you so not comprehend what is actually happening? Ask AI to fix it? Yeah good luck with that.
I do use AI for simple questions, and it works fairly well for that, but this claim by MS is just marketing bullshit.

Gitlab was created by a ukranian and dutch developer originally but today Gitlab stock is traded on Nasdaq and its HQ is listed as San Francisco (wikipedia). I use it selfhosted but I don’t think gitlab.com can be seen as European anymore.
Correct me if I’m wrong.
- Comment on Google Chrome disables uBlock Origin for some in Manifest v3 rollout 3 months ago:
I have no idea either. Sure, chrome is a little faster but its a minor difference in my opinion. Been using it for a long time and have no idea why it’s so unpopular.

- Comment on Star Citizen Expose Paints a Fairly Bleak Picture: 'There's No Actual Focus on Getting the Game Done' 7 months ago:
Instead of focussing on getting the core of the game finished and THEN expanding it they do it the other way around.
For example the mining loop now is broken again, people bought mining ships and vehicles with $$ and they are completely unusable. Not to mention all the bugs and instability. I hope they succeed but right now things are not pointing to something enjoyable within the foreseeable future at all.

I lost interest in this game. Will check it out again if they come with a beta before I retire.
