I had pretty much the same experience as that user and it’s why I left lemm.ee when they decided not to defederate with some of the worst instances. Was about to go back to the search if lemmy.world wasn’t any better. Tankies are why I don’t recommend Lemmy to my friends anymore. They are the fediverse’s biggest problem

I came to Lemmy (lemm.ee originally) with this attitude. Tankies really made me regret trying to be sympathetic too them. It was the most vile interaction I’ve had on the Internet maybe? You shouldn’t call people tankies if they’re not but real tankies are by far the biggest problem with the fediverse and it’s growth

An article claiming Musk is failing to manipulate his own project is hilarious regardless. I think you misunderstood why this appeals to some people

That’s just a list of conventions? I could have looked that up. You’re talking about a specific one right?

Can you site something for what you’re talking about?

Because it’s relevant to the region you’re looking at and I’m pretty sure the UK hasn’t taken a firm/legal stance either way. Also not sure how your comment is supposed to relate to my point? Mexico doesn’t have any more right to tell other countries what to call the Gulf than the US or any other country that’s totally outside of any sane jurisdiction

You’re probably connected to a US access point or have cached map data.
- Comment on Mexican President Threatens to Sue Google Over 'Gulf of America' Label on Maps. 1 month ago:
It is labeled Gulf of Mexico in Mexico and the name doesn’t mean they own it. This is almost as ridiculous as calling it Gulf of America in the first place

It already does

US policy doesn’t get to dictate how websites operate in non US jurisdiction
It shows gulf of Mexico outside of the US

- Comment on Can I lose a beer belly working out one day a week? 1 month ago:
Going from doing nothing to something one day a week will have dramatic effects. But didn’t expect it to happen overnight or to have the same effect as going 3 or 4 times a week. Even just doing however many pushups you can once per day is a very good way to start condition yourself so you can handle and enjoy getting into a gym eventually. Sit ups are pretty trash. Six packs are made in the kitchen is a common adage for a reason. If you can’t work your core any other way I’d suggest planks over sit ups though. If you can, get a pull-up bar and power blocks. I would strongly recommend intending to get to a gym eventually though. From personal experience having a home gym was a bit of self sabotage
Cook, shower and then I’m exhausted AF.
This probably because you don’t exercise. Exercise gives you energy and is an excellent anti depressant. Starting is always the hardest part but you’ll have more energy the rest of the day.
And more than anything, or even what you’re doing stick with it. Results take time. You’ll have days you think it’s doing nothing, you’ll miss days and think what’s the point of starting again, you’ll be disappointed with rate of progression and that’s always the biggest test.

- Comment on Has the USA turned into an oligarchy? 2 months ago:
The Bush family, the Clinton family, they wanted Michelle Obama
That’s how an oligarchy works though. A few powerful people, usually dynastic families, decide how the country should be run. You’re giving an example of oligarchs picking an oligarch. How is that evidence of monarchy rather than oligarchy?
