They could build them so that they stay in perpetual dawn or dusk. One edge with the solar panels in the su, the other edge with the cooling fins in the night’s cool breeze.

Everyone was taught the tides look like two giant water bulges going around the earth in line with the moon.
That representation is oversimplified and false.
This is how the tides look like at a global level. It’s messed up.

So I went back to the blog post. They are shipping the Framework 13" webcam in this updated 16" version. The part was already available for me to upgrade!
We’re now using the 2nd Gen Webcam that we first introduced last year on Framework Laptop 13.
frame.work/…/introducing-the-new-framework-laptop…
The module comes pre-installed on Framework Laptop 13 (Intel Core Ultra Series 1) and the new Ryzen 7040 Series configurations with the 2.8k display. It’s also compatible with all of our existing Framework Laptop 13 and Framework Laptop 16 models […]

I’ll start: Tidal, SoundCloud, Deezer (has ties to Russian oligarchs so gotta be careful)

OK I’m a bit confused. I have a Framework 16” that I bought earlier this year, without the GPU extension bay. I don’t care that much about the expansion bay as without it, the laptop is already huge. I have an eGPU to play on when I need it.
What upgrade options does this announcement offer to me?
I’m dissatisfied with:
- the webcam
- screen colors / brightness
- key stability on the keyboard (the keys are a bit wobbly)
- speaker sound quality (I’m not expecting the best, but something better than what it shipped with)
They are announcing a new webcam, will it be backwards compatible ?
Otherwise I’m really happy with it, I absolutely love the modular I/O, being able to swap which side the audio jack is is amazing. happy to support this endeavor of repairability

It’s intersectional: the wealthy early birds. They would make the decision while us night owls sleep
- Comment on If everyone spontaneously became the same race the world would realize that the rich are the real problem 3 months ago:
Exactly. This is why people say race is a construct.
If we all became the same race then some self labeled ingroup would construct (i.e. create) new criteria to label others as an outgroup eventually creating new races.

I literally switched from Spotify yesterday…
Everyone says bandcamp is a good alternative but the main added value from streaming services, for me, is discovery. I don’t think I can afford the time to go on bandcamp and download every song I like one by one. I would also be lost when in need to discover new music.

Yeah but all of that can be abstracted. Instead of simulating down to the atom, if e.g. a plant is out of FOV, you can just run a probability table for its properties and functions. Things like alive or dead, quantity of co2 and water consumed, o2 produced etc.

War 8 with a large regional sub-conflict called War 8+ War X (pronounced ten) which revolutionizes warfare. You’re gonna love it. Gets renamed into War Xs but nothing much is new. Kicks back into War 11 and local conflict War 11 Pro which is smaller than the regional War 11 Pro Max though honestly, they’re all the same.
Eventually gets rebranded as War 2026 even though conflict is taking place in 2025.

- Comment on why do some people put a space before a question mark or exclamation point? 5 months ago:
It is the orthographic norm for some languages, i.e. the only correct way to spell.
French is like that. Any double punctuation symbol gets a space beforehand.
Ah bon ? Mais il faut pourtant beau aujourd’hui !
