It’s to give your heart a reason to have a heart attack.
If you can’t get any better, the only way to go up the leaderboard is to incapacitate your opponents.

It’s intersectional: the wealthy early birds. They would make the decision while us night owls sleep
- Comment on If everyone spontaneously became the same race the world would realize that the rich are the real problem 3 weeks ago:
Exactly. This is why people say race is a construct.
If we all became the same race then some self labeled ingroup would construct (i.e. create) new criteria to label others as an outgroup eventually creating new races.

- Comment on YSK: Deezer, the music streaming service, is owned by a company whose Founder and CEO is a Russian Oligarch with connections to the Kremlin and donates to the American Republican party. 3 weeks ago:
I literally switched from Spotify yesterday…
Everyone says bandcamp is a good alternative but the main added value from streaming services, for me, is discovery. I don’t think I can afford the time to go on bandcamp and download every song I like one by one. I would also be lost when in need to discover new music.

Yeah but all of that can be abstracted. Instead of simulating down to the atom, if e.g. a plant is out of FOV, you can just run a probability table for its properties and functions. Things like alive or dead, quantity of co2 and water consumed, o2 produced etc.

War 8 with a large regional sub-conflict called War 8+ War X (pronounced ten) which revolutionizes warfare. You’re gonna love it. Gets renamed into War Xs but nothing much is new. Kicks back into War 11 and local conflict War 11 Pro which is smaller than the regional War 11 Pro Max though honestly, they’re all the same.
Eventually gets rebranded as War 2026 even though conflict is taking place in 2025.

I’m happy I am finding some people on Nebula but being a payed service, it’s doomed to eventually show ads.
I now watch Climate Town and City Nerds on Nebula. I wish Dr Becky would move. I love her videos.

- Comment on why do some people put a space before a question mark or exclamation point? 2 months ago:
It is the orthographic norm for some languages, i.e. the only correct way to spell.
French is like that. Any double punctuation symbol gets a space beforehand.
Ah bon ? Mais il faut pourtant beau aujourd’hui !

Playing Core Keeper with no wiki. Having a blast, didn’t realize how much content the game has now. I need to play without a wiki more often. Much more fun.

- Comment on Steamdeck or.... 2 months ago:
The deck is actually a little more expensive overall: You cannot detatch the controllers. Need to buy a 3rd party if you don’t want to always play handheld (most 3rd party will work though) Doesn’t come with a deck (any usb-c to HDMI dongle should work)
Besides that, if you have a big steam library already , it’s pretty amazing. Cities Skyline isn’t very steam deck friendly though.

Update: just made eggs sunny side up this way on my moderately unwell seasoned cast iron pan. Worked amazingly well. Who knew I was putting too much oil… I brought the temp down a little after cracking the eggs in.

It’s funny how it’s not even quantity over quality because those 5 to 8 ~$10 to $15 games will provide high quality gameplay and storytelling.

It’s ok to but indie games even if still a public beta, to support the devs. Had a great time with Factorio, Rimworld, Valheim before 1.0 release.

Technically, Caliphate. Califia was the queen of the made up kingdom of California in a 16th century novel.
The name of Calafia was likely formed from the Arabic word khalifa (religious state leader) that is known as caliph in English and califa in Spanish.
