Imagine you are doing a tarzan vine jump, and I cut your vine while you are jumping then say “See, you wouldn’t be able to do it without the vines!!!”. Yeah man, timing matters.
- Comment on Circumcision classed as possible child abuse in draft CPS document 6 days ago:
The topic is child (cannot consent, hell in some cases cannot talk yet because too young) circumcision, you are talking about puberty+(can semi-consent: can decide who to live with in family seperation for example) issues?
I agree about the black market but perfect is the enemy of good?
- Comment on China’s ‘artificial sun’ breaks nuclear fusion limit thought to be impossible 6 days ago:
My problem is that waste being unborn next generation’s problem. Who are we to demand them to keep guarding our shit? With fusion, the waste is the alive-generation’s problem.
- Comment on China’s ‘artificial sun’ breaks nuclear fusion limit thought to be impossible 6 days ago:
Fission has the “long (1+ centuries) term storage solution of the byproducts” problem (output is dirty and long lasting). Fusion has no such big problem (output is dirty and short lasting).
I like hyperboles so here: If everyone did fission in their backyard, we’d have a big and long lasting problem. If everyone did fusion in their backyard, we’d have a medium and short lasting problem.
- Comment on Self-hosting in 2025 isn't about privacy anymore - it's about building resistance infrastructure 1 week ago:
It is freeing really. I used to proof read my comments, then paste in google search to check for easy to catch typos. When AI arrived, I was even putting my text through them so they are more “common tongue” and not my personal shorthands.
Now I just post it.
- Comment on Sony AI patent will see PlayStation games play themselves when players are stuck 1 week ago:
The games we play are that easy though. Dark souls with eyes = hard, dark souls to an entity which has no eyes, but can read RAM states = easy.
Most singleplayer games (so the opponents are clockwork) are easy to enough to play with heuristics, why do we need a whole ass neural network?

(X is a verb or a brand name)
Professional (as in they earn money, not skill level) Xers fuck everything up.
My anecdotes: Youtube was good before professional youtubers became a thing (systemic problem, people are not the issue but the environment which breeds them), now it’s attention economy and or one topic discussed for 50 minutes (a video explaining the same topic with the same intensity from 10 years ago is 2 minutes long)
Gamers were problematic but harmless, professional gamers caused betting pandemic (sponsored content).
Streamers were funny, professional streamers are sexy/deadly-sells-to-children.
I liked it when people were sharing stuff online because they were bored, and not because they were hungry.

My point was pointing out your logical mistake. These two things are separate things which should be discussed separately. Just because they are grouped together in one piece of official document, doesn’t make it the UNIVERSAL truth.
or are you telling me the Braziling government doesn’t discriminate between gambling and porn in other settings?
(Also maybe I missed it: Where did I cast any judgement about it being accessible to children?)

Do you get aroused when you look at probability? Do you have sex with PDFs? Are histograms your jam?
If no, porn is not the same thing as gambling.

As long as they can reduce the adblock usage, it is a win for them. 100% success is not the goal.
- Comment on If there's a sort of "apocalyptic" event but there are still surviving communities, will people be able to make eyeglasses again, or are people with vision issues gonna be fucked? 4 months ago:
Do we have surviving scientists and engineers? Then everything is easy-ish: Progress took time because we didn’t know anything, everything was trial and error. Now we know the correct forms of physical laws or their usable approximations so rebuilding is just a matter of time (generations maybe).
If somehow the collective wisdom is lost, back to the stone ages with you.
- Comment on Anyone else from Europe feels the same while browsing the "All" feed? 5 months ago:
It’s a weird ass language. When you start, it feels easy because rules are rigid. Then you try to build longer sentences PROPERLY and you feel that it is cumbersome. Finally you try to talk to native speakers, and you see that native speakers also think it is cumbersome and they omit 50% of rules in dailyspeak. Then, your brain turns into a mush which cannot decide if past is ok here or do I do perfekt to not look like a posh journalist. Do I use genitive like a properboi or dativ like a correct streetboi? Oh wait, they call it Cola (female) in Germany but Cola (male) in Austria? Wait what? it’s not country specific but much more local than that and you can be wrong while in a car?
It’s a mess.
- Comment on Gen Z Is Cutting Back On Video Game Purchases 5 months ago:
Back then we had 10x games coming out, 1x games were good. Now we have 10000x games coming out but still 1x of the games are good. (Absolutately more good games, relatively almost nothing)
Numbers are generated assisted-out of my ass. (Think fermi approximation.)
- Comment on Gen Z Is Cutting Back On Video Game Purchases 5 months ago:
As a person who doesn’t care about graphics: New games are mostly shit. I’m allowed to do less (need animation for each action you know?), I’m allowed to have fewer monsters on the screen (polygon count you know?) takes 35+ GB and it makes my laptop fans go wrooom?

How can you know a game is LGBTQ+ if they don’t talk about sex/gender? They look like normal humans to me, which differ in sexual preferences only? Example: How can you say this guy is gay without knowing his sexual preferences?

We gave up “all-flat-terrain”, carbon neutral, semi-self driving things and got “this road is not paved so I’ll shake you so much that your baby will die”, “created new jobs: climate disaster control”, “just currently getting some self-driving capabilities”.
I’m half-joking of course, cars are great for long distance travel but you could argue humanity would be far better (apart from GDP) if we have no roads in the cities.
- Comment on Something is wrong.. 5 months ago:
Maybe being sentient is about saying no all the time: You are a sack of water made out of carbon and it always wants to simply fall but you have keep saying “no, we stand”, “no, we tilt slightly forward” (walk) etc.
At night, when there’s nothing to do and you’ve already lost your battle against gravity (a comfy bed), maybe the helpful naysayer starts generating bullshit?
- Comment on Stardew Valley dethrones Valve classic as Steam’s top-rated game 6 months ago:
Are you into dramatic NPCs? If no, you have to play it multiplayer with someone who gives a crap about pixel people.
I tried playing it alone but every system in the game is puddle deep so I was only able to play until winter by myself.
Then I played it with my girlfriend, and I spent 100 fondly remembered hours.
