- Comment on EU disease agency considers quitting Elon Musk’s X over disinfo 1 week ago:
They have a concept of quitting.
- Comment on Who was our worst Prime Minister and why? Any notable state leaders we need to add? 3 weeks ago:
Even better, the state government STILL subsidies these private companies that now own once-public property. I am so fucking sick of every bill I get being about $200 before counting any usage I may have had. This is simply not sustainable, and would be easily fixable if all utilities were state-owned.
- Comment on Aurora forecast in the southern parts of Australia for the next three nights 1 month ago:
In this part of the country?
- Comment on What has he done to deserve this? 3 months ago:
At least be consistent with it too! I don’t know what it’s like in the States but internationally we don’t get 7/16" bolts or whatever, we get 10-gauge or 8-gauge etc. What the fuck does that mean?? And wiring too: no 8mm wire, no no let’s have 6AWG. Jesus christ it’s like they enjoy making life difficult.
- Comment on What has he done to deserve this? 3 months ago:
True! We used to use pounds, shillings, pence as our currency and I’m very glad I never needed to deal with that shit.
- Comment on Over 100 staff at Just Cause developers Avalanche have unionised 7 months ago:
Cool, is there a chance they will make a good Just Cause game again then? I loved JC2 but was so severely disappointed with JC3 that I never played them again. Stupid loading times, a world that felt empty and constant popups telling me xXxBlazeIt420xXx had beaten my score at something I didn’t care about absolutely ruined it.
- Comment on Car-size asteroid discovered 2 days ago flies 30 times closer to Earth than the moon 7 months ago:
So… Asteroid that would have burned up in the atmosphere will miss us instead. I guess that’s good news?
- Comment on Mona: Court rules women’s-only exhibit must allow male visitors 7 months ago:
Perhaps women should take on The Melbourne Club next and see how quickly men change their mind on the subject?
I understand the guy’s argument in this case seems to be the fact he bought a ticket at the same price as a woman but was excluded from one of the exhibits, but the overarching point of sexual discrimination works both ways.
- Comment on I want to be among those who deeply thoroughly understands & can accurately predict the path of future eclipses because this is amazing. 7 months ago:
BTW the book was by Peter Duffett-Smith if that helps.
- Comment on I want to be among those who deeply thoroughly understands & can accurately predict the path of future eclipses because this is amazing. 7 months ago:
When I was a kid my parents bought me a book called “practical astronomy with your calculator” that went over all the workings and formulae for calculating eclipses, moon phases, locations of the planets and heaps more. If you want to get into it I highly recommend this book or something similar.

Or more noticably all the southern hemisphere penguins
- Comment on text don't call 9 months ago:
That’s not what they’re talking about. Some people/businesses have a “smart” caller ID so the business name shows up instead of their number, even if you’ve never heard of or been contacted by them before.
- Comment on While everyone is watching the world stage and some are predicting WWIII, isn't there a good chance that the USA is getting close to some kind of civil war? 11 months ago:
Is that the Behind The Bastards Robert Evans? Love his work.
- Comment on 1.1 History 11 months ago:
The moon is a decent fraction if the Earth’s mass. It has been a while since I calculated it but I recall the “shared gravitation centre” is actually outside the Earth.
- Comment on Elon Musk on X antisemitism controversy: “Don’t advertise. Go f*** yourself” 11 months ago:
No, no, no, it’s not Elon who’s out of touch. It’s the advertisers who are wrong! Just wait until all of Earth, apparently, hears of how these big mean advertisers killed the wondrous and righteous place named X. There will be outrage!.. so thinks Elon anyway. What a deluded moron.

- Comment on Microsoft's Bing search engine claims Australia doesn't exist 1 year ago:
Yep, in 1975. We’ve been a bit of a puppet ever since.
- Comment on Microsoft's Bing search engine claims Australia doesn't exist 1 year ago:
They’re well aware. Famous Australians like Russell Crowe and Phar Lap would back up this claim.
- Comment on Microsoft's Bing search engine claims Australia doesn't exist 1 year ago:
Australians wish! New Zealand tends to get things right.
- Comment on Tesla may have picked an unwinnable fight with Sweden’s powerful unions — The first ever strikes and a solidarity blockade against the US carmaker could force it to rethink its entire anti-union model 1 year ago:
That and what we generally think of as “Vikings” were actually Danes, which is an insult to Swedes.
