- Comment on People are playing fewer games and new releases are "struggling", say Ubisoft UK, warning of falling revenues 2 days ago:
I don’t have time playing games right now, let alone modern games which need few gigabytes of updates, load for a couple of minutes each time, and where I need to remember what I did last time.
- Comment on Me when Valve releases a phone 3 days ago:
If you have a phone running Android, it already runs Linux.
- Comment on YSK How to cook a perfect (hard) boiled egg 4 days ago:
Someone should make a book called “Life. Beginner’s guide” and put stuff like that there.
- Comment on The Future of Advertising Is AI Generated Ads That Are Directly Personalized to You 2 weeks ago:
I’d rather pay for shit and not have ads.
- Comment on If websites are slow for you, this is why, AWS is breaking everything 4 weeks ago:
I am grateful that my past me (from few months ago) decided to study Slavic philology, instead of getting stupid tech job. I hate modern tech, anything from big corporations.
I am also glad that I’ve switched to Linux (Debian ftw) to escape software enshittification.

Looks pretty interesting…
- Comment on Why can't we have a static vintage web? 1 month ago:
Haha, there are other language versions links at the bottom. I just started learning Czech at university, and I think I will send my group link some time, because it’s pretty funny.

The probability of that is…?
Mathematicians tell me, please, because my mind is breaking.

It’s only difficult to prove if you somehow aren’t able to observe objects in real world.
- Comment on Fear not, and enjoy this mere interlude to its fullest! 1 month ago:
But why call it void if there’s no void at all? Or nothingness. There’s only void and nothingness when universe ends (if that theory is true of course). People still think about it as a state of our consciousness, when there is no really any ‘state’ after we die. It’s like
NULLvsUNDEFINEDin programming, or at least I see this that way. - Comment on Fear not, and enjoy this mere interlude to its fullest! 1 month ago:
How exactly? I don’t see it.
- Comment on Fear not, and enjoy this mere interlude to its fullest! 1 month ago:
Nothingless void is as believable as afterlife. From scientific point of view neither make sense, it’s like we’re giving ourseleves some metaphysical distinctiveness from the rest of universe but are merely physical bodies according to our scientific knowledge. And according to that we precisely know what’s after death: we rot in grave, and that’s sit. But that answer is not satisfying for us, because of our consciousness.

Joking aside, while this is less functional than Android app, and looking… slightly outdated, it feels easier to use than the app, which is amusing.
- Comment on Lara Croft is a Sociopath 1 month ago:
That’s why I like Wolfenstein and Doom games. You only kill bad guys there, and it is expected that you should have no mercy for them.
- Comment on Can't argue that. 1 month ago:
I don’t really play competitive video games, because I have always seen them as waste of time, and I easily get angry, but recently I nearly did get all retroachievements for NES Terris, so I guess my reflexes are not horrible yet.

I am 29, and so far I didn’t really see any mental decline, sometimes even the reverse - I become better at learning certain stuff. Although I am also more aware that I will never be on the level some very talented people are, but it’s fine.

One time I was drunk enough that I’d do that if I saw a incoming tram.
That said, after many self harm actions, depressive thoughts and other stupid shit I’ve done while drunk, I decided to not drink more than 2 beer in a single day, lol.
- Comment on Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, a JRPG, just got released on Steam—and this is a big deal because this game is to PC what Final Fantasy VII was to PlayStation. 1 month ago:
Isn’t one of the more modern Dragon Quest games on PC as well? These series are top-notch and have nice graphics as well.
- Comment on Nintendo reportedly gets even more obnoxious about patent law by taking a 'mods aren't real games' stance against a Dark Souls 3 mod that could invalidate its Palworld lawsuit 1 month ago:
It depends how mod is made. If it depends on a base content of a game, it’s generally a mod for that game. That’s what Counter-Strike and DOTA for example was at first (they required Half-Life, and Warcraft 3 base files respectively).
If you make a game for a specific engine, it’s generally considered as a standalone game, not a mod. Also in olden days code for the engine and the game wasn’t separated so you couldn’t easily reuse the game engine. AFAIK Id Software was one of the first companies that made reusable game engines that were also licensed to other companies, and even made map editor available for free.
- Comment on Notepad gets AI features like Summarize, Write, and Rewrite, using local and cloud models. 1 month ago:
I am pretty sure you can just remove the Notepad app on Windows 11 (not sure about Windows 10 though), or at least that’s what I did on VM. It removes the context menu option for creating a new text file (using new Notepad), but it restores old notepad that you can run by just runnning
notepadin Run prompt (Win+R), or by making simple shortcut. - Comment on Notepad gets AI features like Summarize, Write, and Rewrite, using local and cloud models. 1 month ago:
Who cares? It does the same thing, maybe except not having different font support and printing.

Is Microsoft not aware what Notepad is actually used for?
- Comment on Microsoft announces it will automatically install the Copilot AI app alongside desktop versions of 365 products like Word, Excel and PowerPoint this October 1 month ago:
The best thing to do is to convert you closest family and friends. If you’re a “computer guy” the chances are you need to support their shitty computers anyway, so you might as well support an OS which is easier to maintain.

Jesus Fucking Christ. Why would anyone who wants to write a simple letter or some other basic stuff in Word (which is what most of home users do) want any of this crap?

- Comment on Campaigners urge EU to mandate 15 years of OS updates 1 month ago:
That is way more sensible, than the other way around.
- Comment on Campaigners urge EU to mandate 15 years of OS updates 1 month ago:
No, OS makers should just not make their OS bloated with useless shit, stealing your data and have arbitrary system requirements. I think 15 years of OS updates is excessive unless we’re talking about servers or very specific workflows. IMO 5-10 years is enough.

- Comment on Microsoft still can't convince folks to upgrade to Windows 11 2 months ago:
Jokin’ aside, I am thinking to upgrading to forky (14), if it gets newer Nvidia drivers, because of a single issue I have with Wayland on Plasma (that is X applications flickering like crazy).
