I’m indigenous in Canada and we pretty much grew up poor in my family. We had enough but we never had a lot to enjoy any luxuries.
One family in our town had a bit of wealth and they lived very comfortably, the girls looked good and the boys were good looking young guys. They were all older than me so we were in awe of them.
One of the boys although he was native had a very light complexion with curled hair. He often wore a sweater like that around town and he looked so completely out of place it was almost funny. Except he was popular, built, strong and well known by everyone. He could do whatever he wanted and there was nothing anyone could do about it.
And to top it all off … he was a dick … just like in the movies.
Lol

Ted C. McGinley, AKA the TV series grim reaper (if he shows up in a series it’s almost definitely getting cancelled).

Back when dinosaurs cost a dollar and 640K of RAM was more than enough for any purpose, people in my sphere would refer to this style of dressing as “Preppy” and it was a style largely relegated to wealthier people and people who wanted to appear to be wealthy. So, maybe there was a bit of an association with this appearance and “rich assholes” in general?

The same trope was used in bollywood during mid 90s to early 2000s but for showing how a ‘hero’ matures and stops being a dick to due something the girl in the movie does.

Look at that subtle off-white coloring. The tasteful thickness of it. Oh my God, it even has a watermark…

80s movies also taught me that sexual assault is kinda funny and a totally harmless prank.

Hey do you want to stalk a woman’s house, wait til shes out of her room, break in, and steal her underwear? It’ll be totally rad!

I had a movie idea a while back about a bunch of dudes in their 50s who decide to re-enact a bunch of their favorite movie scenes from old movies like that and realise half way through that what rhey are doing is actually a sex crime and then hilarity ensues as they try and get out of the situation without getting arrested.
