This story (Fox “news” link with article title “NJ theme park selling life-sized dinosaur models on Facebook Marketplace”) is dated 1 Oct 2025. This one (Fox again) from 12 Dec 2025 states that they’ve been sold but had some issues with cashing the buyer’s check so maybe they’ll go up for sale again.

Shoutout to the house in Hillsboro, CA off I-280 that actually did this. Neighbors lost the battle.

We had a Sinclair gas station at a nearby town that had one of their apatosaurii. The gas station changed hands a few times but they decided to leave the dino, probs because it was an ecological disaster idk gas stations are weird. After about 10 years a private party bought the dino statue and i’m sure it is on some billionaire’s lawn now.

Only after the billionaire had sex with it.
And then had it passed around among their associates.
Wait, how old are these dinosaurs?

Hey, I’m an HOA board member! Our budget is stretched thin with a giant roofing project looming large, but I wonder if the members would splurge for a really good reason.

i didn’t read any “no dinosaurs” rule
ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world 2 months ago
Mine has that rule but I assumed it applied to the HOA board.

My mom lives in a retirement community, being a dinosaur is mandatory.

Why is the stegosaurus nearly half the price of rhe triceratops? That’s triceratops supremacy!

I would never complain living next to such amazing art! In fact, knowing it hits the HOA, I’d commission my own!
Life finds a way and it is beautiful.

NIMBY intensifies

Install one with Jesus riding it and let them try to sue you.

I understand it limits me but I would never move into one.

It always amuses me that the US - the land of the free, the home of the brave - has a fair proportion of its people living in homes over which they have significantly less control than basically everyone else in the world has over theirs.
Magnum@infosec.pub 2 months ago
But to be fair, there is a portion of people that have more control, basically also about the houses of their neigbours.

A lot of towns and cities around the world have similar requirements and will start fining you if you let your property. And the majority of HOAs aren’t overbearing, just a way to share costs for common infrastructure and make sure houses aren’t just abandoned or allowed to fall apart by collecting fines.
But petty power attracts petty tyrants and it’s easier to make it onto an HOA board than a town council. So sometimes your worst neighbor has the ability to hand out fines and wields that power with spite and glee.
