when I was a akid, my uncle had an apple tree that gave small apples. They were edible and the size of maybe a big cherry. I ate tons of those whole. It was a fun treat.

Don’t actually eat the apple whole, that’s dangerous for the horse. The rescue I take my kid to a couple times a year always asks to step on the apple to break it up and make it less of a risk for the horse. Then you can let the horse eat the whole apple

If you eat an apple from the top down, you can eat the middle without much texture change. Apples don’t actually have a “core”, just seeds.
