In the post truth era, it’s a straight path for them.

Quick! Capitalism has failed again and there’s about be famine. Blame socialism which wasn’t even in power.
Great argument agianst army, healthcare, roads and bridges, electrification, police, firefighters…

By that logic we should ban umbrellas.
The danger of Socialism is that it enables governments to do the same as what Capitalism is doing.
These programs exist for a reason. Free market capitalism is what made them necessary in the first place.
Better to starve then, I guess?
The best example… A country that is neither socialist nor Communist?
That’s the worst example.

The cognitive dissonance to not realize the ones against socialism alone are the ones doing the starving.

While I am absolutely in favor of the government feeding everyone who needs food, including stuff like USAID for those abroad. I do also agree with the sentiment that to the extent possible we should enable people to do this themselves instead of being reliant on the government. Because history is full of examples of governments choosing to starve people for their own ends.

So you’re saying, there should be strong unions and the rich should be fairly taxed?

Youre right. We should demand Walmart pay its people a living wage.

Part of enabling people to live poverty and stop being reliant on the government is to provide the basic needs for the people that fall behind, so they can focus on improving their lives instead of doing everything to avoid tiny risk.
Anyway, a government can starve anybody at any time and don’t need any “previous dependency” as a excuse or mechanism.
