Dems need to do something for comedians to joke about. Colbert did tons of jokes about dems when Biden was in office

That would be the greatest day, when comedians mostly do jokes about dems. Imagine punch lines like “and the dem control all three branches”. Or we just love racist jokes, let’s do one about “the first dark skinned president since Obama, har har har”. And get a load of this one, it’s starts with appointing cabinet members for their expertise! What a maroon! And we’ll never get enough of “and then they passed universal healthcare and saved the environment”! LoL

Jesus said “feed the hungry” and AOC said NEXT.

Standard idiom of comedy, always punch up, never punch down.
In other words, always speak truth to power, never kick someone that’s down.

Oh they try. It just isn’t generally funny.
Here’s a glimpse into a time (the 90s) before it got so heinously bad that it could still kinda happen on TV. But, was still so embarrassingly bad that it was the death rattle of conservative comedy.
Greg Giraldo (RIP) was the 90s era Roast Master like Jeff Ross in the 00s and 10s. The guy conservative unfunny Tony Hinchcliffe wants to be so bad for the 20s but has instead visibly marred the comedy scene to the point of self-roast.
There was a show called Tough Crowd (with host, comedian Colin Quin), where comedians would discuss politics, face to face (God we need this to come back). Watching Giraldo sound off against the way more famous Dennis Leary is a masterclass in why conservative comedians still fail the scene today. Even with rogans billions invested in Austin.

I lived tough crowd. I have long felt I was the only person other than my wife that ever watched it though.

I figure it’s either because they don’t think joking about human rights is funny, and/or satire is a form of protest. Like there’s nothing funny about treating people as equals despite them being gay or having brown skin or calling their god something like Allah (Arabic for god), or that people should be able to eat.
I do think comedians have clowned on the Democrats for pushing Bernie out in favour of Hillary Clinton. There’s a funny joke about Hillary Clinton that goes something like, Bill and Hillary are traveling through Arkansas (where Bill is from and was governor) and after leaving a service station, Hillary confides in Bill that she used to sleep with the service station attendant. Bill says “yeah imagine where you’d be if you wound up with him,” to which she replies, “yeah he’d have been president,” implying that Hillary was the kingmaker and Bill’s charm alone wouldn’t have gotten him elected. So even the shitty way I told it, I think it’s pretty funny, but I’ve heard it told better. I’m just not a comedian.

Colbert said he STOPPED doing The Colbert Report because he’d say “The Republicans should (insert absurd thing that makes no sense)!”
And the next day, twitter was full of republicans not getting the joke, and NOW insisting they do the absurd thing. Thinking it was a good idea.
Colbert said he had to stop because he was just giving them ideas. Very stupid ideas that we’d all have to deal with.

How come comedians don’t do jokes about dems?
They will as soon as Trump stops providing good material.
Kolanaki@pawb.social 4 months ago
They do when democrats are running the show.

To add to your point, a lot of comedy involves taking the power away from the powerful, and look who’s powerful right now

Mean like the jokes about Clinton or Obama or Carter?
